We have been taking our pups to K9 since they opened the doors, for playcare and grooming. Owners Marc and Kris love dogs and the staff they hire does too. The lobby looks like an art installation with all the toys, treats, harnesses, collars, etc. Most importantly, the dogs in their care are beyond safe. There are adequate, caring staff, and every safeguard is in place. Vaccinations of all dogs are required and monitored. Our dogs love everything about k9, and we'd be lost without/o them. This daycare REQUIRES you to bring your dog in at a minimum 2-3x per month. In Sept, I paid $35 for a 4 hour evaluation, which was a red flag already, as my dog has been a regular at 3 daycares in Portland and I've never had to pay for an evaluation. After the evaluation, they told me it's "recommended" (see proof attached) to bring your dog in within the next week and then a minimum of 2-3x per month. That was a total bait and switch. Why is this policy not stated on their website? Why wasn't I told that upfront? I would not have bothered with an evaluation then. I don't see the point in paying for daycare services that I don't need. Also, since it was "recommended" and not required, I did not bring my dog in. Two months after the evaluation, I brought my dog in today for daycare. Joshua told me that since I hadn't brought my dog in for regular visits, that was going to be an issue. I explained it wasn't required. When I returned to pick up my dog, he wanted me to schedule more daycare for my dog to come in. I already decided I would take my business elsewhere. The fact that he thought I would continue taking my dog there is a joke. All I'm asking is: be upfront about your requirements and policies. We had been taking our dog there for awhile. We were happy with the hair grooming of our dog. But this last visit many things were different. They carried him out to us and he seemed lethargic and could barely walk out of there. He got progressively worse on the drive home and was non responsive to his name, pupils dilated, could not eat or drink, could not stand or walk. We called the groomers within a few minutes of leaving their place and asked if they gave our dog a sedative because he seemed worse. They said no. They said they didn't give him anything but he was with them for 2 1/2 hours and he was fine and running and playing before we took him and when they handed him to us (which he normally comes out walking or on a leash) he was sedated. We took him to emergency Vet and they said that he had all the symptoms of marijuana. They said it take marijuana 30 to 60min to work. The groomer says they did not give this to our dog. Our dog did not look even close to as groomed as he usually is, more like trimmed in a few spots. Anyway, he had to get IV fluids and was sedated all night and could not move and was Incontinent. It took until the next day for him to be able to move. They did follow up with us to check on our dog but still this sort of thing should not happen when you take your dog in to get groomed. read more

I took my dog here to be groomed yesterday. I just want to say first that the space is really cute, the shop has some neat stuff for dogs, and the co-owner had great customer service. If I were doing a review of those things, the review would have five stars. The groomer herself seemed nice. I showed her a picture of what I wanted done. The photo was of a Pomeranian with a slightly shorter cut but with his top coat still present. I also said I did not want my dog's fur cut into his undercoat. She said it wouldn't be. Pomeranians have a special double coat that can but shouldn't be cut into. When I picked him up, his fur was much shorter than what I wanted. At the time I figured, why make a fuss about it? The fur is gone. And he still looked cute (but then, he always does). But looking at his haircut today, I am upset that the groomer did not listen to what I wanted. Instead of scissoring his hair, it looks like she just used clippers to shave him down. I would rather she had taken too little fur than too much. I would not recommend bringing a Pomeranian here to be groomed. The more I look at my dog, the lumpier his fur looks because of his undercoat showing through, and the more upset I am that the groomer did not give my dog the cut I asked for. Shaving down a Pom is a big deal, and I'm upset the groomer did it when that was the opposite of what I wanted. read more

I adopted two 3 year old Great Danes a couple months ago and this is the first time I have ever taken them to a groomer. I was nervous to say the least. We were so excited to try this place out for the dog daycare because of the good reviews, and the fact they support local dog parks. I used to bring one of my poodles here for haircuts, and I've always enjoyed chatting with the owner, Mark. But today, we had the worst customer experience I've had from this place. We scheduled a temperament test via phone with Mark. The female owner called the night before at 5 pm on a Sunday and let us know we had to print out all the forms and fill them out. Fast forward to today, we arrived at 7:36 am. We were only SIX (6) mins late. The female owner wasn't even at the front desk when we arrived, and another customer was waiting at the front desk for service. She came out and asked if we were here for the temperament test at 7:39 am, and we said yes. She responded, "Oh, okay. it will be a couple of minutes." And then I said "No problem. That will give me enough time to fill out all the forms we printed last night". She circled back into a room for a second and came back said to us, "oh, you are 10 mins late, and you don't have the forms ready, we will have to reschedule you." Neither did Mark, or the female owner's voicemail, or the website say anything about the importance of being EXACTLY ON TIME via the phone or voicemail ( and yes, we double-checked the voicemail ), otherwise they will have to reschedule us. I got extremely upset and went back in and told her that it's ridiculous that she wants us to reschedule because we were a few mins late. She said, "But you didn't fill out all the forms." I responded: "Yes, we are sorry about that. But you said we have to wait. Why can't we fill out all the forms while waiting for you?" She responded with, "Yeah, it will take about 10 mins for you to fill out the forms." There were precisely six pages of paperwork we need to fill out, and half of them are contract terms. Yeah, if you have never filled out a form in your entire life, maybe you will need 10 mins. If you are short on staff in the morning ( let's be real. There was only one person at the front desk waiting, and the female owner already looked super overwhelmed), that's fine. But DO NOT make this our problem and make us have to reschedule. We understand running a business sometimes can be overwhelming. But as a business owner, you also have to recognize no one is perfect. Being this strict with the arrival time and paperwork is a little ridiculous. And having the response like what we got today was VERY MUCH unacceptable. read more

We have taken our Golden doodle here 3 times. The first time we had Jamie who did a fabulous job. It was a face and feet trim. I would give her 10 stars . The second time we we we had Kaylee. And she did a horrible job. The 3rd time we had Kaylee again and had I would have known she would not have gone. I scheduled a bath , face and feet trim. We have a big very furry puppy. When we got there she said point blank she would not give her a bath. She said she has too much hair and very matted. We spend a lot of care into Molly and we brush her every night. The only way she would give her a bath is if we had her shaved completely. Then it comes out that it would take too long to dry. So I stuck with the face trim. I asked her not to shave the bridge of her nose as she did before. Molly comes out and she shaved her nose again. It's very sad when employees can make the call and not what the clients want. The gentleman at the front desk just said that is the way she is and she makes her calls of what she wants to do. Bad business practice!! read more

I love everything about K-9 to Five!! I drop off my crazy doodle Taki about 2 to 3 times a week and as soon as we get off of 14 onto 192nd he starts going crazy he knows exactly where he is going and loves it. Pulling into the parking lot the excitement gets even worse he starts whimpering and barking at this point, I park the car and he is ready to get out anyway possible. As soon as the leash is on and the car door is open he bolts out of the car and runs to the front door. He never bolts like that except for when we get here. He is only 10 months old and I can tell you that even after training etc the socialization is such an important factor. I know he is in safe hands of people who honestly and truly love dogs. As soon as Taki is in the play area I always see John (I hope I spelled his name right) pick up Taki and hug and kiss him. I am thankful that I found an alternative to dog parks. I know that the dogs here aren't aggressive and dog fights won't break out. Chris is very good with the initial temperament testing to make sure that your pup is a fit for the group and monitors that all dogs are up to date on there shots. I wanted a dog for 20 years and as soon as we sent our last kid off to college we figured it was the right time for our family to get one so he is my companion and I love him like I love my kids. I highly recommend K-9 to Five to anyone everywhere I go that has a pup who is looking for a safe, clean and healthy environment where their dogs can play and work out some of that energy or need a quality grooming. I am comfortable and confident in the fact that I know Taki will come home safe and sound (just really tired from all the play and love he gets). First off, I LOVE the fact that I live right across from a dog grooming service that doubles as a daycare type facility. Just the thought of a bunch of dogs playing with each other for reasonable prices in a safe environment makes my heart melt, but that's not why I gave this place 5 stars. I just moved into the state less than a week ago, my mini poodle was in desperate need of a nail trim and all over grooming. I came in, scheduled an appointment, and when they saw my pup they actually trimmed her nails, shaved her paws, and cut her hair so she could see better for FREE, BEFORE the actual grooming appointment. Brandy is definitely in the right place because her clear compassion for animals is right in line with K-9 to Five's mission. I'd recommend this place to anybody wanting a non-generic, warmhearted experience for their pup. read more

The anytime drop off up to 1pm allows max flexibility. I enjoy coming to a newer space which is bright and welcoming, unlike most other daycare options which feel like a warehouse or are not in great repair, and is kept clean all the time. I'm an owner/operator of a mobile grooming business out of state. My dog desperately needed a bath after enjoying the rainy northwest weather. The self service tubs here were spotless! Super clean and everything I needed was in reach. The staff are the real highlight of the facility. Warm and welcoming, right at hand with anything you need but not hovering over you. Will use them again when I'm back in the area. Also to note they have daycare here and the dogs were active but quiet. So nice not having to listen to barking dogs while spending time with my own. We visited K9-5 today for grooming our miniature schnauzer. They were very professional, checking with us on how we wanted to have him look once he was groomed. They seemed very interested in making us and our dog happy. They did a beautiful job and Norm was still very friendly with the staff when we picked him up. We did the "car-side service" due to the COVID-19. The staff was extremely accommodating over the phone when I told them my boy is scared of men. They had a woman come get him, and she was so patient with him. My dog is afraid of the groomers or vet. She was very sensitive and aware of his fear. She and I were able to get him out of the car in the least stressful way for him. And once he was in the building, he was out so quickly and actually looked happy and calm! He wasn't shaking at all (which is unheard of!) We did a nail grind and anal gland expression and he looks great. As soon as we got home, he's been prancing around and wagging his tail. Updating this review because now my boy uses the doggy day care and has had his first grooming. I'll start with daycare. I bring him in to wear him out and he is loved like he is their favorite every time and I can tell they treat every pup this way. All of the staff is just so full of love! While he was in daycare today he got groomed for the first time. Brandy was so patient with him as he was afraid of many of the new noises, she took her time to make sure he was comfortable with each step and not stressed out. I just can't say enough about this amazing place! This place is fantastic! Immediately upon walking in I was greeted with enthusiasm and kindness. It was my first visit and this time I was just there to use the self wash station, but I will be back. This setup is perfect! We were treated to all the shampoo and towels we could want. The tubs were a perfect height for me so no back pain bending to wash my pup. Even the spray nozzle handles are the perfect comfortable grip and have a latch to keep the spray on without holding it the entire time. There are even aprons to keep you dry and clean. I plan on coming back for grooming and doggie daycare. Oh I didn't even mention the location, just down from the dog park which was perfect for us today as my pup found some left behind poo to roll around in! We have taken our chocolate lab to a few groomers in town. Wilco was one of them and while they did a decent job it would take days to even get a return phone call For an appointment plus the quality of the grooming had gone down hill. This is what brought me to trying K9 to Five. From the first phone conversation it was extremely educational especially in regards to nail care specific to labs which I never knew about. The shop and doggy daycare area was extremely clean and the animals all Looked very happy to be there. the groomer was awesome and very knowledgeable and my dog loved her. One thing that my whole family has noticed is that our dog still smells good 24 hours later which has never been the case with previous grooming experiences. I've been looking for the perfect groomer to trim/grind my pup's nails since I moved to this area two years ago. I brought him in here today for the first time and cannot sing the praises of this place highly enough. It's clean and cute and full of highly professional, sincerely friendly dog people. The groomer, Brandy, is the first person that has EVER taken my small, nervous, trembling dog into her arms and spoken soothingly to him as she carried him to the back room to have his nails done. And unlike anyone else who has ever done his nails, Brandy took her time to do each one carefully vs. racing to get it done in under five minutes like everyone else seems to. My dog will never like having his feet touched but he was a bajillion times less stressed when the job was done than he has ever been anywhere else and his nails are perfect. Our pooch Charlie just loves Jaime! She always does a fantastic job, and knows when he needs deshedding. She pays particular attention to making sure he is thoroughly dry, as he has had a problem with "hot neck" from a previous groomer. K-9 to Five is consistently clean, on time, and the staff is very friendly. They offer curbside drop off and pickup of your fur baby if necessary. Came here a few weeks ago to get my two dogs for grooming. I had to book nearly two and a half weeks out but based on good reviews and not feeling comfortable with other options nearby for my dogs who are dog meat trade rescues and can't be in cages/kennels ever, I opted to wait for the opening. I had an 8:30 appointment for both dogs to get baths and nail trims. Someone called the night before to confirm the appointment for the next morning and reminded me to bring vaccination records, which I appreciated. As it was my first visit I showed up at 8:17 figuring that would give me enough time to give them the information they needed for the dogs and for the dogs to get settled before their baths. I was tersely greeted by the guy at the front desk who informed me that the groomer hadn't arrived yet and could I "just wait 15 minutes." I explained it was my first time here and I needed to take care of whatever intake was needed before the appointment so I could make my 9am work meeting. It was also surprising to me that the service provider wouldn't be there 15 minutes before their first appointment of the day. Front desk guy said he could take the dogs back and put them in a kennel to wait until the service provider arrived. I again explained that I'd had a lengthy conversation when I booked the appointment about my pups not being able to be kept in cages or kennels because they are rescues and that would be traumatizing for them AND that the person said they'd make notes in the computer so everyone was aware. Front desk guy basically couldn't have cared less though and told me having them put in cages was my only option...you guys do daycare, couldn't they have gone to play with other pups for a few before their service? When I pushed back he again asked if I "really couldn't wait another 15 minutes." I again explained that I couldn't and said it sounded like they needed to reschedule us for another time. Asking if it would take another two weeks for me to get rescheduled to which he said "yeah it looks like it." Honestly, it was such an appalling and disappointing customer experience I walked out and won't be rebooking or recommending this business to any of my dog owner friends. read more

Being in need to give our Labradoodle Penny a bath, I found K-9 to Five close to our home. When I called, I got lots of information and felt that this might be just what I was looking for. Penny and I went to visit and she felt right at home. We got her bathed and were very pleased with the service. I have already scheduled Penny for grooming in a few weeks. I found the pricing to be very competitive, the location convenient, and the staff more than helpful. I especially like that they take drop-ins without an appointment. This place was a little more$ than what I was used to spending, but the groomer gave him special treatment, she kept him away from all the dogs so he was comfortable and his cut was very professional. Everyone here was incredibly nice! I got to talk to the groomer before she took my dog. They only kept her the time it took and called me 30 minutes before she was done which I really appreciated.
