We arrived about 4pm in the afternoon and we decided to get something from different locations within the food hall. I wanted to try the pizza at PiesOn and my wife wanted to try B3. I approached the counter and inquired about two slices. The young woman told me they had cheese and another combination that I can't remember the name. She also told me they would be adding a meat lovers pie in a few minutes, I quickly told her I would wait for the meat lovers since that is one of my favorites. I paid and was given a number. I had a seat and a few minutes later my pizza was brought to me. It looked delicious! I took my food over to another area of the food hall to join my wife. The pizza hit the spot and we want to come back and order a whole pie! We are excited to stop in again.

We got the Bianca and one of the salami pies and both were excellent. The Bianca is the sleeper pick. No sauce, just fior di latte and big spoonfuls of ricotta with crisped basil and olive oil. Rich without being heavy, and the ricotta stays cool and creamy against the hot cheese. The salami pie was the opposite energy -- wide, spicy slices that render right into the sauce. Crust on both had that leopard-spotted char and real chew. The space is half the appeal. Old mill building with exposed brick, wood ceilings, long communal picnic tables, Italian flags, and a powder-blue Vespa parked by the door. You order at the counter, grab a seat, and they call you up. Casual and loud in a good way -- great for a group. Fair warning: no half-toppings, no substitutions, and everything comes well done. Lean into it. Also worth noting they'll sell you a frozen 12-inch to take home.

They didn't skimp on toppings, especially for the meat lovers pizzas, they were loaded up. The crust wasn't anything that WOWed me though, it was soft, and thin, but lacked any real flavor. But any pizza is good pizza in my opinion. Their pricing was fair, and they delivered as scheduled!

Mixed bag is the best way I can describe the times I have had food from Rome Italian Pizza. I…read moreactually grew up in High Point, but had never eaten inside the actual restaurant until a week ago. That said, I have had pizzas either by take-out or delivery several times over what has to be 30 years now. Lately, I had a couple basic pizzas from them at a function in downtown, and we also stopped in for lunch on a total whim, wanting a pizza buffet. First, the pizzas over the years. I would say, on par with most of the locally owned pizza and local franchise spots around, like an Elizabeth's. Sometimes, I would describe the pizza as dry, other times, the sauce ratio is a little better and it is quite good. The pizza is a solid 4 stars, I would say, if you're considering a pizza... go for it, decide for yourself. Now, our most recent experience inside the restaurant, was simply not a positive one. We came in around 1pm, wanting to do the pizza buffet. Unfortunately, looking at what was available, it just wasn't appealing. The pizza was very cold, it needed a refresh. We expressed this to the waitress. If she had said "we'll make you a fresh pizza of whichever type you want" we'd have been game. That's not the response we got, so we moved on to hot subs. I ordered the meatball sub, my wife ordered chicken parm. The meatball was, just ok. The meatballs themselves were sliced and warm, sauce was the same I was used to from the pizza, cheese could have used more time to melt, but overall... I was OK. Her sandwich, was not good at all. She did write her own review about it, and I happen to agree. It's generally expected that ordering a chicken parm sandwich at an italian pizzeria is going to be a breaded cutlet. What was given was the shaved chicken that you would normally see if someone orders chicken on a pizza (not my thing, but to each their own). The result was very very dry chicken. The sandwich sat on her plate with two bites taken out of it for the meal duration. No prompt was given for whether we enjoyed our meal. In all, I learned my lesson that day, that this place is good for a fresh pizza. I'll only go that route in the future. The sandwiches were simply not our preference. The chicken parm needs to be rethought, or better explained as shaved chicken.

My assertion that I still like a whole pizza fresh when it comes to this style still holds true. Unless you happen to come at a busy time (actually prefered in this case) you may be getting a re-heated slice that could have been out of the oven for quite awhile. Reheating pizza by the slice to order is of course a common industry practice, but once they sit a bit too long, your end result can be less than ideal. If I think I can eat the leftovers, or definitely if I am sharing with someone, I definitely go the full pizza route. All in all, while I don't tell anyone to rush to Mario's because you absolutely have to have it, it is as reliable as they come at pretty much any of their locations... and that is much appreciated.
