Seems like many management turnover for the better because I find all of the staff to be extremely pleasant, and knowledgeable. We shop here a lot as we have a baby and buy all organic. They're so friendly, helpful, and patient. Also almost always have every item I need! Sometimes produce isn't stocked, but they always can explain why (production & supply chain issue etc) and can tell me when to expect it back. We go here daily, and literally there is never a line at checkout. If there is they immediately call for back up. Never going back to Safeway again lol read more

Many of the items I've bought from here have been spoiled or moldy. Most recently, I bought one of their premade Rudi's sandwiches, took it home, and ate more than half only to discover that it was a WEEK past expiration. After I saw the date, I went back and looked at the remaining sandwich and discovered the cheese and lettuce were definitely bad. I called the store to let them know that I just ate the spoiled food they sold me, and the woman on the phone just said "oh my bad. It's a separate vendor who replaces the sandwiches" without offering me my money back. I called corporate to request a refund, but they sent me to voicemail twice. I left a voicemail over a week ago and still haven't heard back. I'm extremely disappointed in their lack of customer service. Their prices are way too high for them to be acting like this. I was in dire need of some next level salad greens after eating Wendy's kid meals two days straight because their app keeps sending me free food. Free to my wallet, costly to my health. I usually hit up Whole Foods but I was around Berkeley neighbored so got in right before they closed at 8pm. Side story: I fed my Ameircan bulldog McDoubles almost everyday during the summer of 2018 because McDonald's gave away free McDouble every time Rockies hit a double. 6 months later he had cancer and passed away at age 13. Moral of the story fast food could cause cancer... Vitamin Cottage Natural Grocers manifesto entitled "What We Won't Sell and Why", which includes artificial colors and flavors, artificial preservatives, irradiated food and meat raised using artificial hormones and antibiotics, among others. I love their mission and they started in Lakewood, CO! How did I not know about them? After living under a rock in Colorado for 20 plus years. People complain about the high price, but it's no worse than Whole Foods. Blueberries were $2.29 and Organic Girl super greens $3.99 Dave's killer bread $5.19 and the most valuable resource on earth H2O was only $.25 per gallon beating most competitors. This Berkley location has easy parking, it's not the largest store but had plenty of selection. If you need to shop for a family of 5 go to Costco. But if you are a single hipster PhD student living like your in Berkeley, CA come here. read more

A great place in the Berkeley neighborhood to shop for organic produce. Its a small place so very easy to get around but still has everything I need. The staff are friendly and personally I love checking out with the staff rather than kiosks like other places. They will call in the other staff to help out if the lines get too long. read more

I really love their produce section. I find it to be cheap and fresh. This is where I prefer to buy most of my vegetables and fruits. I am constantly impressed at their selection and the freshness and quality of their veggies and fruit section. The only con I'd say is that their rewards program doesn't have many kickbacks. I wonder why they make me input my phone number every time. It seems like it's mostly for their data which makes me feel annoyed. I also don't like how I have to bag my own groceries. If I forget my bags I have to use a box which really sucks. But I applaud their recycling! read more

Apparently this particular store has a customer service problem. Many complaints about the service here on Yelp. Rudeness seems to be the main complaint. Well here is another one. I was shopping at this store on Saturday 3/6/2021. Mind you I have been shopping at Natural Grocers for 42 YEARS. When I approached the counter the checker barked out at me "Pull your mask up over your nose". I said no I will not I have a medical condition and will not obey you. She informed me that if I did not pull the mask over my nose that she would not give me service. Her attitude was very rude and I felt like a criminal. She has medium length blond hair and I was there at 3pm. So if you have a medical condition they don't want you shopping there. Go to Sprouts that is 3 blocks away. Bob read more

We are on here for a ski trip and decided to stop in for a couple of protein bars. We leave our car for literally 2 minutes while a couple of friends go to play some Pokémon in the parking lot. We left the car for literally 2 minutes and as we were walking into the store we noticed our car gone. Apparently the tow company Agapi Recovery watches the lot and if you don't immediately sprint to the front door, the guy tows your car. People have taken their dogs for a walk while waiting for the stores to open and have been towed. After getting our car back we watched as he pulled into the lot with black out windows and watches the lot. He literally took his tow truck and sped (probably illegal speeds in a parking lot) to a car and found the guy still in there so he had to speed back to his spot. We're contacting the NBC news in the local area about this predatory Towing practices. DO NOT shop here. High chance of being towed. Edit: I forgot to mention, while the tow company is at fault for predatory practices. While talking to the manager inside the store, they said it was part of their contract that if you don't "Immediately walk to the front door" you'll get instantly towed. Read several other reviews here about their predatory tow truck company. Yeah my car got towed. It was like 10:30 at night and obviously the store was closed. Really? A neighborhood store like this treats its customers like that? I spend a couple grand per year here and my daughter spends way more than that. The tow company has terrible reviews. 300 bucks it cost me. They don't even have a website or information on where their lot is... that I could find. They finally called me back. FYI for anybody else that get's towed by AGAPI Recovery.. they are at 1803 W Irvington Pl. It is just a shit hole fenced area between two buildings.. no office. It's the Grand Opening. Thousands (actually 5, not thousands) of people queued up to get in while standing in 20cm of snow. The crowd waits with bated breath to buy sumptuous "organic" food. Will the vitamin-juiced clerks survive the onslaught of desparate humanity? I just don't get the attraction of Vitamin Cottage. No fresh meat. Expensive grocery store with a smaller selection of items than most competitors. Definitely not a one stop shop. They have a parking lot, which is a plus. They occasionally have items on sale for a good price. What really got me though is the customer service at this location--terrible. If you want to shop at Natural Grocers and get a friendly experience, definitely avoid this location and go to the one in RiNo instead. Or, just go to the Sprouts right across the street. I had the grumpiest, least helpful cashier here. They have a coupon program you can sign up for with your phone number, and you can go online and select from a few coupons to load to your account. I had a coupon loaded to my account that should have applied to my purchase, but for some reason it did not. When I mentioned this to the cashier, she didn't care and didn't offer any help. I asked her if I could try entering my number again to see if the coupon would work, and she acted like this small request was pulling teeth. She did it though, and it didn't go through again. Once again, she was no help and didn't call over management. I started fumbling on my phone to pull up my account to prove that I had the stupid coupon loaded. While this was all going on, another customer got in line behind me and asked if I had a coupon issue. Apparently she had the same issue of her coupons mysteriously not working in the store, also with no help from the Natural Grocers employees. With the line growing, I finally gave up, told her to remove the coupon items from my transaction and walked out only buying one thing. Honestly a great, boujee spot for this transformative neighborhood. It's a good spot for the wealthy but don't come here on a Safeway budget. This spot is PRICEY! Very high quality produce and natural body products here though. I really appreciate their essential oil and herbal medicine sections. 4 stars for the fact that this place is disrespectful to the struggling elderly and immigrant population here by not offering equal access or affordability in a food desert of NW Denver. They also don't have a fresh deli section which is what every grocer needs. It's more a 4 stars for the store concept and brand than the actual individual business and store location. read more

I can see how Natural Grocers would be very popular for people who are heavily in to nothing but organic foods (I do try to find humanely raised meats but don't exclusively buy organic) and all matter of vitamins remedies, and dietary supplements (literally rows and rows and rows of every supplement powder, pill etc. imaginable). I'm not being critical of people who are, it's just not my thing. My rating is based on availability and price of meats, produce, bread etc. No deli or bakery and very little in the way of meat, which is very expensive (so expensive it makes Whole Foods look cheap). For what Natural Grocers stocks and markets I'm sure it has a great offering, but with no meat/cheese department and no bakery I see no reason so shop here. They do accept Apple Pay though, and have a great parking lot - kudos for that! read more

I've been put on an incredibly strict regimen by my esthetician over the past 4 months, and that includes needing to avoid lots of ingredients commonly found in most foods. We're talking no dairy, soy, sodium/salt (sea salt is okay), certain nuts, fishes, egg yolks, corn oil, vegetable oil, canola oil and the list goes on. I've had to get very creative with meals and thankfully Natural Grocers provides plentiful options I cannot find at other grocery stores. There is a large classroom area on the east side of the store and although I have not yet attended a class, the offerings sound quite interesting. The staff at the store are very helpful. Disgusted at how this place operates. Parked my car here so I could run into get a necessity item. I had to wait 10 minutes for them to open so my husband and took our dog out to use the restroom. When we can back 15 minutes later, our car was towed. While this review has nothing to do with the grocery store, their practices are disturbing as this is the parking lot for their store. While my husband waited there with our dog while I got the car, another car had been towed within a 15 minute time period. The guy told me they watch on cameras and if you walk of the parking lot, they tow your car immediately. Disgusting Natural Grocers for allowing this to happen. read more

Ok- Natural Grocers is a decent market generally but this location is awfully run. There is consistently the same 1 woman working the register and NO ONE else. Every time I have been into this location there is a huge line that forms around the aisles and it feels like none of their employees even notice OR care that the line takes 20+ minutes. Also, everyone that works here is not friendly- I have never seen a smile or a "thank you" or a "have a good day" even when I offer up those comments upfront. Actually, I take that back, the gentlemen that is in the front sanitizing the carts/baskets is always friendly but NO ONE else is. How can they compete with Whole Foods and Sprouts when they have poor customer service, awful lines, limited supplies and insanely high prices for the same products? Some folks complain that Vitamin Cottage doesn't have the array of meat they are looking for. Or the prices are high. Well those folks are missing the point. The store is full of healthy products, from soap to produce to vitamins galore. The comparison I see people make would be like a vegan going into a butcher shop and complaining about the lack of vegetables. Natural Grocers is awesome. The staff is helpful and friendly. After checking out, clerk told me the coupon was only valid at the store named on the address which wasn't even close to my neighborhood. They have a truck parked in the lot ready to remove a car within 1-3 minutes of parking; even with proof of receipt they ignored it and charged me $300 to get my car back. Manager of the store didn't even acknowledge the truck that was clearly waiting in the lot at the time. I shop here almost daily and they've got everything I need. Great layout and it's an efficient store to walk thru without having to wade thru tons of junk food aisles. I think it's best if you shop with a grocery list off your weekly menu plans. I do wish there were a few items (like bulk parmesan cheese) that they'd manage to carry on a more regular basis, but they do take special orders and you can buy items in bulk by the flat. The staff in produce is esp helpful and can help you find just the right apple (with a taste test to judge it). read more

The staff at this Natural Grocers really need some anti-surliness training. The morale here must be low because I've had a clerk who whined about there not being enough customers, and another who glared at me because I was buying too much food (and making her work, I guess). No smiles, no offers of help, nada. The least friendly of all of the Natural Grocers I've been to (and I've been to many). Maybe these guys took the job because they thought they were working in a trendy area; well, kids, I lived here before it was full of stoned and cranky hipsters. So if you want people to come back, you might act friendlier than Whole Foods, especially given your overpriced, limited selection. read more
