As is the case with most SMALL airports you do not get to pick your own car at this location and you are required to go to the rental counter. Fortunately there was no line and the counter is across from baggage claim. I had my car keys BEFORE my luggage came out. Did not get a free upgrade on the vehicle but it was a new car with only 300 miles. No shuttle needed here, cars are located in a parking lot just to the right of the airport. It is a real challenge tying to reach the rental counter at the FCA (Kalispel) airport. When you call you get the standard messages about them being sorry for the wait - only to learn that this apology only lasts 3 minutes and 30 seconds when you are disconnected and have to call back to start it all over again. While waiting at my departing airport I had some time to kill and wanted to let the National folks know that we are delayed with our inbound flight. Well, I gave up after 27 call attempts. I have had luck with National in the past. However this experience leaves a lot to be improved upon. I wonder if the CEO of National's parent company ever experiences these types of things? Doubtful as I'm sure if they did, policy's and procedures would change. read more

Rented here several times (8 different weeks). I never got a car in the class I had reserved, never got an upgrade, never had a clean car, never got one with Montana plates. The employees at the counter don't really seem to care what you reserved or why, and if the car I wanted was sitting in their parking lot, I was never allowed s to rent it somehow it was always spoken for. I guess they hold cars for other people, just not me? read more

So happy with the customer service here. At drop off, I accidentally left my phone in the car and proceeded to drop the keys in the after-hours key box, only to realize my mistake once I was in the airport. I contacted customer support, who sent a message to the Kalispell staff, who promptly contacted us before even opening for the day to let me know they found my phone and to get an address to ship to. My phone made it all the way to Pennsylvania in two business days without any extra fees. Truly unheard of. I've never booked with National Car Rental before (this was reserved on a business account) but I may be a convert now! read more

Its a horrible experience after talking to Stephanie from the front desk on 8Aug16. This place and staff doesn't deserve any star at all! Also, please dress up professional, wearing off white t-shirt makes you look like you are working at Walmart and worst! Next time dont LIE to your customer standard and intermediate car is the same. There is definitely a difference between the two and for Stephanie to continue to argue with a customer is so unprofessional. Besides, there are so many cars parked in the lot and your telling an executive member that you dont have any stardard car and only intermediate car which is elantra hyundia!! Literally the worst emerald club experience I have had x 3. Didn't write a review after their first two experiences, but the third time is the charm. Same faces, same rude responses and ultimately same failure to deliver the product they promise and I expect when I rent a car. I do have a choice, the requests are relatively simple and the customer service remains non existent. Today I arrived a 1:30...same time every time I've flown in here. They said they had my car reserved for 4:00 and I would have to wait. I don't make the reservation, my company does and they may have made a mistake. But I shouldn't have to wait 2.5 hours for a car and I said I couldn't ( and I shouldn't have to) so instead they gave me (as a punishment) a Toyota Camry in Kalispell in the winter. NoAWD, no remote start. Mind you , rent close to a 100 days a year and this is the only place that doesn't seem to get it. read more

I just received a bill from National - THREE months after I rented a vehicle for four days in Kalispell Montana. The bill was for $983.90 for a LESS THAN 1/2" chip in the windshield. I was not notified of this nor was I contacted to discuss this "CLAIM" and how it was to be handled. They included an invoice from Safelite auto glass for $874.90 - when I obtained a quote for cash from Safelite - it was for $310.00. National then added their own "fees" to this as well. Everything about this screams scam and rip-off. There was no pre-inspection or post-inspection performed with me by the employees. When you rent a vehicle you are told to report everything larger than a quarter. This chip (not a star) was less than 1/2" in length, and it was not in the driver's line of sight. National took it upon themselves to replace the entire windshield, and send a ridiculous bill. Do not rent from this company! I rent cars at least 6 times a year and this is a first!!! read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PEOPLE!! I have been using National everywhere I travel and am accustomed to their great level of service and quality cars.... here was the only exception. Forgive the rambling tale but - it doesn't even to begin the bad taste these people and specific National left in my mouth. I went to Glacier National Park and my experience with these specific national people - namely Wanda - was ABYSMAL. Car 1. We drove from the airport out to St. Mary's (a 3 hour climb through the mountains) - wake up the next morning and the car won't start! We call in and the first question out of Wanda's mouth was 'Did yah leave a light on?' - so after some argument and obvious lack of all customer service training they sent a tow out that brought us another car... THAT WOULDNT START THE NEXT MORNING! (they had the audacity to suggest I would pay for this towing) - we finally get the car to start and since we were going to West Glacier that day we drove from there directly to the airport to drop the car off... the first question out of this unhappy frankly rude Wanda's mouth was 'you obviously weren't starting the car right'. Flabbergasted and without apology of recognition of what they put us through - they give us a a new car (car 3) that's front window is completely cracked - they had no idea - as it had become apparent they don't check these cars before loaning them out. We get a brand new rav 4 (car 4!)- without an apology or any sort of resolution for the terrible experience - and as we are driving back to the motel the check air in the tire light comes on. The tire is flat by the next day! I called my AAA company and had the tire changed to the donut - we literally drove from the airport to the motel and THANK GOD we had cell service - what if we were stranded in the mountains!??! We bring the car back to National and the woman at the front dest (like Wanda) was miserable, not a good morning, not a 'i'm sorry our awful customer service and lack of due diligence is the reason your trip has been so difficult' no she glared us down and abruptly took our keys and sent us on our way Bottom line. You, National - are lucky one of these cars didn't break down in the middle of no where!!! it was a blizzard in st mary and we could of had real problems out there! - I mean after car two we should of went on our way but I'm a regular with National get all the perks and have NEVER experienced such a lack of customer service. I am writing a letter to the president of the company as they do a ton of business with my corporation and am going to make sure NO ONE has an experience like this again. SHAME ON YOU PEOPLE! National! Get on these people! They are giving a bad name to a great company and made our trip to Glacier MISERABLE! read more

So we had a full size car rental booked. Then I saw if we sign up, for free, to the Emerald Club and then we could book a midsize but take ANY car from up to a premium. So we needed the car for 10 days so this would save us some money. So I cancelled the full size and booked a midsize. So come to find out this location has no Emerald Aisle. Do they tell you that when you sign up? Noooo. So now we were stuck with this midsize. Will not use them again. read more

Absolutely the worst car rental experience I have ever had. From start to finish, the staff made sure that every little thing was as inconvenient as possible for us. I was rear-ended and my car was totaled, so my family needed a car until we figured out what we were going to do about a new car. We called ahead to make sure that everything would be a smooth check-in. The staff told us that our insurance would cover everything and that we did not need a credit card. When we got there, I dropped my dad off, assuming that he could just check in and drive away as we were told he would. The very rude attendant, Zera, insisted that he did need a major credit card. Dad had to call me to return so that I could provide the card. He came outside to meet me and get the card. When he returned, Zera had "gone outside to shuffle around cars" and we waited for twenty minutes in a completely empty, not busy airport, for her to return. He asked her why she left and she flatly repeated "I thought you left," even though everything had been discussed in her presence. Finally, we got the car and we able to drive away. The next day, Dad was driving into town and got a flat tire in the car. He put the donut on the car and called National the next day about the tire. The manager, Steph, explained that reprocessing his information and getting a new rental car would cost fees and that it would save us money if we just took the tire and got it repaired outself. ARE THEY SERIOUS?!?!?!?!?! Dad did take the tire in and they said it was not repairable. The entire staff was completely useless and the whole experience has been a disaster. We are taking the car back tomorrow, hopefully this story doesnt get worse!!! read more
