The main reasons we continue to go are customer service and selection. The staff is always willing to help, and they are knowledgeable about the products they sell. Even the folks behind the register do their best to ensure your shopping trip goes well. The selection is huge for a store of this size. Whether you're looking for a particular vitamin, cage-free eggs, or that special flavor of Kombucha. This location will satisfy your shopping list. Very bad customer service one of the workers left me waiting for her! I asked if she could assist me with a quick question I had. Told me to give her a sec and of course I did as she was stocking a shelf when I approached her but when she was done she walked away from me and did not come back to where I was waiting for her I figured maybe she just went to the front of the store get something but she literally left me there and did not come back! I don't regularly shop here because it is a little pricy and I still like to be naughty and eat processed food but this store is my favorite for when we just need 1-2 quick things since it is near our house. Like I said it is on the pricey side but it's a natural grocery store so it is to be expected. There are tons of cool things to check out and look at. I always enjoy the various frozen food items the store has. Honestly the reason I am giving a 5 star review is because every employee in this store is so friendly, gives great suggestions and is willing to answer any questions. The service alone is 5 star. I went into this store for the first time, and it's a very relaxing atmosphere! The prices aren't bad for an organic foods store! I love that they carry all sorts of jerky. I'll admit, I have a bit of a penchant for "natural food stores" with unique stuff that you just can't find elsewhere--think weird flavors of hummus, strange chocolate bars, tortilla chips somehow made out of beans, ... that sort of thing. Now, I would probably put such places (including Natural Grocers) in the category of being a bit too expensive for standard grocery shopping (especially if you have a big "list"), but that doesn't mean they're not worth checking out. If you're more in just grocery-browsing mode and looking for things that catch your eye, you'll probably find enough items on sale to make it worth the trip. I've stopped in to this location about 5 times and have picked up things like chocolate truffles made with coconut oil, unique salsas & pasta sauces, and veggie burgers (of which there were about 20 varieties to choose from). Another thing that's nice is what you *won't* find here. According to their website they don't sell products with artificial colors/flavors/sweeteners, partially hydrogenated oils, or MSG. I tend to check ingredient labels pretty closely for ingredients anyway, so it's nice to know that they have a policy of not stocking items with these. The downside would be that like many other "natural" type stores, this place has a LOT of supplements & vitamins. Probably 1/4 of the aisles are just supplements & homeopathic stuff, which is not my thing, but I guess this is to be expected since the full company name is "Vitamin Cottage Natural Food Markets." Lastly I have to say that I'm glad that something took over the old Fresh & Easy space (and really quickly at that). Phoenix, sadly, has far too many deserted buildings & empty lots (many that have been that way for years & years), so it's always nice to see another business move in after one leaves. read more

Very misleading commercials. All commercials claim that they only sell pasture-raised chicken. This is a flat-out lie. There is no pasture-raised chicken at the Natural Grocers. They only have free range chicken which is a different bird all together. Why lie in your advertisement just tell the truth and claim you only have free range chicken. Those of us who are trying to avoid corn and soy fed livestock should not be deceived in our search for natural healthy foods. read more

I have mixed feelings about this grocery store. The store has something for everyone: carnivores, vegetarians, pescatarians, vegans, gluten free, rawists, etc. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the raw salad dressing that I adore that until this point I could only find at Whole Foods. Everything that is gluten free is labeled which takes the guess work out. What this store is missing is a "store brand" option that everyone can afford. Sprouts has their brand and Whole Foods has the 365 brand which is slightly cheaper. I shop at Sprouts weekly and tend to buy the same items. Natural Grocers carries a lot of the items, but the price is a dollar or so more. The Amy's frozen, gluten free, vegetarian entrees are my favorite. Sprouts carries them for $3.99 regular price while Natural Grocers sells them for $4.99. Why is that? The store is not in an affluent area and while they are probably looking to attract a higher end clientele the neighborhood does not warrant prices that high. The bulk section has everything already packaged for you which eliminates the need for a plastic bag and writing the item number on the tag. It's convenient, but sometimes the recipe only calls for a pinch of this or a dash of that and now I'm stuck with an entire baggie full of a spice that I'll probably never use again. Also, the dried cranberries had sugar added. HUH?? Dried fruit is sweet all on it's own. The vitamin/supplement selection was very large while the produce selection was very small. They have free classes weekly on a variety of topics. I will continue to do my weekly grocery shopping at Sprouts while occasionally running over to Trader Joe's. I'll probably visit Natural Grocers as often as I visited Fresh & Easy, every once in a while. P.S. Bring your own grocery bag or use the boxes they provide. read more

We were visiting from Los Angeles and stopped off here to pick up some groceries. Overall, it was a excellent experience. Lots of parking, great selection of organic and natural foods, and good prices. Best of all was the staff. Everyone we spoke with was extremely friendly. Our cashier was so enthusiastic about all the good this store was doing. There's nothing like seeing employees who are passionate about their jobs. If you're a smart shopper and take advantage of all the great deals their rewards program offers, your money can go far. I am a deal shopper and I just saved more than I spent. The natural makeup/skincare/health supplement section is big. Staff is always super friendly and helpful. Should have gotten the lady's name who has pointed me in the right direction on both my visits - once at the register and today on the floor while she was stocking. I just moved out to Phoenix from SoCal where health food stores are commonplace. I'm thrilled to find a spot with brands I recognize - and some new ones too. This is a smaller location for this chain but this is also my favorite location. I don't really come here for produce or groceries, mostly health care products and my on-the-go snacks. But you can't go wrong with a health food store that refrigerates it's probiotics and offers a book nook of healthy living titles. Very friendly staff here, even more so than other stores I've been to. I find it odd there's a security guard since it's not exactly a rough neighborhood, but I figure better safe than sorry so I'm not going to question it. read more

Just bought some groceries at Natural Grocers in Phoenix on Indian School for the first time. WOW what a ripoff the produce was organic but the prices were astronomical. I purchased a plastic container of Del Cabo Persian cucumbers when I opened the contain at home they were slimy, not something I would eat. This is my top one favorite grocery store. Look for bulk and natural grocers brand and you will pay the most affordable price for organic product. I love their classes, events and free sample gift every month or so. I got on a juicing binge and bought a juicer and since this was in the neighborhood thought perfect. They have the best produce it is natural and fresh. The only drawback is that because it is all natural and fresh you never know what they will have. Often they don't have pineapple or mangoes or something but the produce is good. It's a bit expensive but not terrible. I've shopped the rest of the store for groceries and it's a NO nothing to offer. I'm not sure what is throughout the rest of the store nothing I am interested in and super pricey. Stick to produce! read more

Natural Grocers rapidly became my favorite grocer. In many cases their products are more than half off those of the other Organic purveyors such as Sprouts and Whole Foods. They have a fabulous selection of nondairy yogurts and barista creams. Their nondairy cultured cheese selection is far superior to that of any of the other local health focused Grocers. As well, heir supplement selection is excellent. Their employees are very helpful and amiable. read more

I love this grocery store. It's like Whole Foods and Trader Joes had a baby... Who ended up with the best of each parent. It's on the smaller side like Trader Joes, so you don't get overwhelmed by a warehouse style grocery store... Yet it offers 100% organic produce and a huge variety of whole foods style products, but at a better price than Whole foods (thank god). The employees are super friendly and know a lot about the stuff they sell. The organic fruit was very fresh and reasonably priced. If you are a Whole Foods/Trader Joes/Sprouts lover, you'll love Natural Grocers. Oh but don't forget to bring your own reusable bags, because they don't have bags (which is awesome). Today was the first time I ever shopped at a Natural Grocer's store. My wife and I are new vegans, so we wanted to check it out. This store had soooo much variety and it's so close to home! We wanted to find "cheese" and found a substitute and when we went to check out, the cashier actually asked us if we were vegan or vegetarian because the cheese had dairy products in it. I thought that was super nice of her to ask and pay that much attention and actually care! I will definitely be going back and will probably make Natural Grocers my main grocery store. read more

This is nice little store I love to come and purchase dried fruits here they have a nice selection. I usually don't write reviews but I just wanted to make a comment about how nice the little store is and how even though it's in a tough neighborhood they have the sweetest young security man working there on the weekend. I've seen him walk a blind customer across the street. Go in and buy dog food for a homeless mans dog. He helps me carry my bags to the car if it's late just a wonderful addition to the store and the neighborhood we need more little stores with nice employees around here. read more

I really want to love this store! It is great to have an organic store in the neighborhood and they have everything I love. Prior to finding this store, to get all the items I wanted I needed to go to sprouts, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, so I was happy to have this store close to home. Yesterday, I was buying strawberries and the cashier kindly alerted me to the fact that a pound of strawberries cost $14.99!! There was no price in the produce section. I was told that this was because strawberries were out of season and these were organic. Yeah.... no strawberries are worth $14.99 and I have NEVER paid this price for organic berries in winter! I want to support this store, but this really left a bad feeling!! read more

Used to be Fresh and Easy, was sad when they left as they were close, small and convenient to get in and out of quickly. Well Natural Grocers has suprassed that except with lots more healthier options! Yes the prices are higher for many things but they do have some great choices as I typically have to venture across town to get elsewhere, so there is a lot to be said for the convenience factor, and the fact that its easy to get around in, not packed and crowded. Half the store is food and the other half is vitamins and supplements galore, with the center for of bath, makeup, etc beauty products, along with a place to fill your water. They do have classes and we went on one sat and they had lots of free samples out, felt like I was in Costco! I think it was a special event, but such great things we were able to try. You also earn points on your purchases that you can redeem if you sign up for $5 off or various discounts on foods or products. We dont have much of this of store downtown so it was greatly needed. read more
