I exclusively rent with Alamo every time I travel because their service is better than everyone else. Kalispell was no exception. Admittedly, I'm used to large airports where you cruise past the desk, choose a car and go, but this is a smaller place obviously and they probably don't have the inventory to run like that. So yes, there was a bit of a line at the counter but the employees were so pleasant and the line moved quickly. The car they provided was amazing. really really nice. the return process involved checking in with someone at a kiosk outside. A couple in front of us were taking forever arguing about something so it held up the line. If they had two employees checking cars in it would probably be better. read more

I flew into kalispell airport and upon arrival they tell me that I canceled my reservation for a vehicle rental, which was not true. I had a rental pickup in kalispell and drop off in Missoula, I 100% did not cancel my reservation, they had no more cars and told me I was out of luck. I had to rent through another company on same day which costed way more, and since I couldn't choose a different drop off location without it costing over 1000$. I had to drive 2 hours to missoula, rent a car in Missoula, have my brother drive the other car, then return the rental in kalispell, then drive back 2 hours to Missoula to catch the flight in Missoula. Thanks a lot Alamo, never ever renting from you or recommending you ever. read more

Had a rental set up back in August and getting around to this review. After getting off my plane, I was stuck in a 40 minute line that had me 30 minutes late for the reservation I had set many months prior. This was because only one person was working the desk and was clearly overworked. I get to the front finally, and I'm told it'll be about an hour. They're currently cleaning the cars. I'm okay with that answer, but notice everyone in front of me is sitting down and lingering around the area about 30 people deep. Nobody else I've seen has actually received their keys yet. It ended up taking about 4 hours to finally get the car from the planned reservation time. I was offered $100 off the bill, which was appreciated, but didn't change they completely torpedoed my plans for the first day. I didn't have anything too important going on, but I'd bet one of the group waiting with me had pertinent situations they needed to get moving on. The people that cleaned the cars clocked out for the day at 4, so the front desk person disappeared for an hour to get the cars cleaned for us. Ridiculous situation, but some A+ banter among us that were waiting as we watched the other rental companies easily go through the people the people that went to them. The car itself was in great condition, and 2 thumbs up to the staff working that Alamo put in a no win situation and completely screwed over since they pretty much spend their whole shift with disgruntled customers that are justified in their anger. I've rented cars over 100 times and I think is the worst experience I've ever had. Talking to a guy that says he's visited Kalispell for business the last 3 years, Alamo is always like this here and his company only does business with Alamo so he's come to expect it and can't avoid the situation. Alamo, hire more people, pay them better, and quit being 4 hours late at setting up a car for a reservation. After my trip which I managed to salvage after, I was given a text survey. Breann helped us twice, and each time she was exemplary. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon from Tampa. She upgraded us from a Fusion to an Outlander. This was perfect since we needed a bigger car when our friends arrived Friday. That's when Breann helped us again. She added one of our friends as the second driver after they collected their luggage. We had to wait in a long line this time (no line on Sunday since we got the car before the luggage). But Breann's smile, efficiency, & warm personality dispelled any frustration we felt. The counter is right in front of you as you exit the security area from deplaning. Got your car agreement & keys before you get your luggage to minimize the wait in line. The cars are outside the doors near luggage, past Hertz. They are marked well, and after you verify the car has no damage (if it does, return to the counter), you just get in and drive away. Easiest car rental in a long time! read more

Due to circumstances way out of our control ( our flight was cancelled ) Alamo decided the best plan of action to help us out in a a bad situation was to charge us an arm and a leg for the unexpected delay caused by labor shortages- COVID related It's a bummer that they weren't understanding about the situation and did nothing to help out their customers in need Labor shortage caused by this COVID pandemic certainly shouldn't be passed on to the customer seeing as flights are getting rescheduled and delayed across the spectrum Plenty of rental car companies, not picking them for our future trips Beware of choosing Alamo as they will simply capitalize of of your misfortune read more

If I could give a 0 I would. From the initial car not having a side view mirror and a low tire warning light to the next one having a key fob that won't lock the doors and went completely dead day two! Their response was for me to Uber and get a new battery for it! After using the emergency key to even unsolicited the door and then replacing the battery the battery dies overnight. There was just enough to get it started and return to the airport. I was then told by Brianne I didn't know how to use a key fob, I would have to take a car in a different category or I'd have to wait an hour. I had rented a compact! Then she couldn't reimburse me for the cost of the batteries and her manager would call me. Needless to say "no call". Please save yourself a real possible headache and rent from ANYONE but them! Update: after much lip service I have still NOT been contacted by anyone who can reimburse me for my out of pocket expenses to make THEIR RENTAL CAR FUNCTION! read more

Update since Alamo responded: I am changing my rating to 3 stars from 1 star since Alamo responded to my review promptly and sought more information. They affirmed that they would look into FCA airport Alamo's operations to see how best they can fix the underlying issue. They also offered a partial refund to alleviate the harrowing experience we had to go through. I hope they show similar promptness during an active reservation too. Overall, thanks Alamo for making an attempt to fix operations. Original experience- We had a bad experience with Alamo. The car given to us (Nissan Rogue) was never checked properly. It had low tire pressure and was in UNSAFE condition. The following day, the car broke down completely as it was clearly a FLAT TIRE. I tried calling up Alamo and there was NO ONE attending the call at the airport. Apparently no one is available even for EMERGENCY CASES. I had to cancel my plans for the day since the car was unsafe. FInally, I was able to get in touch with Alamo, and they asked me to contact their road side assistance- AAA , a third party provider. AAA is probably the WORST experience in our total view. After trying for about 4-5 HOURS (yes you read that right), we finally were able to talk to an operator. How the fu** is this supposed to be emergency road side assistance? Then, to add to that, the operator was super rude and said I HAD to pay for the road side assistance despite me telling her that Alamo gave us a broken car to begin with. She then abruptly cut our call - talk about customer service. Made us feel like worthless. Again, we attempted to call road side assistance since we had no other option- our trip was planned for the next 8 days. Finally we were sent an assistance - a tow truck who advised us to get to the nearest Tire shop since he felt that the tire looked real bad. We went to Tire-A-Rama and they were literally surprised that Alamo even rent out the vehicle. Both front tires were COMPLETELY worn out and they said the CAR was very UNSAFE to be driven. I think this is enoug grounds to thrash Alamo for their reckless behavior and even establishes grounds for approaching from a legal standpoint. Tire-A-RAMA said we should get the tires replaced and tried to contact Alamo, yet again for a confirmation. No one, like no fu****** guy responds for Alamo. After waiting for 2-3 hours, Tire-A-Rama decides to replace them anyway since we were already screwed in our trip and dint want to delay us further. So this was my experience with Alamo. read more

On 9/14 we rented our reserved car from Alamo. The agent said that the car had a crack on the windshield. He said it was the only car they had and, of course, they wouldn't charge us for the crack. Alamo then charged us $250. for the crack. After contacting Alamo, the claims department wrote us an email stating that we were not responsible for the cost. Despite numerous phone calls to Alamo, NO ONE WILL REFUND OUR MONEY. Each customer service agent states that they have no ability to refund money. They will not provide the Kalispell Airport's Alamo number nor will they give me the number of someone who is in charge of refunds. The last customer service agent actually told me that no one in the refund department has a phone. This situation is ludicrous. I have wasted far too much time on this issue. read more

If is was possible to give less than (1) star I would have done it. Absolutely the worse car rental and customer service I have ever experienced. I stood in line for an hour and half, only to be told because my flight was early I could not pick up the car I had already paid for. Then to speak to the piss poor level of customer service there was no ...let me see what I can do for you, the response was, you will need to come back in a couple of hours get back in line and we "may" have your car. Really hang out in the airport for a couple of hours! Then when I asked about a cancellation and refund, that was met with ...no sir because you made this reservation thru a 3rd party "Travelocity" they will have to issue a refund..."by the way, beware of Travelocity and everything that falls under their umbrella", their level of customer service leaves a lot to be desired of, really bad experience with both. Funny when they know you had a bad experience that don't send you a survey...coincidence, I don't think so. The hook with Alamo is they are cheaper than most of the others , but if you can afford it I would suggest using someone else that has at least a minimal regard for the customer. read more

I'd like to thank Tanner and commend him on his outstanding customer service. Unfortunately, I hit a deer (it was at low speed and the deer was OK, however, the vehicle did not fare as well) and the first question he asked when I called was, "Are you OK?" which is always appreciated. Once I arrived back at the rental counter he was extremely helpful in setting me up with a new vehicle as well as explaining what I should expect in regards to settling the claim. It's a very unpleasant experience getting in an accident and being out of town in a rental car only exacerbates the unpleasantness. However, Tanner's 5-star customer service and knowledge was calming and really flipped the entire situation into a much more positive light. We arrived at FCA after a late evening flight and the gentlemen at the Alamo counter was very friendly. We were on a one-way rental eventually to Utah and we're offered the minivan we reserved or an Armada SUV that Alamo I guess wanted to send south as this was offered for the same price. Would have loved the big SUV but we planned on driving a lot of miles visiting the national parks along the way, so declined because of the gas mileage difference. The first minivan provided was a Chrysler Voyager. As we drove off, we realized immediately the headlight aim was horribly off. Returned to the counter and were offered a different Voyager which was completely fine and served us well for the trip. For the price we paid, through the Costco discount, we thought overall our Alamo rental was a good value. Would only wish Alamo's employees would do a better job checking over the vehicles before renting them out. With the darkness and rural roads of Montana with lots of wildlife, being able to see is important. Am pleased that we were able to switch vehicles quickly at least, so kudos to the gentleman at the counter that evening. read more

I had the ABSOLUTE BEST experience possible at this Alamo rental center. Wanda was so accommodating and helpful, providing me with the best customer service I have ever received. One of the people I was traveling with had a medical emergency in the rental car return parking lot and after explaining the situation, Wanda was able to extend our reservation with insurance. She was so helpful and assisted in providing us with a timely and affordable solution. I am an Alamo customer for life now, thank you Wanda!!!!! read more

I will never rent another car from Alamo again. I rented a car from them Mother's Day weekend. Driving conditions were clear all weekend and the weather was great! I returned the car on Sunday in perfect condition on a full tank of gas. About a week later I get a phone call from an insurance adjuster stating that a rock had hit the windshield and the entire windshield had to be replaced. When I asked for pictures to be provided, they could not provide anything. This is a bogus claim because there wasn't anything wrong with the car. Aside from that, nobody came out to inspect the car. read more

We have rented from Alamo before several times at several different locations. We found this location to be the poorest managed Alamo location we have yet experienced. We booked and checked in online days before. There is no advantage to checking in online for this location because you still have to go to the counter and go through the check in process. After checking in at the counter we and our son were both told it would be at least 30 min before there was a full sized car for either of us. Meanwhile our other son had booked at Avis and was in his car in 5 min. We both ended up waiting over an hour for a car. We were never offered an upgrade which has been the norm at every other Alamo location when they were out of cars. When we finally went out into the lot we saw there were many Alamo cars we could have been offered. Be sure to take pictures of any damage because there is no one present in the parking lot when you get your car and also when you return it. They could claim you damaged the car as they have done here with other customers. read more

I made a reservation at Alamo Car Rental at the Kalispell airport. We paid upfront for our selected vehicle - a midsize SUB. But When we arrived at the airport after a long flight, we were told that the wait for our reserved, paid-for vehicle was going to be a 45 minute wait. We were offered an upgrade to a truck but when we went outside we found that the there was extensive damage to the passenger side of the vehicle - I was surprised that they were even renting this vehicle. So now after waiting in line for 1 hour, we continue to wait another 45 minutes for a vehicle that we reserved. Poor customer service! We will never use Alamo again. read more

Received return rather quickly. The rental was in fair condition, it had a lot of scratches and dings, really no options. I would give a higher score but I am lowering it because I was almost caught in a line to get the car. If I would have when to pick up my bags first and then to the counter. It would have taken an hour to get the car. When I returned the vehicle, I had to used the dropped box because again they were under staffed and the line to pick up stretched across the airport which I had to fight through with luggage. Everyone in line seems upset because of the length of the line and it was not moving. Might consider getting rental off site next time. read more

Alamo was the company that I won a bid with through Priceline. I bid $45 per day for the mid size SUV. Hey, it's M O N T A N A! Our flight gets into Kalispell at 11:20pm. I walk up, very friendly guy welcomes us, tells us spot 2. Paperwork is done nd I have the keys in my hand before the baggage claim conveyor turns on. We grab our luggage, walk out into freezing weather and there sits a brand new Ford Explorer. He had already toldme and had me initial a damage slip for some damage on the tailgate but told me to look at it in the daylight and call if we notice anything else. At the end of the week we decided to take the train home and when I called them the day before they told me where to park it, and to call and leave a message (we were leaving very early before they were open) so they would send someone to Whitefish first thing in the morning to pick it up. No muss, no fuss, no extra fees...... Seriously, this local company knows how to get repeat business. Thanks Alamo. read more

In MT now and rented a truck from them. Called twice to extend, both times the agent politely did so and authorized my card, most recently $756 for another week. The next day they towed the vehicle with all my stuff to a different location 25 mi away. Called the manager who claimed the truck was 3 weeks overdue and she'd been trying to call the whole time, but my phone didn't work. Even after looking at the records, confirming my calls to extend/pay, and acknowledging they transposed two digits when entering my phone number, she refused to return the vehicle. Reminding her I'd paid for another week she said my card was just authorized and wouldn't be charged. Checked my account the next day, $756 charge from Alamo. No receipt closing out the rental and detailing the charges when I returned the key. Agent didn't know anything except to give two garbage bags (my stuff) to a guy bringing in a key. Everything seemed to be there, except the rental agreement, go figure. Stay away from Alamo/National. read more
