My wife and I recently retired back to the Bitterroot Valley after 25 years in the military. During that time, I have been stationed in every part of the US you can imagine, The Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, the Southeast, the Southwest, the Rocky Mountains, and the Pacific Northwest. I have also visited 3 different continents and 12 different countries. In all my travels I would say that Naps burgers are hands down the BEST I have ever had. The people who work there are the utmost professional and courteous. The restaurant is clean and spacious. Unfortunately, during certain times of the day it can get a little crowded, but that is always the sign of a quality restaurant. You can order different sizes of patties, cooked to your tastes, with just about anything you can imagine as toppings. Any way you want it, it is perfection. There are plenty of other options on the menu for people who many not enjoy burgers, from chicken to salads, all high quality. If you ever find yourself in Western Montana, make your way down Highway 93 to Hamilton to enjoy this place. Even if you are zipping through the state on I-90, take some time when going through Missoula to head on down. In full disclosure, if it were possible, I would give them a 4.75-star rating due to their french fries. In my humble opinion, when eating at a burger joint, french fries are as important to the meal as grilled cheese is to tomato soup. Their french fries are that skinny stringy kind and I don't feel they live up to the awesomeness that is their burger. Don't let that keep you from visiting this slice of heaven, if you just prefer a little bit of potato in your fries, like I do, add their awesome onion rings or delicious sweet potato fries instead. read more

When my dad decided to stop for lunch in Hamilton en route to Glacier Nat'l Park my heart sank. What could there be worth eating in a tiny Montana town, right? Nap's humbled me. This is one of the best hamburger joints I've ever had the privilege of dining at; the burger patties are huge and made fresh upon order. Each burger is totally customizable with the sauce (or sauces) and veggies of your choice. I highly recommend the sweet potato fries too! mmm.. Apparently Naps has the best burgers ever, however since I don't eat meat, I love the mandarin salad with no chicken and a side of shrooms:) The mandarin salad is always fresh and crisp lettuce with nuts, mandarin oranges and a delicious oil and vinegar dressing! Yum! I order the half salad because it's quite a lot of food and it's only $4! The sautéed mushrooms are amazing and under $2. Yep, there is no denying it. Nap's is the best burger joint! I'm not sure if they are the "best in the world" but Nap's is just one of those cultural icons that tends to come around and define how all other places in town are measured. If you have ever been to Nap's you know what i'm talking about.... you go to another burger place somewhere along your travels and there is always the... "it's good, but it's not a Nap's burger". I grew up in Hamilton and Nap's is one of those places my dad always wants to go to when i'm back in town. Nap's has more than burgers though, my mom always gets their mandarin salad. But the burger is always going to be the draw. Start with a massive, flame grilled burger then load it up with all the best toppings you could want, bacon, check. mushrooms, why not? pick your cheese cause they've got it. Then there all those little veggies to top it off. This is the best food you will find in the Bitterroot Valley. Nap's has been a household name here for years. Their hamburgers are outstanding. The steaks are tender and will feed two. Best burger in town! Be hungry! They are huge so split in half and share. They aren't good warmed up. Great fries too! Super crunchy batter is awesome! It's pricey but not too bad if you follow my advice! It's kinda cooked rare so I like mine cooked to a more well done stage, so be sure to let them know how you like it! I am a burger lover and wherever I go, I must hit the local burger joints or restaurants and give them a try. We came here because according to the reviews, they were the best. I'm sorry but I was not totally impressed. I don't want to give a bad review but when you pick up your burger and put on your toppings...(No burger sauce, aka thousand island dressing I was a little bummed but I make my own and that was okay) but when I sat down to eat it...The bun was cold, I prefer them toasted or at least warmed. My husband orders a hamburger and being a vegetarian I order a grilled cheese. Keep in mind the portions are huge, and can easily be split if you are not a big eater. The fries are also delicious. We drove from Missoula to Hamilton for the rave reviews we heard about Naps Grill. I am not a burger fan so this was my first burger adventure in a long time. The burger was absolutely fantastic. So delicious. The sides that you can choose from to put on yourself were all fresh and delicious looking. The onion rings were so good. Fries were a little on the soggy side but still tasty. Ended up taking burger leftovers home and didn't want the evening snack I had to end. Way to go. We will make the trip out again. read more

Definitely one of the better burger places I have eaten anywhere in the United States. Opted for a 12 oz. patty (am I really writing that!!!)- probably should have settled for a 1/4# or 1/2#. Burger was cooked to order-the beef was excellent, choice of condiments was outstanding, and the lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were all fresh. Will definitely make this a stop next time I am through the Bitterroot. Have been looking for Montana's best burger and think this place is right up there!!! read more

I've been going here since high school and it's definitely an old favorite. No matter where I travel to and what other fancy burgers I eat, when I come home, there's always Nap's burger-grease dripping down my elbows as I destroy a Naps' Deal. The fries are a hit or miss, though. Sometimes they are crunchy and crisp. Other times they are oily and soggy. I don't know what or when the fry-disappointment happens but I eat them all the same. This has also been known about Nap's since high school and for me, it's become a game. Will I luck out and get good fries this time or will it be the soggy ones? Weeeee.... Being residents of Hamilton now, this is our go-to place to take friends and family who visit. I still think they have the best burgers in the country. I recently took my mom for the Naps experience and she loves it! We both order burgers off the kid's menu because the portions are HUGE! We split a half Mandarin salad. The staff are amazing and friendly, plus really helpful. It's a wonderful little place for an early or late lunch, peak hours are tricky because it is so popular. Even when it's busy its fun because no one is ever crabby about being there! Bring your appetite and your friends for a great meal! So I'm giving a 5 because the food is great and service us good enough. But if this star didn't reflect the staff and product as much I'd give a 2 or 3. 2 reasons. The set up in this place is for a lemonade stand..you have to cram in to get a drink with 13 people hovering over or standing around you then you won't find a seat anywhere???not that a busy business is a bad sign by any means. Tey it you'll see why they are so busy. But at the same time I have two kids and a hungry wife I need a seat. Expand....yall so busy you know you can.so 2 I don't know about the open condiment thing. I was in Hamilton on business and asked my client where to go for lunch; they recommended a different place, and luckily it was closed and we just happened to walk into Naps! Absolutely loved this place! The hamburgers were spectacular (and enormous, I might add) and the onion rings were delish! But equally as good as the food, was the fantastic service! The owner took our order and was such a great guy - really made us feel at home and took great care of us. If I'm ever back in Hamilton, this will be my first stop! read more
