Came in for the first week grand opening! Super excited to try this place as I've heard about it in the city. The outside was decorated very cute! I came in and informed the workers about my gluten allergy. Unfortunately, they didn't know what it was and were super unhelpful on what to get. They didn't know which items had gluten/ wheat and which didn't. I pulled up the allergy menu online. I had to ask them to change gloves to try and keep it clean. I did feel a bit unsafe with allergies here but they are new. I think it would be great for them to have a bit of allergy training! The food ingredients were super fresh and I think it was such a massive amount of food! I got two meals out of it and it was delicious. I will come again but might wait a bit until they are a bit established and more ready for the public!

I find myself traveling from Boston, just to get a taste of their Persian food…read more Everyone is so kind and hospitable!! I have had a bunch of their dishes and the 2 that stick out to me is the Kabab Koobideh and the Gheymeh Bademjoon! A great 3rd party space to meet other Iranians aswell! Vanak is small, with only 6 tables, though we noticed a brisk take out trade during our 3 hour visit. Vanak is not fancy and one needs to know that a visit here is entirely about great Persian fare. Be prepared to either wait for a table or to settle for take out. Reservations are strongly recommended. Vanak has an impressive menu covering beef, lamb, chicken, fish, and vegetarian dishes. Everything is authentic and is served with a more than generous portion of rice. The difference in dishes isn't just the protein; there are at least ten different seasoned rice on offer. Our entrees were shared by four people and three dishes were more than enough. The Lamb Shank with Fava Bean and Dill Rice is exceptional. The shank was slow simmered and the ample amount of meat was melt-in-your mouth delicious. The Dill Rice is uniquely seasoned and we highly recommend this dish. Chicken with Barberry and Saffron Rice is another interesting dish. The quarter chicken is also slow cooked and nicely savory. The Barberry adds an interesting taste profile to what would otherwise be a standard Persian dish. No Persian meal would be complete without Koobideh Kababs and Vanak's rendition is very nicely seasoned. The Kababs were served on a bed of Sangak, the rustic Perisan wheat bread. We finished with baklava which was topped with chopped pistachios and Saffron ice cream. The servings here are authentic and generously portioned. Vanak offers a unique change of pace for lunch which we recommend.

Everything was delicious!…read moreWe all ordered the chicken kebab with rice, grilled vegetables, and a side salad, and for appetizers we shared pita chips with hummus and pita along with spanakopitas. For dessert they surprised me with a birthday slice of carrot cake, which was the perfect sweet ending. The space is beautifully decorated with floral aesthetics and a bright, welcoming atmosphere. There's even a real London red phone booth outside the entrance, and we each got a cute red phone booth keychain to take home, which was such a fun touch. For drinks, my friends tried the special martinis while I had the raspberry fizz, which was super refreshing and perfect for welcoming the spring season. The food was fantastic and the service was friendly and attentive. There's also plenty of parking, which is always a plus. The only tiny con was the music overhead was a bit loud... let's just say at one point our table conversation sounded more like we were at an indoor concert than having lunch. Another small downside was the bathroom situation--there seemed to be only one or two stalls for men and women, so there was a bit of a wait Overall, it was a wonderful birthday spot!

I had the Beef Shawarma, and mostly liked it - though the Sumac sprinkled on top was not optimal for me. Still enjoyed the dish nonetheless and it made good leftovers the next day. Spouse had mixed grill and the filet and chicken in it were just wonderful. We had started with Fatoush salad which is a favorite of mine, along with hummus. I don't find the hummus particularly interesting, but it still complemented other dishes fine. I had a mocktail to start with passionfruit and mango - it was really great. So many mocktails out there are too sweet and not creative. This was a notable exception. Service was great and they sent us home with lots of bread to go with our leftovers. I am looking forward to our next visit. Maybe I will finally get around to trying the stroganoff!
