I had a really good experience here, I took my dog to the vet and decided she needed to pick a treat out for being such a good girl. I looked up local pet shops near me and mudbay was close and had good reviews. My pup is an anxious girl so I wasn't sure how she would feel about the atmosphere. She was greeted by a sweet woman that offered a free treat, right then my dog knew this was a good place. We walked around the store and they had lots of different options for food, treats and miscellaneous items. It's hard not to grab one of everything. We landed on a few different specialty bones, and a buckets of variety treats my girl got to choose for herself. And of course a few wet food options of the kitty at home. The staff was helpful throughout when I had questions and was very kind. I definitely am looking forward to coming back and filling up her special mudbay bucket again where we will get 15% off. Love this place and super glad my friend recommended it. Bought a birthday cake and some bones for my golden retriever for her 3rd birthday and she loved them. The birthday cake was shared with her and my roommates pups and they all enjoyed it. Cake was big enough to have it multiple days spread out through the week. Also the store has a section for resources for both kitties and pups with information for many different things. I definitely will be back for more. This is really just one of the best places to shop for your pets! All of the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, they have a wide array of healthy food alternatives to the crap most big box stores sell (I'm looking at you, Purina and Alpo!), tons of tasty treats (not that I have tried them, mind you!), clothes, costumes, accessories and pretty much anything you can think of. And the best part is that the prices are not completely outlandish like most boutique pet stores. I can't recommend this place enough! read more

We've seen Mud Bay stores in other places, but we hadn't stopped in because we prefer to support smaller, local businesses, but one night, out adventuring at different spots in our new area, we stopped in at the Fisher's Landing Mud Bay store, and WOW did we have FUN! First... and don't laugh... we played with cat litter. They had display cat boxes out with a different litter in each one. Then they had a spray bottle of (what I hope was) simulated cat pee (it smelled convincingly like the real thing..ha!). We went down the line, spraying into each box and scooping out the "waste" to test which one we preferred. And who knew - that's what it took to sell me off of the big box at the grocery store and buy one of theirs. It was amazing, but because it *is* more expensive, I would never have bought it without knowing how awesome it was first. Well done, Mud Bay! (And honestly, it was kind of fun, too, in a weird way.) We had fun playing with the various toys, guessing which one our old lady dog would like (that's right, we were playing, but our dog wasn't with us). When we got over to the flea remedies, the sales lady came over and gave us her input. We didn't end up buying any that night, but it was so great of her to spend time explaining the qualities of the various choices. They also have a great display stand with printouts of all the different issues and questions you come across as a pet owner and how to deal with them. The information was fantastic. Yes, I can easily Google best feeding practices for my geriatric cat, but it was thoughtful of them to have this information prepared as I may not have considered that I should think of his feeding differently than I did a few years ago. I appreciate that they provided me with information I didn't even know I needed! As we checked out (buying that amazing cat litter, of course!) the sales lady threw in treats that both our cat and dog could eat (dehydrated chicken) as well as a lovely thank you card hand written by the manager with a coupon for a future visit. I know we can buy our litter at other places and online, but this store has our future business! read more

Although a bit spendy, I love mud Bay. I've never had a bad experience with any of the employees or any of the products that they have. All the employees are extremely knowledgeable in all kinds of foods. And don't judge if you decide to do something unconventional with your pup. I love that I am able to try out certain things products and/or even foods at the store and if my GSD doesn't approve I'm able to return the product with no hesitation. We recently got a dog from the Humane Society and they gave us some Mud Bay coupons, so we decided to check it out. My wife and I thought it was going to be a super spendy place, but the prices are actually very reasonable. The customer service is outstanding. After adopting my dog from SE Washington Humane Society, I was given coupons for Mud Bay, 1 lb of FREE homemade dog biscuits plus 10% off any bag of food! YES PLEASE! I am a first time dog owner, so this whole thing is very new to me. Mud Bay was warm and welcoming, nothing better than a locally owned pet store based around the idea of all-natural foods and prolonging the life of your animal! After a few weeks of getting my new pup, it was very apparent she had quite a few health issues as well as serious anxiety and food allergies...roll of the dice when adopting a full grown rescue animal. I found my Veterinarian to be on a very different page than me when it came to options for helping my dog. After being told to put my dog on a prescription of PROZAC for life, I went to Mud Bay for some advice. Barbara is by far, my favorite employee here! She remembers who I am as well as my dog and the issues we have been working thru. I have now been able to find a food that no longer makes my pup sick as well as great treat ideas and calming alternatives for her anxiety. It may not be the cheapest store in town, but by far more than worth it! They carry items that cannot be found at any typical chain pet store. They also are very open-minded to raw diets, and carry numerous options if that is something you are interested in trying. At the very least, they can offer reading material to give a better idea of what you may be getting into. You can ask for samples of almost anything they carry. Pet food in general is not cheap, so having the piece of mind to test things out is great! And if you do end up purchasing food that your animal refuses, they will except returns on anything, no matter how much or little was used (as long as its in the original bag!). They want your pet experience to be amazing and they have certainly helped me limp thru some very tough few weeks with my new dog! read more

Horrible place. I walked in to pick up some cat food, and walked down the aisle and a dog barked at me. Not a yip or yap but a BIG ASS LOUD bark the kinda that makes a person jump out of the skin and get the hell off a persons property kind of bark. It scared the crap out of me and startled me. I am sorry but I bee lined out of there as fast as I could. I have dogs and love dogs but am animal that loud does not belong in a store. I will not return. read more

This store is a bit out of the way for me since I live in East Washougal but I will come here any time I need pet needs. They aren't huge like Petsmart or Petco but they carry local and specialty items that you won't find at the other stores. I don't have to worry about the quality of any items I purchase there. It's like buying Groceries at New Seasons. The people that work there are PHENOMENAL. I had Ryann help me today and she answered every question that I threw at her including the best collar for a dog that loses hair from collars, which harness is best for my 65 lb Pit puppy rescue while walking on a leash, what helps said pup stop eating his own poo, which food is best for my 90 Pit/Rot rescue that has skin irritations, which food is best for my Pit puppy and his loose stools and her opinion on the new FDA findings (or lack of) of grain free food for large dogs. Ryann had an answer for everything - she is very knowledgeable (as everyone is that works there). They will always give you samples and treats for your pups. They also carry the best floor cleaner for accidents that is biodegradable and is made in Oregon. Can't go wrong at this store!! read more

Adore this shop and their friendly, educated staff! I came here looking for an all-natural supplement and canned food for my dog's urinary health after being diagnosed with a UTI and bladder stones. Not only did they direct me to their "Tinkle Tonic", their staff also took the time to explain to me why a high-moisture diet would be beneficial for her now and in the future. (I was only looking for canned food as my dog's appetite had dropped and she needed to eat on a schedule to take her medicine.) They offered their suggestions in dehydrated food as a more economical option that ended up being comparable in price to her existing dry kibble. When she ended up having an allergic reaction to the grained formula, they gladly took it back, offered a full refund, and will donate the unused portion to a local shelter. I have passed MB so many times and never realized it was a pet store. Finally my daughter pointed it out that they may have some fancy shoes for our elderly dog who has been slipping on our hardward floor. What a fun store. My kids and wander through the store, finding things that we would have never have seen in the pet store chains like "Yak Cheese Puffs". The gentleman who rang up was very helpful in letting me know that if the shoes/socks didn't work out that I can bring them back; gave us some samples to give to our dog; and as a thank you for being a first time customer gave us a $5 coupon with a handwritten thank you note from the staff. read more

I love Mudbay, and I've been to multiple Mudbays, mostly in the Olympia WA area, all of which have been staffed with excellent employees. This one however, the employees treated me with less respect. The first time I visited this location with my fiancé, we were excited to be around fellow muddies again considering we both used to work for the company in another location a while back, but we didn't get anywhere near close to the reaction from them that we expected. Every time I go in now for my cat food, I feel awkward and like I can't be myself around the majority of the employees of the store, they dodge my glances, and they give mediocre responses if I have any questions or comments about new products. This isn't supped to be how muddy's treat their customers. I've since been ordering my food on chewy, or else I'd go to the Portland stores where the customer service is a little more welcoming and fun. Ultimately, my experience of the interaction in this store was similar to that in a target. Maybe I shouldn't have excitedly told them I used to be an employee at another store in the past..? Then just maybe they'd have treated me like the other positive reviewers on yelp. read more

I have been having some pretty severe skin allergy issues with my pup. A friend recommended I give Mud Bay a try (after several vet visits, two food changes, and other meds, etc.) Ashley was awesome. She listened to my history, gave me information about different foods based on what we've already tried. We also found a new treat, a spray to help with my dog's recent breakout (thanks to additional products used by the groomer) I was just so happy with the level of service they provided and how well informed they are. I love this store. I don't have a pet, and I love this store. I work in a dog-friendly office, and so like many of my co-workers, I like to have treats on hand for the pups. Mud Bay has this deal where you buy the container, and each time you refill it, you get a discount. So no waste from buying boxes of treats (and honestly, I pay less for the quality treats than the ones from the grocery store)! You pay by the weight - and you can pick from any and all of the healthy treats they have in the bins. The office dogs seem to really like all the treats. When I recently told them that this was for our office, they slid in a couple of sample packs! I have turned several co-workers and friends on to them as a result, I think the prices are more than reasonable and it is evident these folks really, really, like pets! read more

I discovered Mud Bay just a few months ago (Jan 2016) looking to change from Iams cat food to a more natural product~ Wow, was my cat in for a treat! Alyssa helped me pic and choose flavors and brands that would be best for my cat (15 yr old, indoor/outdoor). She also gave me many samples to try (Who does that, right??) Plus, for spending over $20, she gave me a coupon for $5 off my next visit of $25 or more! My cat loves the food! All of it! She also gave me a sample for my cats sneezing (springtime allergies). The product was "Spry, respiratory & ocular support". I crushed a nugget and mixed with his food, once in the am and once in the pm. No more sneezing after 3 full days of it, OMG, it made him feel so much better. We are so happy, Alyssa is so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, as was Reed who helped me the next time I came in.
