At the time of writing this review, the Yelp listing for "Columbia Gorge Outlets by Simon Property…read moreGroup" was closed (I believe somewhat recently). "Yelpers report this location has closed." However, that's not true because we just shopped here. I submitted edits to Yelp to remove "by Simon Property Group" from the business name and reopen the listing. Hopefully, by the time you read this, the listing will be open again. According to a January 25, 2016 article by Chain Store Age, Simon Property Group sold "Columbia Gorge Premium Outlets" to New York-based Time Equities Inc. (TEI) for $28,425,000: https://chainstoreage.com/real-estate/time-equities-acquires-columbia-gorge-premium-outlets-000 Currently, Columbia Gorge Outlets is managed by Norris & Stevens. According to TEI, the 164,236-sf outlet mall "is 87% leased to 37 tenants. All the tenants are national retailers." https://timeequities.com/properties/columbia-gorge-outlets Our group of eight visited Portland for vacation. We stayed in the city and took a day trip to hike in the nearby Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. We stopped by this outlet mall to pick up some items for hiking. For example, someone bought a shirt from the Columbia Factory Store and another person got shoes (sneakers) from Famous Footwear Outlet. This outlet mall is conveniently located right off I-84 exit 17 (Marine Drive / 257th Avenue) in Troutdale, Oregon. Troutdale is a suburb of Portland. The two cities are about 16 miles apart and both are located in Multnomah County. The outlet mall is about halfway between Portland and where we hiked (Wahkeena Falls). Great location for what we needed. Columbia Gorge Outlets is one of the smaller outlet malls I've visited. The size and look of it is more akin to a typical American suburban shopping center than a sprawling outlet mall. In terms of appearance and amenities, it was pretty standard. Before heading out, a few of us used the restrooms by the mall's offices on the south side of the property. Overall, the property was clean and expectedly peaceful and quiet during our visit on a Friday morning around 10:38am.

Walked into this store the same time as a lady did with her big purse. The lady clerk at the store…read moresaid hi to the lady customer but came right up to me didn't say hi and flatly told me I had to give her my jack spade messenger bag. I refused because my iPad, wallet, iPhone, my Burberry leather iPad case and Louis Vuitton sunglasses were in it. She continued to fight with me on it and I asked why she didn't ask the lady to put her large coach purse behind counter. She said "I have a bag". Mind you I couldn't even fit one shoe in my bag if I were to steal, which I would not anyway. She said "fine but I am going to watch you". And she just stood there with her hands on her hips staring at me with a glare as I tried the shoes. So when I tried on some vans that I really liked ...was so put off by the sales clerk that I put them back. Then went up to counter and proceeded to tell her how uncomfortable she made me and how I was pointed at racially because I am a gay man (spoke very nicely) I might add. Asked her for her first name as she conveniently flipped her badge as I walked up to her....she retorted by saying "leave now". I did. Called headquarters made a big complaint to the division manager. They lost a $60 sale and I went to Vans where they treat me with respect and didn't question my bag and bought them there. In this day where guys have purses/bags too... to hold all there tech stuff...( this ...shouldn't be a question). Never will I buy shoes from Famous Footwear again. My last purchase there was $150 Nike running shoes.... you lost a customer and I hope they fire this lady who was very rude and prejudice. I also wrote a bad review on Google, site jabber and reported them to consumer affairs and the BBB. Update: Division manager called me, apologized profusely sent me a $50 gift card for my trouble. Went back to store spoke to manager - Anna, very nice lady, she saw my messenger bag she even said I couldn't fit one shoe in it,...anyway their policy is not to ask for people's bags. When she looked at it she even agreed it's the size of a small purse. She was very apologetic too. They are taking action with employee, they could not tell me how, but I am glad it was resolved.

Boot Barn is a really cool place! I went in to find a pair of boots, and never having been to Boot…read moreBarn before, was honestly overwhelmed by the huge selection. The front of the store has the conventional "cowboy" boots and hats, ranging in price from "oh, that seems reasonable" to "WOW! I never realized that these were so expensive!". The back of the store has a huge selection of fashionable work footwear, and the middle of the store has many racks of apparel. Boots are arranged by size (just as shoes in a shoe store are), but the signage was easy for me to overlook. After spending a lot of time generally feeling lost, the only on-duty employee came over and provided a HUGE amount of help. She spent a lot of time bringing me boots of various styles and price ranges, various insoles to try them with, and explained to me that they could stretch three different areas of the boots if a liked pair needed a bit of adjustment. I ultimately selected a really nice pair that carried a high price tag, but this truly seems like a one-time investment, so I didn't mind this. I'm really impressed with Boot Barn, and highly recommend it if you're looking for Western wear or Western work shoes or boots. Don't let the toppled wooden horse in the parking lot dissuade you.

I entered with the intent of just checking it out and immediately saw a faux suede duster with a little fringe and beautiful silver cabochon buttons. Tried it on and the fit was perfection. Two shoppers immediately commented saying you must buy it. Of course I did! While carrying my prized coat around, I checked out the rest of the store. As the name implies, they have racks and racks of western style boots in all shades of brown, black and beige. Men's, women's and children sizes. Lots of cowboy hats, too! Plus some accessories like earrings, necklaces, belts - all bobjo and southwestern in style, think faux silver with turquoise and leather. There was a small clothing section with jackets, shirts, boho maxi dresses and jeans. Was very happy with my purchase and fear I'll be stopping in more frequently if my wallet can take it! Actually, the prices were very reasonable, it's just that I need absolutely nothing but love fashion and have zero willpower!

No matter, we're visiting Camas and my planned to window shop. Oh, yeah, I remember! It was cold outside, and being indoors keep you warmer. It's like window-shopping in Arizona, where it's so hot outside and being inside an AC keeps you cooler. I found they have the styles I LOVE to wear. Being a petite, short, well-traveled woman THIS is my store to be! I spotted shoes I'd buy in Spain. I spotted leather jacket, colors I don't own, size I wouldn't buy, but hey! It fits me perfectly when it's zip. It's got pockets, and zippers. I needed this jacket! The staff answered my questions, she helped me. But can you believe it? It's XL. That's a FIRST! Do I look like an EXTRA LARGE? I must be. But, this jacket is MINE! When I got home, and research more on the brand: It turned out, I just purchased the largest leather maker in Europe, and they sell other brands and it is the largest in the world! Woo hoo! We're heading there in March, and I couldn't afford to buy it at Neiman Marcus, but I could in Arktana. I also found out, they have another jacket, similar to my new jacket in the style of FLORI. But, this style, that I bought, I like it so much better. I am so glad we stopped there! Thank you, for letting me carry it back to our car, to hang, instead of wrapping it in something I will have to throw out. The photo, below is from the lining of my jacket. The heart reminds me: we bought it during our 50th Valentine's Day anniversary! :) I will have a birthday this month. So perfect!
