Ambience and decor is not what I would go there for. Went early April and they still had up Valentine's Day paper decor. We arrive late at night, closer to 9 pm and there were only 1-2 other tables but we could barely hear ourselves over one very loud table. I've been to this restaurant twice now, the first time the service was okay, but the food wasn't exactly what I had hoped. The second time I got it to go and when I walked in to pick up my order, three employees ignored me, including one who was just on his cell phone standing behind the counter. Another employee walked to where I was standing, washed her hands, and then walked away. Finally a fourth employee came out of the back and handed me my food. I've ordered take-out 4 times and dined-in 2 times over the past 2 years mostly for convenience. They are consistently OK and I've never had a bad meal here. Likewise, I've never had a mouthwatering meal either. My son recently enjoyed his Teriyaki Beef, daughter found the beef basil fried rice dry and boring and I found the chicken pad Thai dry and bland but hot with pepper (ordered medium spice). I really like this place between me and my girlfriends schedules we probably order once a week here and go there when we're not in a hurry. Can't honestly say I've tried a better Thai restaurant. Food is very consistent I like alot of the things on the menu but I probably get the pineapple fried rice the most when I feel like just getting something simple, the Thai tea is also the best one I have had yet, every now and then you get one that isn't perfect but never bad, but honestly a great place and as long as I live in the area I will eat here! I've been to this place twice now, and everything has been very good. I would say that the fried rice is not the best, a little dry/not a lot of flavor. I think it could do with more soy or butter in the cooking, but I am not a chef, so... We had a cashew dish with duck and crab fried rice along with our appetizers in the photo, the combination appetizer and the larb (lettuce wraps with chicken). Both appetizers were amazing (we've had them cloth twice now). At first, I thought the duck was overcooked and a little dry, but it may have been just that one bite because the rest was tender and juicier. In addition to my previous comments on the fried rice, there was a lot of crab meat in it. We added some of the brown sauce from the combination appetizer to the rice, and that made it much better. The service here is always super friendly. I don't quite understand the ladies every time they speak, but when asked, they repeat themselves without annoyance or exasperation. They're quick and accommodating, too. We asked for more lettuce for the larb, and they gave us a half a head of lettuce, no charge! I got the iced jasmine tea (it came lightly sweetened and was delicious), and my SO got a singha beer. The tea is not a free refill, I think, but as shown in the picture, the glass is large! The atmosphere is bright, nice, and modern. Others seem to go in dressed up a little more than casual, but both times we went, we were definitely the most casually dressed in the place and were treated just the same. The price is very reasonable. For two large appetizers, two entrees (with duck and crab meat - higher priced proteins), and two drinks, the price was ~$57 without tip. We will go back to this place when we are in the area. I almost gave this place four stars instead of five, but everything said, it deserves five! read more

Nara Thai is now under new management now . With that being said they are still doing training and hiring . They are short staffed so you have to be patient while dining . The food is still really good , some waiters are very nice and doing the best they can . Others are doing the bare minimum to earn their check. Fantastic! I did not expect such a good meal. But this place is a bit of a hidden gem. I will definitely be back. The panang curry was really excellent. The chicken was tender. I picked up a take out order here last night. When asked about vegan options, one of the waitresses suggested the vegetable pad thai. I ordered it without egg and wow it was amazing! Even after warming up the rest this morning, it was still very good. The spicy pepper sauce included is really awesome with it, next time I'll remember to ask for extra. I don't know what my friend I was with ordered but he has been there before. The place is cute but I felt like I didn't get a comprehensive feel to it. Not sure if it's a new restaurant. They pulled every cheap trick in the book to pass the food as Thai and a good value for the money. It was a far cry from anything remotely authentic. The soup came out insanely spiced even though we specifically ordered the entire meal as mildly spiced. The dumplings were a tasteless and dry ground chicken patty disguised as a dumpling and completely lacked any flavor or character. The drunken noodles had everything but noodles in it. Big chunks of broccoli, entire quarters of tomato and large amounts of sliced bell pepper, with a minute amount of noodle that were somehow in incredibly small pieces along with a few VERY think sliced chicken breast pieces. Luckily we ordered the red curry without bamboo shoots and added mushrooms with roasted duck as the protien which saved the entire meal because of flavor and that was entirely it. The bathrooms and thier doors seemed like they had never been wiped down since grad opening day. It was a very sad evening indeed. read more

Lunch menu is a great value. Soup, spring roll and a gigantic plate of Pad Thai arrived at my table. It was fresh, hot and displayed very nicely on the plate. Great taste. I have come to love this place. The food is really good. I mean really, really, good. I cannot claim to have had everything, but what I have had is tasty good. The soups have to be my high point. The portions on them are huge. I just need to get an appetizer to share with the hub and a bowl of soup. Try the Tom Kha Gai. The coconut milk in it makes it so rich and decadent. Another delicious dish is the pad thai. Other dishes, like mussaman curry and different noodle dishes have all been pleasing. I'm not much of a fish girl, so I can't really comment on those items. Ask for an assortment of chili sauces to go with your food so you can get the spice level you like. I start at medium and adjust up for my mood. Service wise, it can be a little funny in that you may need to repeat your order a couple of times. The people there are nice, though, so no worries. The decor is minimalist and kind of chic. Their use of budget smart design elements makes the place really nice and different from most Atascocita eateries. When we first went, however, one design element kept us away for a while. Originally, they only had little metal mesh chairs and BOY were those uncomfy! Now they have a few different kinds and that's much better. If you can't stand sitting there, you won't enjoy your meal. Wow!!!! I can't believe I've been sleeping on this place. I swear I pass this place up at least twice a week and never knew how much I had been missing out until today. Moving from California back in the summer of 2014 I missed my Thai cuisine dearly and craved my mango w/sticky rice, Thai tea, and other Thai dishes. Today I decided to go with something simple that I knew they could not mess up and tried their fried spring rolls and crab fried rice. When I say the crab fried rice was amaze balls...trust me I mean it!!! I could eat this everyday because the fresh lump meat crab is paired nicely with the egg and rice. The spring rolls were delicious as well but the crab fried was something I couldn't stop eating. I was surprised by the portions as well as the fact that there was crab throughout the entire dish and not just sitting on top of the rice as it is presented to you. What a great surprise this was! I had an opportunity to lunch with my wife today and she chose Thai. Using Yelp, I quickly found that my options were limited and of the options presented, Nara Thai looked and sounded the best. It was a little difficult to find as it does not face the road but... what a treasure to find! The ambience was excellent, open and inviting. The service was top-notch and the food was fantastic! I had the Pad Gra Pow (chicken with green beans, red peppers, basil and fire). It was accompanied by a soup and fried spring roll. I ordered mine 'thai spicy' and the waiter laughed at me. I'm used to that but my food actually was THAI SPICY! Scalp-sweating, nose-running, eyes-watering, rivulents running down my neck HOT! And tasty too! My wife had the Green Curry 'hot' and wishes she had ordered medium but there was nothing left on either of our plates. It's nice to have this location so close to my house. The food is nice. The staff is friendly. If you like it spicy, they can really bring it. So, watch out. I love Thai food. I go often to another place downtown because that's where I work, so my visit at Nara was in comparison to my favorite Thai place. I had the Tuam Kha Gai (coconut soup with chicken, mushrooms and asparagus). The portion is smaller than what I am used to, but the flavor was very nice. My sister had a veggie plate which was excellent. I would like it a lot more with chicken ;-). My husband had stir fry rice noodles which he really enjoyed. We did leave with leftovers which is usual for me with Thai food. All in all-food was good, service was quick, the environment was peaceful and clean, and the prices were very reasonable. read more
