Found this place because I needed to buy a replacement food for my puppy when I found some bugs in the big box store brand. Sent my husband to get it since he was nearby. Best discovery made. My puppy loves it and she got to gain some healthy weight since she had some catch ups to do when we got her. My cat also loves her food too. She's nothing fancy but her fur says otherwise. We were feeding her a few popular brands but she would be patchy sometimes. Her nickname was gonna be Patches if she kept eating their food. Always a great customer service experience when and rarely if I ever have an issue. Delivery is fast and our pets love their kibble. Fixed my cats GI issues and got my husbands dog on it too. Fixed his issues as well. They ran out of feline kibble a couple of months ago so I opted for wet food. My cat didn't like it and they were very accommodating and were able to help me out, get me a refund, sample bags to hold me over and then sent an email when they got it back in. I've been a loyal customer since 2013. I discovered them while at the Watermelon Festival at the Rose Bowl. The people are great and customer service is top notch. My dog has been fine with the food, but, to be honest, I'm sure he'd be fine with ANY food. I'm giving them 3 stars today because my cost has consistently gone up every time I place an order for my 4 bags. I liked it back in the day when it was more bang for my buck to order 4 bags at a time. When that awesome Asian man would deliver right to my doorstep. I haven't seen a difference in the food other than the kibble size has gotten smaller since the first times I purchased these bags. They recently changed their shipping companies which is why, I'm assuming their prices have gone up - yet again. They increased $9 since the last time I ordered (4 months ago). And the last time I ordered was also an increase from the time before that. I will continue to order because at this point, 7 years later, my dog's just used to the food and the free shipping is convenient. read more

Read whole review from proper detail, but TLDR will be at bottom. Nature's Select was awesome in their prompt delivery of sending samples to my doorstep. We received the Multi-Protein and New Zealand recipes. My dogs are fairly picky, so I was worried, but they loved the taste of both foods(I could tell they ate with more vigor for New Zealand). I also love how the company is fairly local for me, and that they support important foundations like one for Service Dogs. But the reason I am giving 3 stars(realistically 3.5) is because these kibble pieces are fairly small and I dislike how the New Zealand formula has "peas" before "pork meal", makes me think that peas being before a meat ingredient is a subtle substitute for a plant based protein(that can also be doubled as a helping binder agent in the making process) versus another meat based ingredient. All my dogs are large/giant sized heart-issue prone purebreds, and they all liked the New Zealand recipe the most, even though I personally am disheartened about it's ingredient list.** I really recommend the company create 2 or more large breed formulas, with significantly larger pieces. My Rottweiler inhaled the New Zealand recipe, since he really didn't need to chew at all due to the kibble being pea-sized, its too small for even large breed puppies. My Doberman, with a thinner muzzle, had some occasional chewing noises present though. My Cane Corso, with a bigger and wider muzzle had the same issue as my rottie, but with the kibble actually stuck in her loose lip jowls. The L-carnitine and omega 3 + 6 were adequate but could be higher, since L-carnitine and taurine absorption are helpful for heart health and go hand-in-hand, and peas are potential inhibitors for taurine absorption overall... hence why I am disheartened they even have peas involved in a grain-inclusive recipe. I also would like to see at least one certified veterinary nutritionist under their employment or at least aiding them in their nutritional studies, since an ingredient list is not the only thing to advertise a dog food by. Also if they at least carried out a few AAFCO feeding trials to prove their food is properly working on a physiologically level In a scientific fashion that would be ideal. Their advertisement of being "5 stars" or "4 stars" on Dog Food Advisor is a useful advertisement strategy for most dog owners, but really, that website is ran by a human dentist, NOT a veterinary nutritionist or even a regular small animal vet. It is a great research-tool-website for the beginner hobbyist in dog food research and one can still learn something from it and it's forums, but it really is something that cannot be taken seriously when confirming a dog food's rating. A proper rating would be from a released feeding trial study. I've searched for years to find proper kibble size for my large and giant breed dogs, with solid amounts of L-carnitine, Taurine, and Glucosamine/Chondroitin in a kibble and adequate protein/fat ratios since I usually have them in some sort of canine sport. I won't name any other brands here in this review for sake of courtesy toward Nature's Select. I'll just state that the food I feed has giant kibble pieces, feeding trials completed and published, many vet nutritionists on staff, and I've talked to multiple over the phone. To add, I supplement raw, fish oil, and leafy green vegetables with my current kibble. **With this criticism/observation being said, I did read Nature Select's news article on DCM in relation to legumes(peas)/starches(potatoes), have talked to my two regular vets, and a specialty vet in Cardiology at a specialty animal hospital(pricey appointment but I do an echo-cardiogram check once a year on my Doberman now that he's older), along with hours of my own research in diet-related DCM studies. So yes in short, it is basically one in a million chance your dog will contract diet related DCM as of right now, but why even take the chance for one in a million and just make it a zero percent risk? I wish they removed peas from the New Zealand formula with another healthier whole grain in front of pork meal. TLDR: All-in-all 3.5 stars, great customer service, I also like how its fairly local to me, and the food is alright and definitely not the worst out there by any means, but nothing I see myself seriously considering to feed my dogs. Here's quick re-cap to why: L-carnitine/Taurine is basic to low amounts. No Glucosamine/Chondroitin advertised. Peas in the New Zealand recipe has me disheartened, especially how it is before pork meal and in a grain-inclusive food. Kibble sizes are way too small(great size for younger puppies, or small to medium breed dogs) No veterinary nutritionist on staff. No feeding trials done on at least one of their formulas. Using a website such as Dog Food Advisor apart of their marketing strategy, when really its a hobbyist website ran by a human dentist and not a veterinary professional or nutritionist. read more

My service dog came to me from the Guide Dog Foundation and among the paperwork I received was information that he was on a diet of Chicken & Rice kibbles from Nature Select. I think it easier to keep the dog on the same diet that mess around with changing it. I went to their web site and the price of a 30 pound bag was very reasonable and included free delivery. My dog's weight has varied 72 - 75 since I got him and his veterinarian gives him A+ ratings on his health, weight, dental condition and energy. Having the dog food delivered is really a plus, and it is so easy to adjust the schedule based upon the dogs consumption. Customer care has been great. My Labrador Retriever was having horrible skin problems. Very flaky, always itchy and miserable. I bought all of the skin care products and tried my best to help his skin. We found the Nature's Select booth at the OC Fair and decided to give their high quality food a try. After about 2 weeks, his skin was 100% better. I cant believe that he was completely cured from a problem we've been having for two years after just two weeks. I've run out in the past and since you cant just run up to Petsmart to grab a new bag, I've had to feed him Pedigree or Alpo cans to tie him over. Even after only a couple days of using an alternate food, his skin starts getting itchy. I am so happy I found this company. read more

The dog food is great, good quality hippy/holistic style food that agrees with my food allergy ridden pit bull and my digestively sensitive basset hound. The employees are really nice and helpful. They'll call to see how the dogs are liking the food, call or email to see if you've got enough. Their delivery schedule is really convenient and they deliver on short notice. They are very accommodating as far as trying new foods and treats. On a call to re-order food, I mentioned I was going on vacation and taking the dogs with me, they without being prompted or asked included some travel bags to put the dog food in. Just found this company, thanks to my daughter's boyfriend who noticed their factory on Orangethrope. First of all we have two Pittbulls. One has problems with her skin. She has gotten shots from the vet and also has been on medication, because of allergies. We have always use good food such as Blue Buffalo but her skin problems have not improved. So, I decided to give this company a try and use their Select Cold River Salmon brand of food. We have gotten two bags now and my dog's skin is no longer pink and flaking off. She is not licking her paws and chewing on them. We have not given her any meds because I wanted to make sure that the food was really working. It is and she likes the food. My first order was no hassle at all. I just looked up their website ordered my food and it came to my front door. You have an option of telling them where you want it left. I am not sure about the other review saying you cannot order online in the OC area because i had no problem doing that. I have ordered twice with no issues. I need to see about getting the 20% discount. I didn't see that with my order but will call and check it out. I am going to try the dog biscuits next. I went back to using the old milk bones and looks like these may also be a problem with flaking skin. I was referred to Nature's Select from a friend who tried their food for his dog that was having health issues. I have a beagle that is nine years old and I had been feeding her Science Diet brand food. She recently started developing food allergies and other health issues. I figured I'd try Nature's Select since my friend had success with his dog. Once I started feeding my beagle Nature's Select her food allergies went away. She's like a different dog now. Much more active and moving around better. She loves the cold river with salmon flavor. I've also noticed her coat is much more soft and shines now. I tried going back to her old food and her food allergies came back right away. We have been feeding our dogs Nature's Select New Zealand recipe for the past few months and previously the classic recipes. We have 3 Cocker Spaniels and they love the food and have few problems with ears and skin. They haven't had to see a vet for years about ear infections or skin problems.
