The vibe…read morealone is worth the stop: warehouse-style space, incredible artwork everywhere, warm lighting, and a relaxed beachy energy that immediately makes you feel welcome. We booked the last wine tasting of the day and did it pretty last minute, but Tony was beyond accommodating. He was genuinely happy to be there, took his time with us, and shared not just the wines, but his story, the business, and the heart behind it all. You can feel how much passion he has for what he does. And the wine? Fantastic. Tropical, fruit-forward, creative, and eclectic blends. I'm usually a dry red girl and didn't expect to love them as much as I did -- but I was pleasantly surprised across the board. Tony explained each wine with so much energy and knowledge, making the tasting fun and engaging without ever feeling rushed or scripted. He also walked us through the artwork on the walls (some of it his, plus work from other artists), shared the vision behind Oeno, and really made the experience feel personal and special. We ended up buying a couple bottles and will definitely be back to see what new wines he creates next. If you're looking for great wine, great vibes, and an experience that feels authentic and heartfelt -- don't miss Oeno Winemaking.

Tony was new, but he was awesome and helped us select our wines. Noah was extremely knowledgeable; it was great talking to him about my favorite wines and what might be good to try. Island Distillers is located in Hawaii-Kai; very close to everything, yet feels so far away. It's located at the end of a cul-du-sac with free street parking and marked spots just off the road. The gate is welcoming with painted yellow slippahs to guide your way. The main building is the actual distillery; you can peek inside and see where all the work is done. They do offer tours, but you have to schedule ahead of time (this would be a great activity to plan for visitors). The next building is the store and tasting room. It's well lit with natural sky lights. The bar is along the back, here you can try all their liquors. As of this writing, they have Coconut Vodka, Hibiscus Vodka, and the only known Hawaiian spirit known as Okolehao (this was my favorite). In the coming months they will also offer different varieties of rum. The owner was very friendly and ready to talk about their products and story of the location. He had fresh bananas hanging to enjoy as well as a large selection of bottles to buy to-go and clothing items with their well designed logos. Be sure to check in on Yelp for a free shot glass! The outdoor lanai has a number of tables all shaded next to a pond, waterfall, and garden. On the hill is sugarcane. He will be serving free pizzas to compliment the alcohols; be sure to keep an eye out for updates. This is a wonderful stop for anyone that enjoys locally made goods and wants to get away from town for an hour or so.

An appetizer comes with the tour and all the selections were awesome. Definitely big portions and great options like the Giovanni's Pastrami French Fries. So flavorful! Get some food in your belly because the fun is just starting. The stop at GP's includes 2 drinks as well. I choose a go-to IPA I love from Aloha Beer Company. Next on the tour you head over to Kailua to check out Oahu's only winery. Can you say wine slushies! And Ko'olau Distillery. Both spots gave a tour and talk on how they make their alcohol and local ingredients that go into them. Along with samples. Yummy! But wait that's not all! As you head back to Waikiki you hit up two great local breweries. Inu Island Ales in Kane'ohe and Waikiki Brewing in Kaka'ako. We got to try a variety of beers and pick our favorite to have a larger glass of. The tour continues as you head back to Giovanni Pastrami for a few more drinks and just in time for Happy Hour! The whole day was excellent and Kelandy did a great job of keeping us on track as we went from place to place. We were the largest group so far and he was professional and fun all day! I may have Party Every Weekend stuck in my head! Can't wait to take visitors on this tour! Cheers.

Be a pineapple: Stand tall, wear a crown, and be sweet on the inside…read more Visiting Dole Plantation was honestly a strange mix of fun, beauty, history, and a little bit of emotional whiplash. Which, to be fair, is probably the most historically accurate way to experience a place with the word "plantation" in the name. On one hand, it's genuinely beautiful. The grounds are lush, the air smells incredible, and the pineapple everything is incredibly delicious. The Dole Whip absolutely lived up to the hype, and the gardens, train ride, and giant maze had this cheerful old Hawai'i roadside attraction energy that felt charming instead of overly polished. It was wholesome. I even saw a few adorable cats being fed by the workers. There is also this underlying awareness the entire time where your brain quietly goes, "...wait." Why? Because plantations are not cute historically. The word itself carries a lot of weight tied to colonization, labor exploitation, and the reshaping of Hawai'i for corporate agriculture and tourism. So walking through a place that's simultaneously serving pineapple soft serve while existing within that history creates a peculiar emotional duality that's hard to ignore. Honestly, I appreciated that feeling. Not because the history is good, because it absolutely isn't, but because places should make us think a little. Hawai'i is stunning but it's also layered and complicated and visiting somewhere like this becomes more meaningful when you acknowledge both the beauty and the discomfort instead of pretending one cancels out the other. The experience ended up feeling less like, "Yay pineapples!" and more like a reminder that travel is best when you let yourself enjoy the present while still respecting the history underneath it. Note: I totally destroyed a Dole Whip because personal growth, historical awareness, and pineapple soft serve with fresh pineapple can intertwine, okay?

Seating is limited, which adds to the intimate feel. When we arrived, only about four tables were occupied, so we were seated right away. We chose to sit outside, but indoor seating was also available. Parking was easier than expected. There is plenty of street parking out front, along with a lot behind the building. Both are metered, but when we went the meters in the back lot were out of order, so we lucked out. They offer wine by the glass with 2 oz and 6 oz pours, or you can grab a full bottle. We went with four 2 oz pours so we could try a few different options, which was a great way to mix it up without committing to one bottle. We also ordered the beet salad for $14, which was super fresh and well balanced. The light vinaigrette did not overpower anything and really let the beets, mixed greens, and feta shine. Simple, but done right. The staff mentioned they host wine tasting events on Wednesdays, which definitely sounds worth checking out next time. Overall, prices felt reasonable and the atmosphere was on point. It is a great spot for a relaxed night or casual date. The only downside is the bathroom situation. It is a shared restroom outside of the space, and when we went it was not in great condition. It was not well stocked and pretty messy. Not really the bar's fault, but something to be aware of. Would definitely come back.

They served us tap water in a bottel, it was not filtered water, it didn't taste good. So that was a problem because I like to drink a lot of water if I'm going to have a cocktail. That brings us to the cocktails they have here. The cocktail drinks are limited also. I like a good bourbon not whitskey. The server went into a long explanation why they don't have bourbon at there bar, resturant, whatever this place is. This place needs a lot of work on their hospitality.
