Aftermath of being cut during my pedicure
Belle Z.

I am genuinely so sad to be writing this review because I loved my experience here in the beginning and have been coming almost 2 years. Prior to my past two visits it was minor annoyances like having to ask for the person at the front desk to mute the RING app that she had at full volume and was going off every thirty seconds and really impacting the tranquility of the place. But the last two appointments I have been injured. The first I chocked it up to a mistake (the girl took healthy skin from my toe cuticle). I've never had this happen in my entire life of getting pedicures. The girl handled it pretty dismissively as I was actively bleeding and was not quick to apologize. The second time some months later, I went back and similarly the person took a chunk of healthy skin. This was not taking the cuticle off and pulling it up too fast. This was not anywhere near my cuticle. I requested to stop entirely and asked for a band aid. She let me know they did not have a band aid so I had to walk home with my toe bleeding. There were no attempts to make the situation better. No offers to go next door and get a bandaid or to comp my next service. I only received a text about ten minutes later offering 10% off my next service which is laughable. Based on my recent experiences, the fact the business doesn't carry a simple first aid kit which is a legal requirement in NY, and how the situation was handled I will not be returning.

Where the polish was painted onto my toe

I got a gel pedicure done here about three days ago. The gel polish is already peeling off 5 of my toes. A couple of them is because the polish was painted onto my actual toe and not cleaned up resulting in it lifting. I received a pedicure from here previously and it was amazing. The service this time wasn't it. Shame because I really liked this place.

Gel pedicure messed up just 24 hours after service. No specific cause - have no idea how this happened.

I really wanted to love this spot. It's a beautiful, clean space that smells great and the staff were all very sweet. However, I'm generally bummed about my experience here. As I was walking up to the shop, two to three minutes before my appt time, they called and said they were running late and would be about 20 more minutes. A little annoying they waited so long to inform me, but okay, no big deal. Since I was already there I went in and waited. The waiting area is nice and comfortable, though it was a little stuffy. But I didn't end up getting seated until 50-55 minutes past my appointment time. The women were sweet and apologetic but I still had to pay full price for the service, and there was no offer to upgrade to make up for the wait, or any other accomodations. As for the service itself, I got a gel manicure and gel pedicure. It was ... Okay. I felt like some steps were fairly rushed - exfoliating/moisturizer/massage in particular - but the end result was fine. Until today, when just 24 hours after a gel pedicure, a bubble appeared in the big toe polish and popped, so now the nail looks all messed up. No clue how this happened. I'm flying out on vacation in the morning so I can't come in and have it fixed. Like I said, I'm just bummed. I very rarely spend money on myself like this and this certainly wasn't worth it for me.

My nails after leaving the salon

I just want to start by saying I've never left a bad review for any nail salon, restaurant, etc. I actually had to make a yelp account just to post this. I came in for a manicure and pedicure today. The pedicure was great but when the nail tech started painting the gel color that I picked for my nails, it looked very different than the color I chose. She reassured me that the color would look the same after a few coats, but after 3 it still looked very different. The man at the front desk explained that this was because it was a non-opaque type of polish and that the sample was painted on a white nail and that's why it looked different. While that is a logical and understandable reason, I wish that had been explained to me before I chose that color or I would have opted for an opaque type of polish. I ended up asking them to remove the color and unfortunately since I had been there for 2 hours I didn't have time to stay and redo them. The man at the front desk said that it should have been explained to me beforehand that this type of polish does look different on different people since it shows some of the color of your natural nail underneath. I truly think this was just a lack of communication and misunderstanding and was not upset at this point. I thanked the nail tech and she apologized and I said it was totally fine. Where I have an issue is that I was charged for a "nail clean up", even though the man at the front told me he was only going to charge me for a pedicure and when I confronted him about it, his response was very unprofessional and frankly just rude. I was in a rush so I didn't notice the discrepancy in the charge until I left, so I called and asked why I was charged $55.89 instead of $40 for just the pedicure (I tipped 15% but tips don't get charged immediately so this price was before tip). He told me that it was "only $10" and he was sorry that I didn't like the color but that he needed to pay his employees. While it was "only $10", I rarely go out of my way to treat myself to these kinds of services so it sucked to spend $65 on a pedicure and damaged nails. I am attaching a photo of the "nail clean up" that includes damage from taking the gel off. They objectively look worse than when I came in so I don't think I should have paid for them even though unfortunately it did take time for the nail tech (and myself). **side note- while I understand the non opaque polish thing, the color looked DARKER on the fake nail so the explanation for the color difference being that the fake nail was white made no sense. In that case, the color would be lighter, not darker. I don't feel good about leaving this review and like I said I've never done this before but the unprofessionalism and lack of communication made this experience really shitty and I already have a hard time letting myself splurge on services like this for myself.

Best mani/pedi i've gotten in nyc. Everyone was so sweet and the salon was beautiful. they bring you tea and cookies and even have protective gloves for the UV lights. I got a Gel pedi and Gel X mani, was def worth the money. Will definitely be back.

This is probably one of the best nail spots I've been to in Brooklyn thus far. I just got the most amazing manicure and pedicure and let me tell you she got the calluses off my feet that were there since three winters ago lol. They gave you refreshing water, lemon and champagne glass and then they always actually you're comfortable. Everything that they use is completely natural and there's no harsh preservatives and anything that they use. Definitely a Massey spot and probably your next new nail home forever. so if you're looking for a new nail spot, don't walk run to this place. Super clean everyone super friendly and honestly I don't understand why more places aren't designed this way. I love the fact that they are family owned and it just feels like you're talking to your Bestie lol

Nails

By far the most exceptional nail salon service I have ever had to date. When we arrived we were offered water with lemon, the establishment was VERY clean and we were not rushed (even though we arrived later in the evening where most other places would rush you out the door). I got the gel mani/pedi and my friend got a men's gel manicure. My hands and feet are silky soft and I can't wait to go back!

Nail tech pushed my cuticle so far that she peeled the skin back on my actual finger

We showed up at the wrong location and they waited for us to essentially start 15 minutes later. I appreciated that. The Williamsburg location was more spacious and seemed newer. The Greenpoint location seemed cozy. My technician was Elena and she was really sweet. The tools seemed to be thoroughly sanitized and the filer seemed to be brand new, which I appreciated. I think the price is around $60 plus an extra $5 on each nail that has a design. Total was probably around $70 not including tip. I tipped Elena $20 because she was so sweet, she was amazing. I wanted something classy but glitzy and chose a pinkish color and a shiny glittery one. At the last minute after the gel mani was almost done, I asked for some designs. I think they didn't have the type of crystals and add ons that I really liked but opted to do two nails with designs anyway. I chose a dry flower design and three crystals. The technician was very patient but I don't think they had the proper tools to pick up the crystals. The tweezers weren't pointy enough to apply the crystals so it took some maneuvering but it finally made it on. It seems like the 3D designs aren't commonly done here. The final result I am decently happy with. We also got a quick hand massage and 5 minute back massage so that was a nice add on. My short stubby nails seemed to be elongated with the way my nails are shaped. I absolutely loved the glittery polish, I should have done all my fingers with this instead of the pink color. The 3D designs are okay, not the best and the flower fell off after 3 days, so I wouldn't recommend doing 3D designs here. My friend had a complaint about the nails and we were able to work with the owner to get her nails redone, so the service is quite good. If you have any issues, I recommend contacting them immediately to see if they can do something for you.

That is a huge plus for me. They made sure you were comfortable. What I loved about this place was they have a Cafe inside. Who doesn't want to sip a chai or cocktail while getting a pedicure? Lol. Their cafe prices were very reasonable. As far as the service, my technician was extremely nice however the service wasn't worth the money at all. I regret getting my nails done because that is something I don't play with. I regret not going to my usual nail salon that is pretty much perfect. I just felt like taking a drive and trying a new spot. I won't return. My nails were mediocre and there was dried gel polish on my skin that I removed in the car. In my opinion, a technician sees your hands and they have a light so to be honest I shouldnt have to correct much, but that's my opinion. My toenails were okay as well. I've had much neater and precise paint jobs on both my gel mani and regular pedicure. It has been four days and I definitely have a some chip polish on my fingernails. Cute decor. Cute area. Parking wasn't bad either. Salon clean and you can choose to have your services done in their garden area or inside. Update: nails didn't even last a week. Was chipped and peeling.

When googling around I saw they had this service listed on their website. I just recently moved to a building two blocks over so I stopped by to make an appointment to have them removed. Everything after that was chaos. They had no idea what I was asking for and treated me like I was doing something shady or weird, when it's a listed service on their website with a price and everything. Halfway through the service, they asked if I also wanted a manicure. I repeated what I told the woman at the front desk: my nails beneath the extensions are too weak and damaged from all the fill ins so I want to let them grow out a bit, but I wanted to have them filed / trimmed / shaped etc once the extensions were off so the would at least look clean. They told me this would cost extra. I gave them some side eye because that should be part of the price but told them that was fine. At the end of the service, the woman told me I was done and could go. I was shocked. My nails were a mess. Not trimmed, not neat, with edges literally cracking and hanging off. They didn't charge me for the clean up service, but I couldn't believe they were going to send me on my way with nails looking how they did, super damaged and ugly. I went home to finish the job myself. Additionally, they treated every other customer who came in way different. Other girls were offered little stools to put their bags on while mine was put on the floor right next to old nail clippings etc. Even if it wasn't for the terrible service, I wouldnt go back for the poor treatment alone. I was treated so strangely for asking for a service that they say, per their website, they offer. Luckily, primp and polish is only a few blocks away. I've been going there ever since. The space is clean and bright, the staff are friendly, and the prices are comparable. I will never return to nail of the day.

It just been many misses the past months. I got this time a gel acrylic tip. I asked for short almond with a yellow French tip design. Everything was just so rushed and unorganized. They had so many people come in and they want to attend all but it's only three females working and all shuffling around each other. Literally all three woman did different things to partake in doing my nails and still they came out so bad. I'm not one to complain because I just feel so uncomfortable having to do so but even if I did I couldn't because they had already started working on 5 other people they said yes to while only being 3 workers working ! So I would've needed to wait even longer to get them fixed. My thumbs were two different shapes. And my nails just looked so bad they shaped them in like 4 minutes all my 10 fingers which I feel takes time but they didn't bc they all rushing and just taking on more than they can so my nails were all just not shaped or buffed out and smoothed out at all. Making the shape look so bad from the sides as you can see. And then the paint job was awful! It was so bulky and looking like waves on my nails which you can see in the pictures and especially on the sides how bad it all looks. I left so sad and defeated because I paid $60 for this job and left a tip to make it $70! Just to come home and remove it all. Then the past months I get a gel manicure on my nails very simple manicure of just gel and they start chipping within 5 days never did it use to do that but three times I've gone and that's what I ended up with so it's time for me to just not come here anymore they gone so downhill

Honestly I don't have a go-to manicurist because, in my opinion, the ladies who have served me (usually) did an excellent job- minus some accidental hiccups. Overall, the employees are professional, can read the room, and do a nice job. The price is reasonable for the location (especially) with the weekday specials. The music is excellent as they play a playlist of lofi hits. Most of the clients also keep to themselves whenever I visit so the ambience is peaceful, especially for those who need a rest from NYC's busy life. The color variety and quality brands they curate are excellent too so there will be a color you can find even if the one that you initially wanted is discounted (I'm looking at you silver!!!).
