TERRIBLE restaurant, multiple issues, no apology or anything from restaurant I repeatedly told the server " we don't eat red meat", she continued to recommend beef & lamb dishes, I repeated it, she repeated her beef dishes 1- do your servers not pay attention to guests? 2- Many items on the menu were not actually Lebanese or even from that region. 3- Also, the vegetarian stuffed grape leaves had zero flavor, they tasted like the ones I buy in a can at any supermarket...... The service was great made me feel very welcomed. I was originally going to get the beef kebab but the waitress recommended the lamb kebab. Which I am glad she did because it was a 10/10! Highly recommended Al Wadi and will definitely be back soon. read more

I celebrated my 28th birthday here with a dinner in April. I am Lebanese and found the food to be pretty good quality and reminiscent of the cuisine I grew up with. I will say, however, that the service could have been better in that I brought a cake for my birthday (they were nice enough to waive the cake cutting fee) and they did not know who to bring the cake out to despite me being the one to bring it and say it was my birthday (they brought it out and were handing it to my friend who pointed to me lol). Our server was also pressuring us in some ways to order more appetizers and things that we did not really want or need. Completely enjoyable experience. They were short staffed and had a sign at the entrance saying so AND they'd just hosted a large wedding party which was slowly saying its goodbyes yet we didn't feel the impact. Our server Shakeeb came over quickly and was very personable, interacting with the entire table. One of the party remembered a cocktail from an earlier visit that wasn't on the menu and Shakeeb was able to deduce what it must have been and replicated it. Win! The apps came very quickly, which was great as we had two young kids who were just as typically kid impatient as you might imagine. We got an array of carnivore-centric and veggie-centric meals that satisfied both the lions and the antelopers at the table. Great spot! Had a dine-in dinner on a week night and there was plenty of space to distance from other tables. Service was as excellent as the food. The za'atar served at the beginning of the meal is such a fragrant treat! The Prix Fixe for Two was plentiful, and we enjoyed the assortment so that we could try many different dishes. The tabouli satisfied my craving for something fresh and savory. The baklava dessert was the perfect balance of flakes and sweet. Can't wait to come back! First time here at @alwadiboston and what a wonderful Lebanese dinner experience we had! We got the Al Wadi for two and were completely stuffed with leftovers to take home First, we started off our feast with a deliciously comforting bowl of chicken soup. Next, we had an array of appetizers: pita and hummus, tabouli, and stuffed grape leaves. The pita was freshly baked with a great bite to it. the hummus was deliciously creamy, made with tahini sauce, lemon juice, and olive oil. Made fresh with parsley, mint, wheat bulgur, tomatoes, onions, lots of lemon juice and olive oil, it was hands down the best Tabouli we've ever had! The stuffed grape leaves were pretty tasty, with rice, spices, and lemon juice. Next, out came the main course of chicken kebabs, kafta kebabs, and baked kibbeh. I personally loved the chicken kebabs, as they were well spiced and juicy with every bite. I did not like the kafta kebabs which were made of seasoned ground lamb only because I personally don't like gamey meat (if you like lamb, you'll love these). The baked kibbeh was made with ground beef, cracked wheat, and pine nuts. A very interesting dish, again if you like gamey meat, you'll love this. Finally, we ended the meal with dessert: baklava and namoura. The namoura was tasty with an interesting texture, made from semolina flour and yogurt and soaked in syrup. Saving the best for last, I had the best Baklava I've had in awhile, each bite of layered pastry was deliciously light and crisp, filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with honey/simple syrup. I've always thought of baklava being too sweet to ever enjoy, but like I said this was the best baklava I've ever had. The sweetness level was light enough to enjoy all the different elements of the dessert, the layers, textures, and flavors. Just divine! Please check this place out! read more

Just make sure you save room for all the dessert. Rather than ordering an entree we decided on trying as many appetizer (mezza) as possible. Here's the summary of a few noteworthy items myself and my family tried: Jawaneh (tasty chicken wings marinated with garlic, cilantro, lemon juice and olive oil): it's got bite but is oh soooo good and addictive. Never had such flavorful wings before. lentil soup: creamy, smooth, and hearty. It was a big hit with my little girl. Kibbeh krass (beef dumplings stuffed with minced beef, a hint of onions and pine nuts served with a chilled yogurt sauce): absolutely delicious but packed with protein and is super filling so don't let the size fool you. The yogurt sauce is epic and I wish there was more of it. Samak Tajine (baked sea bass topped with tahini sauce and mixed nuts): visually interesting dish and also both delicious and hearty (and healthy)! Enjoyed a lovely iftar meal here last night and had a wonderful time. Free and easy parking on a weekday evening! One of the first things I noticed and want to commend is the service! We were seated quickly and the staff were some of the nicest and most attentive I've encountered in some time. They answered our questions about the menu, offered their recommendations, and gave us the space to enjoy our meal without ever feeling rushed. They were also impressive with the rate at which filled my water... no sooner had I had a few sips was it refilled. Also, the ambiance was beautiful! Great spot for a family gathering, celebration, or date for sure. For our meal, we shared a few mezzes as well as 1 entree between the three of us and it was plenty. We didn't have space for dessert, but yes we ordered it anyway. No regrets. We ordered: - Warak Enab (grape leaves) - Sujuk with tomatoes (fresh homemade spicy beef sausages) - Kibbeh Krass (beef dumplings stuffed with minced beef, a hint of onions and pine nuts served with a chilled yogurt sauce) - Kafta Kebab (seasoned ground lamb, served with salad, rice pilaf) - Baklava assortment - Turkish coffee During this meal, my kind dinner companions taught me plenty about homemade grape leaves (they're usually less tightly/expertly wrapped but equally as filled with love), how to make Kibbeh (it's hard than it looks), and the art of reading Turkish coffee grounds. When visiting Boston my friend told me this had the best Lebanese food. She wasn't lying it was YUM. I loved all the appetizers the most the tabouleh fattoush. The batata hara. The fries cheeze appetizers were soooo good ! The hummus was done just right ! The main dishes were yum as well. I particularly liked the rice. It is a cozy restaurant with good food. I was a bit dissapointed with the state of the restroom tho. But overall loved the food would come back for all the appetizers! So yum :) Good casual Lebanese spot. Came here to rave about not just the hummus again, but the halibut and the pumpkin kibbe as well- both are huuuuge portions that will give you leftovers (and a salad and side comes with it to boot), and completely flavorful and delicious. The perfectly-cooked halibut was covered in caramelized onions, various nuts (pistachios and cashews mostly), and a lick-your-plate-yummy tahini sauce to smother the fish and the spiced rice it came with. The kibbe was stuffed with spinach and chickpeas and topped with those same onions, complimented perfectly by the mdaradara underneath. I'll definitely be ordering these again- both were so full of flavor and satisfying, filling, and even- gasp!- technically healthyish? We had a GREAT meal at Al Wadi. I'm shocked this place isn't packed all the time! We ordered a bunch of apps, all of which were delicious. I loved that we all got to have a couple bites of each delicious thing. Then we split the lamb chop entree and the chicken kabob - both also outstanding. Pita was delicious and fluffy. I had the juniper cocktail (yum), my husband had a very good Lebanese cab and my teens had the mint lemonade, which they said was the best they ever had. Highly recommend. We'll be back! read more

We made reservations for Valentine's Day. Finding a parking spot was tough. The parking lot next to the restaurant was practically empty. The manager informed me that i would run the risk of getting my car towed. So we went back and parked across the street. The ambiance of the restaurant was A+. The decor for Valentine's Day was nice, the music made the place lively, the belly dancing was fun, the musician played a variety of songs on his saxophone and flute and it made for a great evening. We ordered tamarind fizz and re-fashioned. Tamarind fizz was watered down with mild flavor. Re-fashioned was good. Pita bread for the table came with a tasteless, oily dip. We ordered falafel and vegetarian grape leaves. Falafel lacked flavor and seasoning. Grape leaves were good. For our main course, we ordered a side of tabouli and mixed grill platter. Both were okay but mild on seasoning. Food was unfortunately nothing to rave about. The staff was friendly and attentive but the food itself was okay. Have always loved Al Wadi....However, last week it was a big disappointment. Ordered the lamb chops at $38 and got 4 - yes, just 4 - of the fattiest lamb chops I've ever seen in a restaurant. Also ordered the french fries as a side because they are so good, right! But as soon as they came, I saw that they were the regular, cheap fries you get in any hot dog stand. When I asked the server, I was told the produce order had not arrived. I think by now, they know that people like their fries and I should have been told they were not available - especially since I ordered them in addition to the rice that came with the fatty lamb chops. As an addition, the soup, although delicious, was merely warm when it was served. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. When I crave lamb chops the next time, I'll go to Kouzina in Peabody, where they are $28 and you are served 6 or 8 (I forget exactly, but a good amount), and not fatty!!!!! Drive by this place all the time and finally thought to check it out. Restaurant is nicely decorated. They have vegetarian friendly options and a nice wine list! Vegetarian mezze - nice assortment and enjoyed all the items but, expected hummus to be a little better for a lebanese place. It was nothing special. Lentil soup - tastey but I needed hot sauce. The hot sauce wasn't my favorite so I ate the soup without it. It had a odd taste to it and I didn't want to ruin the soup. Arnabeet mekleh - loved this dish! Who knew cauliflower could taste so goodz Chicken shish taouk - I thought this could have been made a little more flavorful. The sauce it was served with helped provide more flavor. It was so garlicy though I couldn't use too much of it. My sister and I shared this dish and the chef was nice enough to split it for us on two dishes. Lamb chops and lamb kebab - others in my party ordered this and loved it! All entrees are served with a salad which was very yummy. The dressing reminded me of a indian style salad. This restaurant has lovely service staff who are friendly and helpful, but they don't hurry you to finish so you can really enjoy your meal and your conversation. The food is Lebanese/Middle eastern and is delicious. Portions were generous. We had the hummus appetizer (creamy with a splash of olive oil, and served with warm pita) and I had ground lamb skewers with rice pilaf and a lovely salad. Dessert was creme brulee and expresso. There is a large wine/beer/hard cider list including many wines from Lebanon, which I look forward to trying next time we visit. One thing I stress the most when going out to eat is finding parking. But ayeee this place has a private lot! I swear I drove by this place hundreds of times and every single time I said I'll have to try this place. Thanks to groupon, I was able to check this place out with the baes. We didn't know what to expect, first time to Al wadi. The decor is comfortable and very interesting. The groupon was a steal! For the four of us, we were able to get 2 appetizers, 4 entrees, and 2 desserts! We each ordered different things to share. I really like the quail appetizer and the Mediterranean salad. The lamb chop entree I ordered came with cinnamon rice. I wasn't a fan of the cinnamon rice but the rest of us finished it lol.. Food and service were both excellent! You start your meal with an excellent mediteranean salad. Definitely one of the best salads I have had in a long time. Also cannot go wrong with Crème brûlée. Give this place a try!
