We found this store because they stock our dogs' frozen food, Northwest Naturals. We love this pet store. The people who work here are so knowledgeable and take time to make recommendations. They stock the best quality foods (not just those expensive brands with fancy labels)...and they know their products. Danni has been especially helpful with one of our guys who developed a minor health condition. After many $$s worth of testing, our vet wanted to put him on a drug that has side effects. Danni recommended a supplement that seems to be working and lessening our pup's issues. So thankful to have found Natural Pet NW and be able to support a local business. read more

Most of us have heard the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover." I can't count the times I've been past this store. I don't recall ever seeing it. However, I don't think if I had, I'd have gone inside. This store is a hidden gem off of 164th in East Vancouver. Usually I drive to a pet store on Hawthorne in NE Portland. Today, after work I decided the drive in would be alright, but to come home during rush hour would be a disaster... I would rather pull my toenails out with tweezers than sit in traffic today. Anyhow, I looked for a pet store on Yelp. I didn't find anything worthwhile in Vancouver. Then, I remembered a pet store my boyfriend mentioned to me that he found on Google. After paying a visit this evening, this place needs to be on the Yelp map! I was looking for a high quality dog food that both my dogs would enjoy eating and nutritionally benefit from. I called ahead and asked. The woman I talked to was knowledgeable and friendly. She even invited my dogs to come in and try a few samples. When I arrived I was so excited to see a wonderfully maintained store. It is so clean and the selection is staggering! I talked with someone else about the food I was considering purchasing and was sold within a few minutes. After that, I continued to browse. As I wandered the store, I found many items I haven't purchased because they've been exclusively sold online. They had them here. They have it all- cat trees, cat tubes (which I learned can be connected like the ones normally seen on hamster cages), special feeding bowls that help dogs eat slower, mutt-luks (dog boots), special harnesses, and even dog life jackets. Honestly, if you love your dog/cat and enjoy finding gifts you won't get in a Petco/Petsmart, this store is perfect. The staff is informative, friendly and are really concerned with you and your pet's happiness and well-being. They insisted that they carry out my 30 lb. bag of dog food and offered my pooches several natural treats, that Dae and Blitz scarfed down in a hurry! I adore my pets and have been in many pet stores. This has been my favorite experience ever shopping in one. Some may argue that they are a bit pricey. However, their merchandise is high-quality and very well made. read more

My wife and I have been coming here with our dogs since shortly after we moved to Vancouver. We love this store and the ladies that work there like they are family. They have supported us as customers and friends. We have Boxers and always ask these guys about any health and nutrition tips or questions. They love getting feedback on toy durability, treat preferences, and kibble tolerance; if you have any issues they readily recommend anything that would better the health of our dogs. We have brought our Mastiff, Hobbes, there since he was old enough to travel. It is a safe and comfortable place for dogs to visit and socialize. The ladies always spoil him with treats to better the experience. We show our Mastiff as amateurs and often see the ladies at dog shows with their Boxers. They give very valuable showing feedback, and they love to cheer on Hobbes. As long as my wife and I live near this store we will be customers. Thanks Natural Pet NW! read more

The reviewer that said they don't know what they're talking about is about as far from the truth then I can put into words. The sad truth is that there are WAY TOO MANY stupid vets. Just like doctors, there are plenty of bad vets. If you think that 8 years of school makes you smart, then you're not that smart! Their knowledge has saved my animal's life and saved me a ton of money. They all have extensive backgrounds with raising dogs and cats and all different kind of breeds. They are especially knowledgeable about breeds and common issues within those breeds. I am a customer for life! read more

I love this store! The staff are so helpful! i needed to change my dog food for dietary reasons, and they helped me pick the perfect food at a good price, and my dog loves it! They have natural treats, toys, and all sort of other goodies for our fur babies! won't go anywhere else for my cat and dog food. i also love that the owner's bring their beautiful dogs to work! read more

Oh My God!!! Do you realize that some commercially made dog foods (even some of the so-called "Premium" pet foods) are made with the rendered remains from other animals?!?!?! even cats and dogs with flea collars and diseases and ones that have been euthanized from the pound?!? WTF, People?!? That is just heart-wrenchingly sick and disgusting! I am SOOOO happy to have found Natural Pet NW!!! The staff is totally friendly and they are a full service food store that sells every different kind of organic and all natural pet foods. My dogs are 10+ years old now and they act just like puppies and I know it has everything to do with their diet. Natural Pet NW has everything from dog food to bird food and even natural pet supplies as well... I have been coming here for years and I would never even consider going anywhere else... It is AWESOME!!! If you love your pet, you have to get in here and read some of the literature and then find out exactly what your animals are really eating and make sure it is good for them!!! thought I would try them out after my bad experience at the dog shop next door. Took my dog in to buy him some treats. I picked out the treats, and was paying and of course my dog peed, I asked for paper towels to clean it up and they got all snotty about. You work on a petstore people - I don't know a dog that doesn't pee in the pet store. Won't be going back there again, unless I am driving by and my dog needs to pee. read more

While talking with someone about pet foods they mentioned Natural Pet NW. I was about to get some ferrets and was really in need of a good and reliable place to get food. I knew this was a cat and dog place but ferrets can eat certain cat foods. I went in with my list of top choices. The lady who helped me was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They carried almost all of the choices on my list and could have gotten me some of the others through special ordering. In addition she let me know that one of the ones they do not carry, was a bad choice in terms of how many unwanted chemicals were in it. I left with two bags of food and feeling very confident that they are a great place. I couldn't spend a lot of time looking around the store but what I saw impressed me. I would absolutely trust them with helping me find the right foods for my dogs, cats or ferrets. read more

I love this place! They have every kind of natural/healthy dog food/treats/toys/beds imaginable. I only have dogs so I can't vouch for other animals. When I got my first dog they gave me 8 different samples of food. They definitely don't carry your run of the mill Alpo - it's much better quality, and you'll pay quality prices for quality products. My 4lb bag of food costs about $17 and lasts nearly a month. They also have pretty fun treats. I like to pick up puppy cannolis for special occasions :) read more

I adopted a dog and he was having potty problems and getting sick all the time. I went the Natural Pet NW and they shared with me that it was likely the JUNK for food that I was feeding him. They gave me some samples of dog food to see which food he would like to eat and then guaranteed me that if I or the dog didn't like the food that I purchased... they would refund the money to me. I would have to have at least 50% of the food left in the bag but that was the only stipulation. I thought that was pretty neat since dog food can get kind of expensive. Then I found out that the brand of food I was buying has a buy 10 bags get the 11th free deal. Natural Pet NW was keeping track of it for me too so that I wouldn't forget or miss my free dog food. I needed a halter for my small, older dog and I went here and an employee fitted her with a halter that I then purchased. I did not touch the halter until we drove home about 8 blocks away. I found a hole in the halter when I was removing it. I had emergency surgery 2 days later so I was not able to return it for a month. The store owner claimed my dog bit the harness and that is why it had a hole and I was returning it too late and would not give me my money back or exchange it. I'm totally out of luck. I feel the halter was very poor product. If a small old dog like mine can wear it for 15 minutes and it tears, it's not made of good material and any business that does not back up their merchandise, does not care about their customers. We recently moved to Vancouver and I was so happy to find a local, natural pet store. I have two dogs and I found both of their food there. The staff is welcoming and answered questions for me on fleas and ticks (something I didn't have to worry about in Alaska). They were knowledgeable and encouraged me to return anytime with questions. I have shopped here for several years and really like the store and the employees. I have compared my expenses here against Petco costs and find them at least as reasonable if not better over time. I usually get a free bag of food for every 10 I buy. If the food doesn't work out they will take it back. Great treats and toys and fun stuff and beds for cats and dogs. ywin read more

I was so surprised to see the negative post about the employees at natural pet Nw. I have been going to this store since before they enlarged it and have always found the employees and the owner to be cheerful, helpful , caring,and obviously great lovers of dogs and cats. there are some things(beds, carriers) that might be considered pricey but they are clearly high end items and there are many things that are good deals. their pet food prices are about the same as similar places and they have items i can't find elsewhere, at great prices. I have cats, and their cat trees are not cheap but they are also great prices for the type they have.very sturdy and innovative in styles. i have always noticed how great they are with dogs . perhaps you were there on an off day but i really can;t imagine any of them "talking smack" about anyones dog! As to someone saying something different about a vets diagnosis? Wellll.... we all have opinions and i am actually glad that someone offers suggestions. If i had not listened to someone differing from one vets opinion, i would not have had my cat live as long as she did. Vets are humans too, and can make a mistake and sometimes have not kept up to speed on changes in medicine. anyway i think natual pet nw is great. always helpful, fun place to go and when you need to change foods , or try something new, you can find samples of the new food you are considering or they will suggest one to try.. I was a regular customer. I was there yesterday getting treats for my dogs in fact but this morning saw my puppy's new favorite toy was ripping under the arms at the seam after a week. I called and the cashier said they couldn't take it back without the packaging. My dog loved the toy why would I keep a package. It's been one week. I didn't even care about my money back. I just want to get a new one. They refused. Saying they needed the packaging. If I exchanged it. They would of taken that package. Soooo disappointed. I won't frequent it again. They lost a good regular customer for a defective puppy toy. Hope it was worth it. I just wanted an exchange. Very sad as I used to really love this place. read more

The people that have been working here have been there forever which makes it nice to see the same faces. They sell great, health products for my dogs and cats. They help me carry the bags to the car. This is not over priced food. The premium food I buy is cheaper than the CRAP I was buying at PetsMart! I love seeing their smiling faces when I come walking in the door! I was at the store when the customers dog peed referring to the 10-18-14 negative review. The girls at the store always clean up the dog pee so they don't have to have the customer clean it up. If the pee is not cleaned up well, every dog after will want to mark the spot. There was no snotty attitude about how you were treated. After your dog peed, you still didn't take him out to finish. I was standing right there as everyone was scrambling to clean it up. The staff at Natural Pet NW are the best of any store we've ever shopped at, Maybe you read the situation wrong.
