I was so excited to find a new groomer right by my house but I was so disappointed. Right when I got there the lady was so rude to me. I said I wanted him "cleaned up" and wanted his hair shorter but not quite shaved. I guess this wasn't enough for her because she insisted that I tell her exactly what I wanted and saying cleaned up means "nothing to her". I showed her a picture of the last time he was groomed and she said "that tells me nothing". Every groomer I've used in the past helps me figure out the best cut, but she was not interested in helping me out at all. Sorry I'm not in the industry and don't know exactly what to ask for. I just felt like such a bother to her. He did end up looking great and it only took them about an hour but I am just too disappointed with how I was treated to go back. read more

Hey Peeps, A good groomer is hard to find, as I discovered and let my poor pups endure after leaving Pet Spa. Never again! Heather was adamant, and so I respected her judgment, so when my beautiful old border collie was snapping at her and she didn't feel safe, I respected that. To this day, my beautifu,l cranky oldl boy was in my arms. Heather helped me to see that he needed my love instead of my help. He died only a few months later, but lived in comfort and without pain. Heather was right. I still bring my little pup to her, and this special dog-of-my-heart gets a beautiful bath and haircut, and peaceful nail trimming. She LOVES Pet Spa. Can't argue with a beloved dog about that. read more

if I could give no stars I would. Let me start off by saying that we have been clients for over seven years. during that time, Heather always made us feel like she was doing us a favor to groom our dogs. She insisted we had to book out a year in advance in order to get in. The dogs were really reluctant to visit, even after all those years. additionally, they always came home super thirsty. She was never friendly to us or our dogs. We wanted and needed to get one of our dogs in sooner than every three months, but Heather insisted that she did not have time for more. Additionally, when we asked if we could book some baths and nail trims in between the groomings, she said they didn't offer that. So this resulted in our dog always looking overgrown about one month out of the three. That being said, we really needed and depended on our grooming when it was scheduled. However, last appointment , my bad, I overslept 15 minutes and realized it as soon as I woke up. I called Heather to tell her I would be on my way and the dogs would be there in five minutes as we live close by. I was told Heather had stepped out and would call me back as soon as she came in. In other words, she had an appointment with us, but she left without calling us. I waited two hours and then called back asking when we could bring the dogs and they said Heather was not back yet . She never phoned us and just blew us off. We're thinking after this many years of our loyalty, that her unprofessionalism showed us just how much we were not appreciated, so became the last straw. as a result, we have found a much better overall experience with another groomer. read more

Heather is amazing. I have 2 young Persian cats and I have brought them to her for lion cuts when their coats get out of hand and they always look incredible and smell so delicious that i almost want to eat them. I am going to start going more regularly for maintenance and baths because my cats deserve regular grooming and Heather is such a magnificent groomer. read more

From big to small, all of our pets enjoy the care they receive at Pet Spa NW. They take care of them, and have even bonded with a couple of them. I took my dog for nails clip and had both hind feet bleeding all over my car. My dog was screaming while cutting her nails and I popped in to remind her that she have a long quick and she replied she knows what she's doing. She cut one third of her quick. Yay, I finally found a place to bring my pup for nail trims, and he actually enjoys it! They used the dremel instead of the clippers, and mentioned that he much preferred that method which is fine by me. This place looked nice from the outside, inside was exceptionally clean and smell-free and there is a connected shop for leashes, harnesses, treats, etc (though payment between the shop and spa are separate). I found a really nice harness that goes around just the belly (not the neck) which makes putting it on and taking it off a lot easier for us and comfortable for our dog especially since we leave a collar on him. Everyone was really friendly. I'm happy to have found a great dog spa near our new home. Perhaps our dog will go in for a full hair trim some day. My dogs are my kids and I'm super picky about where I take them. I have been going to Jordan at Pet Spa for years now. Both of my dogs (I have a puppy and a senior) look forward to going every 6 weeks and both are treated like royalty there. I never have to worry about them and they come home clean and looking great. Yes, they only take cash - but so what. I stop at the ATM on my way there to get cash every time. I appreciate this is a local business and they are trying to save on fees. I Have 2 bigger dogs that shed a ton and they do a great job of brushing all their extra hair off. Highly recommend; won't take my dogs anywhere else. read more

The groomer that my dog has had for years does not like my dog. The last time we went in for a grooming, my dog was out of her mind with terror. I have never seen her act like this to any other human. When I left my dog there, the groomer told me that my dog is difficult. Yes, she is. She was an abused rescue dog, and also a small breed known for hyperactivity. But isn't that what groomers are trained to help with? Not with this groomer. read more

I made an appt for my SuzyQ to be bathed. When I brought her in, they were going to keep her rather than have me wait. For almost $50 they were going to work on other dogs at the same time AND KENNEL MY BABY GIRL. They should have told me this when I made the appt! NO ONE kennels my dog!!!! I gave these guys 3 try's with my dog. Each time they had an excuse for why they didn't finish brushing My lab. This time I saw what happened. They put my 70lbs dog in a small kennel which I think they called a dryer... He started barking because he doesn't have a kennel at home. The "fake friendly" acting lady said "that's the problem, he can't go in the dryer so we couldn't finish him". Ok... My problem with this statement: 1- Is the dryer the only way to dry a dog? No there are many ways to get him dry. I have an idea... A blow dryer or a towel or both. 2- My dog is part of my family and I feel like he doesn't need a kennel... Don't make me feel like I'm a bad person because I do things different then you. 3- Don't make your problem my dogs fault. Use your brain to earn a living. Figure out a solution to the problem to make the customer happy. I do this everyday in my line of business. From the looks of it outside I had my doubts (I don't know why, it just didn't look that impressive). But then I talked to my sister and she had taken her dogs there for grooming and said they had done a great job. So I took my girl puppy there just for nail trimming. She is very difficult when it comes to cutting her nails and I needed them done. I walked in and my puppy and I were warmly greeted by one of the groomers and the owners sister. I explained that my puppy was 'difficult' so they assigned her to Elie. Elie took her back and completed in approximately 5 minutes what would have taken me 1-2 hours to complete (if it got completed at all). My puppy came out and was still licking Elie's face after that so I know it went very well! While my puppy was getting the nail trim; the owner's sister, Cheryl showed me around the agility area out back - rentalable for training, the self-service dog wash-very clean, and the pet supplies area; where they purchase local products if possible and all products from snacks to collars are made in the US. The facility was clean, warm, and comforting. I was so impressed by the professional and caring attitude of the entire staff and the impressive facilities. I will definitely bring my girl puppy and her brother back for baths and nail trims. read more

We've been taking our dogs to Pet Spa in Washougal for quite a while now. We've always been delighted with their grooming skills and they really seem to go out of their way to make us happy. I can't say one bad thing about Pet Spa, I highly recommend giving them a try. There actually the first pet grooming place that I usually give them a tip above their fee being they do go the extra mile taking care of our two little dogs. To me anyway, my groomer deserves a few extra dollars when I have it to give! As long as I have a dog that needs grooming, I'll continue to go to Pet Spa for all my dogs grooming needs! read more

We love Pet Spa NW! We went to PetSmart for a while but were pretty disappointed in the consistency and price (and they ignored my request NOT to cut my dog's nails because they had just been done, so he came out trimmed and bleeding). The team at Pet Spa is so friendly, and the dogs always come out looking beautiful and happy. They're even wagging on the way in! The prices are very reasonable, you can do services a-la-carte, but be sure to bring in cash (they don't take cards for grooming, only for stuff in the shop). We also love the dog food and treats they have available, and they were really sweet about our dogs doing a taste test to decide which one to go with. Horrible customer Service...feel discriminated I want to deduce first off, that the groomers do a wonderful job here, for the two years we have been coming. They have always treated our 2 year old Newfoundland with great care, even as an unruly pup. I was told by the owner a month ago that the self wash was not available to big dogs anymore because of the mess. Completely understandable, but nothing was said about grooming. Just recently, he had an appointment, where I was greeted by the groomer AND the owner. It was not until I was five minutes gone and on to work, that the owner called to inform me they don't take big dogs anymore. She then said that if I still wanted him groomed, it would be $130, as apposed to the normal $80-90 we were accustomed to! At this point, I couldn't come back for him. Evidentially, this price change and policy was not communicated to anyone involved. Not only do I feel this is terrible customer service ....she could have mentioned this change while I was standing in the store.....but I feel a bit discriminated against. I know we are not the only large dog they see regularly. We really love supporting local businesses, but I'm sorry we won't support them anymore. read more

Clean, professional grooming with great attention to detail! Pet Spa was recommended by a family friend years ago for our cranky, blind, old Lhasa. Pet Spa was the only place that didn't trigger anxiety and aggression in her, and we now bring our Griffon Poo to Pet Spa as well. I recommend Heather, especially if you own a Doodle. She is fast and very knowledgeable on skin care as well. I will continue to make the 25 minute drive for piece of mind and happy dogs! read more

I cannot recommend Pet Spa NW enough! We'd taken Bailey our Border Collie there for years and they have always been so patient and gentle with her. Even as she aged, got sore, and wasn't as agreeable as she was in her younger years, they never changed. They ALWAYS and CONSISTENTLY treated her with respect, love, patience and kindness. They understood her personality and were able to work with Bailey on her terms, getting her a cut, nail trim and bath quicker and easier than even we could! Bailey recently passed away, and I've taken longer to write this than I intended, but Pet Spa still has a special place in my heart. I will not ever hesitate to bring any of my future pets there. You can tell all their focus is 100% about your pet, from the time you arrive to the time you leave. When we'd go in to drop her off they'd always ask for Bailey's name (not mine or my wife's) and would look her up with that info. They treated Bailey as if she was one of their very own and Bailey could tell. She was a rescue dog and not trusting of most people. In fact, you might say she was suspicious of the majority of people, especially in an atmosphere with other dogs (probably from her days in the pound). However, she always trusted the staff and didn't have a problem being dropped off there for a day of grooming. I might even say the older she got the more she began to enjoy her day at the spa! To many dog groomers it's all about the business, and you can tell that in the way they handle your dog, the attitude of the staff, etc. For Pet Spa NW, however, it's all about the pets. Not only can you tell that, but even more importantly, your pets can surely tell!!! read more

I will never return here. I went in for the self wash which I was a bit shocked that it cost $14- Other stores have self wash for S10 with more space. I asked for a better leash to tie my dog up at the tub and was given a plastic cover leash, which eventually became loose like I knew it would. There was a lady I assume a groomer taking care of a dog in the next tub over and then another person, a walk in came in and so did a lady dropping off her dogs for grooming as well as a third person with a puppy. The first lady had two dogs that were aggressive towards other dogs and they decided to put these dogs in the kennels that was in the washroom. The groomer took the dog she was washing out of the tub to dry so that the walk in could use the tub because I had just finished but she didn't have time to clean the tub I had just used and I assume her tub was cleaner. I wanted to dry my dog out but was unable to because of the limited space and because the two aggressive dogs were barking in the kennel and freaking my dog out. It took hard work to get my dog not be scared of being groomed so a small space, dogs barking, dryer going off and people trying to maneuver their dog into the tub was a disaster, and the poor puppy was shaking with fear too I felt so horrible for him (not mine another in a kennel). I don't think its right to offer self wash and have grooming appointments at the same time when there is not enough space. I then bought treats to try to add a positive experience for my dog and the cashier didn't know how to remove tax. My dog thankfully did do great, seriously I get him to jump into the tub, but I just won't ever go here again. Grooming your pet shouldn't be a hassle nor should it be frightening and this place seems to evoke just that. read more
