    Meat lovers pizza
    Caroline H.

Hey family! I'm going to keep this one quick. So I checked this out very randomly when I went to Stock and Grain Food Hall in High Point. I was catching up with my friend and I think we wanted something sweet. We were walking around and we noticed that we hadn't seen this spot before. We looked at the menu and decided that we'd come back to give it a try but for now we wanted dessert. They had NY style cheesecake, cannoli, and tiramisu. I'm not one for coffee or espresso flavored drinks but I will eat tiramisu or have an espresso martini. So we opted for the tiramisu and I lie to you not, it was the best one I've had in a while. My friend and I looked at each other in disbelief. It was really that good. It was creamy and delectable. I mean it's a pizza place but since the dessert won me over, I knew the pizza had to be good. We came back maybe a few weeks later and we got pizza, wings, and of course tiramisu. I really enjoyed the pizza. It's enough for two people depending on how hungry you are. I will also say it has excellent reheat quality which I appreciate. The wings were really good and I loved the sauce. However, for the price of the wings, I expected them to be jumbo. They were not. I still enjoyed them and they come with carrots and celery. The service was pretty normal since it's all made to order. But if anything, get the tiramisu. It was spot on.

It should come to no surprise to you that the owner of this facility has ties to several other high quality pizza establishments in the area. Quite simply, these people know how to make a damn good pizza. During a visit to Stock and Grain, this is one of the several establishments my group tried, and we all loved the pizza. We got the Vampire Slayer, which is mushrooms, chicken and garlic. While it was a bit on the oily side, the flavor was great. The hand tossed crust is high quality and really, the toppings don't matter without a good crust! Prices are reasonable and servings are generous. The turn around time for the order was quick. I would like to see them add some salad options, because sometimes a good side salad makes me feel better about the greasy goodness of a pizza. This joint is inside the Stock and Grain food hall, which has ample seating, and is a good experience especially for a group or people who can't decide what's for dinner tonight. Absolutely worth trying!

Whoa!!! I'm already wondering when we can get this pizza again! With new places I try to manage my expectations. No need here! Delicious homemade, hand tossed crust and so much flavor on both pizzas we had. Hoping maybe they will add a salad or two at some point. That is just a personal preference, a little veg with each meal. They only serve 12" pies but they are very filling and flavorful. A great excuse to get several different ones!! Service was terrific and speedy and everything was very clean.

PiesOn's unofficial motto should be "Pizza by people who know what they are doing." The owner, Stephen, also owns Times Square Pizza in Lexington while his wife's family owns Elizabeth's Pizza in High Point. There's a pizza pedigree here going back generations, and it shows in the final product: quality toppings, good sauce, and a crust that is neither burned nor tastes like cardboard. As a New Jersey native, I often ratchet down my pizza expectations. Here, I don't have to. I'd go as far as to say that PiesOn. is the one Stock + Grain establishment that is completely worth the food hall's inflated prices (12-inch pies are $18-$19). While competent execution would be a strong lure in its own right, PiesOn. also benefits from a tantalizing and creative menu. You can still go classic (pizza margherita, a meatball parm sub, and wings are among the offerings) here, but for those looking to mix things up, PiesOn. also offers Havana-topped (ham/cheese/pickles/mustard) fries, a brie/honey/fig/thyme white pizza, and even an inverted pizza. Several of the menu items are Stranger Things shout-outs (the meaty Vecna and the Hawaiian Surfer Boy), and there are vegetarian options as well. For our first visit, my wife and I opted for the Seek & Destroy (spicy soppressata/grape tomato/chili oil) and the Don Dom (white pizza with roasted garlic cream sauce, mortadella, arugula, pistachio, and burrata). Both were served fresh and were very flavorful. The chili oil wasn't burn-your-mouth intense, but it added a welcome kick. The garlic cream/arugula combo here is right up there with the Let It Ride (shallot cream/collards) at Sticks n Stones - the pistachio adds a hint of sweetness. There are other places around that offer perfectly decent pizza for less, but if I want pizza that really impresses, I may have to make PiesOn. my go-to.

First, let me say I love the location of Stock and Grain. It was very nice inside. After looking at each restaurant, we decided on Pies on Pizza. Their Halloween decor was cool. At first, I wanted pizza, but we love a good cheesesteak, so that's what we ordered along with a side of fries, which is large enough to share. The girl at the register seemed young. She spoke very low that we could barely hear her. We had to ask her to repeat herself a couple of times. She was nice, though. We were not too impressed with the cheesesteaks. I got mine with mayo, lettuce, tomato, onions, and jalapeños. My husband got his with mayo, lettuce, tomato, oil, and vinegar. Neither of us finished our sandwiches. The fries were good, but they ran out of ketchup, which was a bummer for the hubby because he likes ketchup. I would return but only to try the pizza.

Kudos to vegan options. They were out of some menu items but delivered with this vegan pizza. If you haven't eaten at the food hall in High Point...check it out. All kinds of options

Pizza is good, nothing extra special, crust is great. Cheesesteak sandwich is good. Okay for someone in the mood for a pizza.

Peaches, Brie, Honey and Pistachios... awesome!

Wow! Sometimes you judge based on value, and other times on experience. When I saw $19 for this pizza, I thought there was no way it could be worth it. But the unique combination of fresh peaches, Brie, honey and salty pistachios made this pizza a great experience. Honestly, the fresh, crispy yet chewy crust made the entire experience great. So pick any topping you like, these pizzas are legit and worth the price. While I enjoyed this alone, two people can easily share since there's so much other food in this food hall if you're still hungry.

Based on other pictures and reviews, maybe only stick to the pizza. These wings were disgusting. Tasted like rubber. The staff also did not wash their hands enough for me to be touching food without gloves and doing multiple tasks.

    The Killer Queen

Stopped by PiesOn during our first visit to Stock and Grain. I really enjoyed the unique offerings on the menu, such as butternut and sage, and I had trouble choosing. The workers were patient and kind and helped me decide on the Killer Queen, made with a white base, Italian sausage, onion, sliced potatoes, and more. The pizza was pretty good! It was too much rosemary for me, but that's my bad for ordering a rosemary forward pizza! We also got fries which were well seasoned and very hot. Like all the other vendors, the food was expensive for what it was (a $19 12" pizza and a basket of fries for $4.50), but I'm assuming all the vendors upcharge to supplement for the cost of renting and to stay in line with food prices at the stadium next door. The overall space of the food hall was awesome, and I think it would be the perfect place to go with a group, as everyone could order their preferred food from the different offerings. Good restaurant, and we would consider making the drive from Winston to come back!

The server brings your drinks and food as it's prepared. It's a modest atmosphere but plenty of room at each table. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. You can watch your pie being made through the glass if you want to. We ordered side salad, a 16" Elizabeth Special (sausage, pepperoni, onions, peppers and mushroom) and cheese cake for dessert. Everything was delicious really. The salad was crisp and fresh and made with plenty of tomato and cucumbers. The pizza cooked perfectly and the toppings were actually cut and diced a good size (which is time consuming). The cheese cake was to die for.

No fault of theirs or mine. Well finally, at the end of 2025, I happen to be wanting pizza and in this area, so I decided to swing in for take out. First off, love the old school Italian joint feel of this building. It really smacks of "neighborhood pizza joint" and that carries inside. Even though Elizabeth's Pizza is a large local chain now, this makes you feel like it is the original, or independent... for all I know, it is. The cashier was very helpful, and I ordered their weekend special, which is a large pizza and wings for a good price. I asked her advice on the wing flavor, and she enthusiastically encouraged me to go lemon pepper. Not normally my choice, but she was very convincing so I did. Also picked up some garlic knots, because I felt there weren't enough carbs in my order already. Getting home, it was pretty much what I expect from an Elizabeth's. Solid pizza, nothing incredible, but very good. Scratches the NY style pizza itch for sure. The wings... they were fried up perfectly, however, the flavor was a total let down. I could barely taste even the slightest hint of lemon pepper. Thankfully, I had some sauce of my own, and since they were so well cooked, was able to save them. Garlic knots were buttery and covered in garlic, just like anyone would want them. Overall, classic performance from a neighborhood institution still doing it's thing. I wouldn't go out of my way to come, but i also would not hesitate to stop in if I were close by.

After a some discussion and online menu review, we settled on Rixster. We've, been many times in the past, but haven't placed a to go order since the days of Covid I called in the our order as I was finishing up a few errands, the hostess who took the order was very friendly and said it would be ready in 20-25 minutes. I arrived a very full house of families dining and sports fans enjoying food, drink and drink while watching the game in the bar area. I figured I'd have a chance to grab a beer while I waited for the food to be ready, but was pleasantly surprised to find it was already done. After some debate, I decided to try something different on this visit, and got the Hawaiian Chicken Grill sandwich with a side of a Mac & cheese. Getting home, I opened the to go container to find a massive slab of chicken, sticking out both sides of the bun, not surprising based on my past varieties of chicken sandwiches from Rixster Grill! The sandwich was delicious, marinated in teriyaki and super juicy, topped with cheese and a grilled pineapple ring. It really hit the spot, and definitely filled me up. The mac and cheese was also fantastic, smooth, creamy and very tasty...only wish I had gotten an extra side of it. Overall, it was another delicious meal from Rixster Grill! The restaurant was clean and the staff were nice. Our order was simple: side salad with Italian, a 12" pepperoni pizza and 3 garlic knots with ranch. When my husband arrived, the salad and pizza was ready, but when the person he spoke to read the ticket he realized the garlic knots had not been made at all. My husband asked about the double pepperoni - Mario's no longer allows double toppings after 4pm on the weekends. When the garlic knots were done, my husband and our food came home. My husband's name was on the salad bag. The pizza box said "Mike" - spoiler alert, that's not my husband's name. No issues with the salad. He was disappointed because there were white onions on the salad and he didn't add any to the pizza because last time they had red onions. No complaints with the salad. We ordered 3 garlic knots, but they must have felt bad as they gave us 6 - with marinara, not ranch as asked. The kicker was "Mike's" pizza. Mike must have ordered a cheese pizza and then never picked it up. Pepperoni was added and it was tossed back in the oven long enough for the cheese to melt around the pepperoni, but not long enough to reheat the whole pizza. Nice try Mario's, but we're not impressed. It will be awhile before we order from here again!

Gotta love a good southernism. I still like a whole pizza fresh when it comes to this style. Unless you happen to come at a busy time (actually prefered in this case) you may be getting a re-heated slice that could have been out of the oven for quite awhile. Reheating pizza by the slice to order is of course a common industry practice, but once they sit a bit too long, your end result can be less than ideal. If I think I can eat the leftovers, or definitely if I am sharing with someone, I definitely go the full pizza route. All in all, while I don't tell anyone to rush to Mario's because you absolutely have to have it, it is as reliable as they come at pretty much any of their locations... and that is much appreciated.

Chopping together the meat and kraut on the hot flat top grill, as well as the buttered and grilled rye bread and russian dressing, it's just such a tasty sandwich all combined like that. The other thing I love here is to build my own salad, especially with their pesto grilled chicken. It's always tender, and matches great with their balsamic vinaigrette. They may not be fancy, but they are good at what they do. I walked in craving a cheesesteak but was nearly swayed by the brisket sandwich listed as a special. Had I not known what I wanted, I would have had plenty to choose from: hot and cold sandwiches, salads, wings, kebabs, and more. They will let you customize toppings a la Subway (I added peppers, onions, and chipotle sauce), and they completed my order for takeout very quickly. Much like Jersey Mike's, Sub Spot serves up a far better cheesesteak than you'd expect at first glance. The bread was soft, the cheese melty, the meat and veggies savory and satisfying (and none too greasy). If you're accustomed to a sandwich stuffed to the gills with meat, you might be disappointed, but I didn't find the quantity to be too paltry. Given what's nearby, Sub Spot probably wouldn't be my first choice for lunch in the area, but it is convenient, reasonably priced, and tasty, a solid option all around.
