This NEX is pretty standard and we stopped by the food court while on base to eat lunch with a big work group. Seating outside is shaded and nice and plentiful. So, we were able to enjoy the warm weather. This NEX seemed smaller and less well-stocked with new and trendy items than others I have visited and I wasn't impressed at all with the shoes, clothing, or purses. Nice place to come and shop on base. (For military active duty or retired military only-ID required at the gate and at the register). Shop all brands. But prices are steep. I saw a section of gently used Louie Vuitton bags! Luxury makeup brands like Estée Lauder, Coach handbags, Banana Republic, Columbia, Gap, clothing and housewares, shoes and a food court with Rubios! I sincerely appreciate the outstanding customer services I had received from Ms Rowena Newton, Ariel and Chris Davis! I was there on 3 July and it was very busy and hectic. They displayed patience and friendliness towards me and made me feel valued! Ariel is extremely knowledgeable about mattresses and he helped me to make wise choices. Your typical large 1-floor Exchange. it's changed a bit since we've been here (if you call 4 years a change), but everything seemed clean and taken cared of, with sweet deals a-plenty throughout the store for both military and civilian alike. Worth looking into, with proper base access. read more

This review is for military ID card holders and their dependents. Okay, so this is the Main Exchange on North Island. What makes this one really nice and it's been said before; it doesn't get super crowded. Most people go to the large two-story NEX on the other side in San Diego, but if you want a calmer shopping experience, give this exchange a try. Very nice. Very clean. And it covers what you expect from a large exchange. You already know what the main benefit is: No Sales Tax. And they will honor any price challenge, meaning if you find it cheaper at any similar store (even sales flyers) they will match the price. read more

***Pre/During COVID-19 Visit*** This is my favorite of all the military exchanges in San Diego. It's clean, spacious, doesn't get too crowded, one story and they have really good employees who are always willing to help you out if you have questions. The commissary is right next door and the cologne/perfume section is outside with the gift shop and tailors/dry cleaners nearby. They also have a barbershop, but I've never gotten my haircut there. There is also a food court with a Subway so definitely give them a try. If you need to go get gas, it's right around the corner so turn left when you leave the parking lot. I can't wait to go back here on my random weekends again just to check the place out since I never get tired of it. read more

I love this place! They have a collection of merchandise that is not available at any other stores. You can practically spend a whole day around there, eat and shop then go outside in the beautiful weather and watch the Ships! Next door there's a commissary that has all kinds of groceries at much cheaper prices. This place always gives you outstanding service. read more

This is a great NEX, it's always stocked and clean. They have more brands than I would've expected as well. The employees are always ready to help and they often have discounts on the already marked down goods. Found a pair of RayBans that go for 150$ outside the base for 80$ after sale markdown. Just remember your military ID! read more

Nice navy exchange! A lot of variety here considering there is a much much larger NEX so close (32nd street). This place is clean and well organized. The food court here is good too. Just the right amount of variety in here. read more

Love this Navy Exchange, helpful and better service.

Great place to shop for makeup brands that are not in the stores anymore like Black Radiance and Miliani are hard to find. Only bad thing is when you go with a service member you can't pay with your own card. You have to take cash out to pay which is annoying. read more

For some reason I can't walk into this Nex without buying a Michael Kors bag. They always have the hottest new colors and the setup is not a cluster like the 32nd Street Nex. It is a small purse department but it is fierce :) read more

This NEX is never pack, and the selection is ok. The best thing is that is never crowded so is a peaceful shopping experience.

Better than a 7eleven and it also sells discount tickets. Parking is confusing and the lot is not traffic friendly.

Nice selection of products and never as crowded as 32nd street NEX. It has the uniform shop, food court, hair salon, commissary, and shopping in one. The lack of a crowd is the ultimate choice as you can find parking and you're not rubbing elbows is a lot of other people. Uniform items are prepared faster here as well. read more

If you're privileged enough to have military access to the exchange, omg you have to go!!! This place beats any department store, Wal-Mart, Sears, in quality, pricing, and variety of products. I hated having to leave and LOVE the Emeril 12-pc pots set and king comforter set I scored! I can't wait to go back! read more

If I could rate this place a 0 star, I would. I worked as a seasonal here and was treated unfairly and like trash by the higher ups that thought since they were higher ups they could treat me like I was worthless. Well for their infor. I have a degree in more that one major and graduated, and have many references, awards, certificates, experiences and more. I wanted to know what it would be like to go under cover kind of and see what normal people go through and it was a disaster. They got all bent out of shape because my husband, who was active duty at the time came to visit me, and just got back form a 6+ month deployment too. And I was about to go on break after work a double shift. After technically quitting the position they had the nerve to ask me back, but for a management position and I declined and they still as of today are emailing me about job positions. WOW read more
