I recently redid my outdoor pond after 25 years. It needed an uplift. I reconstructed it in the backyard and put fresh liner in it and refilled water and plants and I needed some fish. For years all I had were mosquito fish, but this time I wanted something with a little more color and went in search of the right fish. This place is great and through my research I ended up getting orange white cloud minnows as they are an easy to care for fish and cheerful and happy swimming around in my pond. I went back a month later and bought more and every single one of them is still alive a year later and had babies (fry) in my pond. So now I have double the fish I paid for in less than a year. This place was recommended to me by an employee at pet smart , so we decided to check it out and it lived up to the hype. They have everything you need for both salt water and fresh water aquariums. They have a large selection of fish and shrimp for both types of aquariums and more. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and they were really knowledgeable and answered a lot of the questions we had about fish that would get along in our new tank. This store has a decent selection of fish and the staff are generally friendly and helpful, except for the owner. Unfortunately, he sets a tone that makes shopping here an unpleasant experience. He comes across as condescending, not just with me but with my entire family. My wife felt talked down to on a separate visit, and my son had a similar experience. When I came in with a fish compatibility issue, the owner blamed me for not doing my own research. What he did not know was that I had done my research using AI, but was initially given inaccurate information, which I caught only after digging deeper the following day. I found his reaction dismissive and unprofessional. He also seemed bothered by a prior visit where I returned an aggressive fish that his own staff had recommended to me in the first place. What really concerned me was how he handled the return. I brought back a live fish in a bag, and once he agreed to the swap, he tossed the bag, fish still inside, carelessly into the sink. For someone running a fish store, that kind of disregard for a living animal was jarring to witness. I want to support local fish stores, and the rest of the staff here seem genuinely passionate. But until the ownership attitude changes, I would have a hard time recommending this place to other hobbyists, especially beginners who rely on staff guidance to make good choices. read more

They have both fresh water and salt water fish. Lots of unique fish I've never seen before. Plenty of different water conditioner to choose from. Aquariums were on the pricier side. One lady employee seemed a little rude, maybe because we were still in there and it was closing. We bought 1 fish here and it died in the bag before we got home. Bought a couple shrimps and they died the next day. Lots of fish and fish stuff here but I lost likely wouldn't come back. read more

Everything about this working improve the way they talk to you when you come in would be fucking great last time I went to the store with my brother which tried to return two of the fishes that he has previously gotten he got them both for 25 and I understand that you cannot give the same amount of money that you've purchased them for and I understand that maybe I didn't understand him over the phone, but when I went with my brother, he tried to only give us $16 for both of them and that's pretty stupid because even though they have it in their policy, we've been there so many times and spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars, but that would probably be the last time that I even spend one dollar there if you really want good customer service I recommend Petco or PetSmart read more

This place is paradise for anyone that is into aquariums. Beginner, intermediate or professional - I'm definitely a beginner, but learning quickly and loving this hobby so I'm working my way into intermediate... meaning I am getting a lot of knowledge, BUT still dangerous bc I don't know how to apply all that knowledge due to lack of experience. So starting off with Petsmart for my first betta and keeping that fish alive and moving up to a 7.5 gallon tank with sponge filter and purigen... then adding plants to that tank and also growing plants (pothos, etc) on the surface of that tank. Now I have added 2 nano tanks with male betta's that are fully planted with pothos and a nice substrate and one of my tanks that I added guppies... now is a breeding tank for guppies! Learning about lighting, substrates, filters (sponge, HOB, media, etc) and temperature for different tropical fish. I am also maintaining water changes to keep algae down, but also allows my eco system to function by picking the right tank inhabitants: betta, guppies, neon's, shrimp, sucker fish (i forget the aquatic name), catfish... etc. Basically, creating an environment that can create sustainability. Oh ya.. can't forget water fertilizer - CO2 scares me still so I'm keeping my planted tank simple for now. Enter THE REEF. This place is AMAZING. Not only do they have all the goodies you need from big tanks, nano tanks, square tanks, shallow tanks and all tanks in between... they have all the substrates... all the cap materials, driftwood, heaters, led's, cleaning supplies, test kits, fish food, plants... oh and did I mention... FISH? I didn't know where to begin upon entering the store, but saw some amazing tanks that I wanted to add to my collection. I picked up an Aqua Japan AJ Q40 and a UN Systems shallow tank. Brought home all the goodies I listed above for my specific tank build and I had to write about this store. Not only do they have everything you would need... their knowledge and customer service made me feel welcomed to the hobby. You know sometimes other fish stores have these know it alls that treat you kinda like a noob and make you or at least I feel intimidated that I should know this stuff and bc I don't... I'm embarrassed to ask. The staff here not only answered my questions -- but also had the same passion I had as a new person to the hobby. They encouraged my questions and gave me direction and tips on how to improve my planted aquarium setup. I could go on and on... but hey - this was my first visit and won't be my last. I now have a local store that I am happy to support vs online/amazon and the big box stores - bc their knowledge, inventory and amazing customer service is hard to find now a days. Support your local pet shops and for sure - give this place a visit! Even if it's a far drive for you --- it's worth the distance. Trust me! More to come as I continue on this journey. Posting my review since I last visited which was about the beginning of 2025- I bought 7 Rummynose Tetra since the beginning of the year, they have now almost doubled in size and are my most active fish within my aquarium. Great quality as the color of the fish are as vibrant as ever. The store owner was kind to us as we were browsing around. I can't praise their service enough. An employee came up to me and asked me if I needed help. I had a lot of questions because I'm very unfamiliar with saltwater keeping and have done lots of research, but wanted to get another opinion. He was very well informed and helped guide me in what I could or couldn't do given my desired tank size. He didn't pressure me into just buying livestock/corals before I had my stuff ready and letting me know what was possible given the parameters. From my look around the store, fish seemed to be healthy, plants were in decent condition and they had a variety of lesser common plants for good prices. The rocks were a great price I'll have to return once I figure out the exact tank measurements. I will definitely be returning this store to get some supplies for my saltwater tank when it's fully cycled. read more

Long-time Fish and aquarium store, the plaza its in has changed a lot over the decades but Reef has stayed pretty much the same. We started watching fish tank shows on youtube and we came here to get some inspiration for our own fish tank. It is family owned and its been the same owners since my parents bought fish from this location more than 30 years ago. There is a large selection of fish as well as tanks and accessories, much more variety than corporate pet stores. An example of this is the plant, stick, and rocks for aquascaping; a great selection of different looks and real + artificial to hit many needs. Everything is well labelled and priced, the inside is well maintained and clean. Importantly, the fish look energetic and alive and not slow and depressed like at petco. Not good at all... They are ok once you are spending money otherwise just sits there on the phone... Spend quite a bit on inverts and a new fish. Acclimated it with drip method for 4 hours, next day dead... reef tank has been up for a few years with no fish, so thought I'd add a new Tang. DEAD next morning. When I asked them if I could come in test water and possibly get a refund/credit I was told there is no guarantee on Saltwater fish and I am out of luck... This is going to be my go to store from now on. I was looking for a lot of things and had a lot of questions. T the owner, helped me BIG time. As I was purchasing things, he would help me carry things to the front counter so I wouldn't have to carry it around the store as I browsed. He answered all my questions with amazing patience and clarity. He would let customers walk around the store on their own but was always present in case they had questions. T does not up sale and never once did I feel pressured to buy anything. In many cases, he actually talked me down in buying certain things after explaining how they were unnecessary for what I was trying to achieve. T works alongside his son, and they have a great selection of things such as high quality rimless glass tanks of varying gallons, filters, heaters, fish food, aquatic plants of all sizes, driftwood, siphons, lighting, substrate, fish, and many more things I can't remember off the top of my head. All the tanks are incredibly spotless and there is no fish smell here unlike many other fish stores. T is very knowledgeable regarding the care of his fish and it shows in the quality and organization of his store. If you are looking for something in particular, just give them a call, they answer very swiftly! (As I was about to write this review, I read a couple of reviews below about how people have purchased fish here - only to have them die back home. Fish can die for hundreds of different reasons, either the new owners don't acclimate the fish, give them the right temperature, provide a bad diet, etc. - the list goes on. I don't think it is completely fair to blame the store owner for fish dying at home when the fish here are in outstanding shape and in crystal clear waters. It just doesn't add up to me. I came in looking for some plants for my 10 gallon betta tank, and the two people running this place were so helpful. The woman there was kind and helped me find some good pieces of driftwood for the center piece of my tank, and the man there helped me pick out some suitable plants. I opted for some anacharis and some red ludwigia to liven up my tank, and it looks gorgeous ! My betta loves the plants and commonly likes to chill between the anacharis branches. The man was also kind enough to give me some tips on propagating the plants when they grew more and needed to be trimmed, something I was just learning about despite having been fishkeeping for nearly a decade myself. Prices are a little high, as I spent $40 on 2 small pieces of wood and 3-4 plants, but you definitely are getting healthy plants and quality wood. I can't speak on the fish as I haven't purchased any from here yet, but from my experience I will definitely be back. read more

I envisioned a show tank next to my bed with it being fully planted with little to no maintenance. Maybe a fish or two. So I went to Reef and talked to the son. He is very helpful and friendly. If you ask the right questions, he will give you the answers. If you ask a dumb question, he will give you an answer. They have a good variety of tanks. I chose a UNS rimless 12g tank, very low profile but long. They also carry lights, and I ended up getting a nice led Full Spectrum light. The son gave me different options and different prices and helped me get the one for my new rimless tank. Next, I needed aquascaping rocks and wood. They have a great variety of rocks for me to choose. They also had black spider wood separated into different sizes. In addition, I picked out my sand and plants. I've purchased their plants here before, so I knew the high quality of plants and I wanted to fill up my long tank full of plants. I chose about $200 worth of plants... all low light and beginner plants, no joke. Finally, I wanted to add one fish and I chose my first beta fish (halfmoon). It is beautiful and I now have my vision next to me whenever I wake up or go to bed. Thanks Reef! I did spend a good amount of money here, but it's worth it, since the hobby gives me plenty of relaxation time with my fish, plants and shrimp. read more

Yesterday I wanted to buy something, and the guy straight up told me it was a bad idea to mix that particular fish with the ones I already have. He could have easily sold them to me, but he didn't.
