I always enjoy my visits to Andy's. You can get ice cream anywhere, but frozen custard is just a little extra treat. The staff working the counter are always very friendly and welcoming. On my last visit I discovered the "Snow monster", vanilla custard, with strawberries and melted chocolate chips, and I've been craving it since! I got another on this recent visit and it hit the spot. The strawberries with the thin streaks of frozen chocolate are an amazing combo. If you're going, be sure to ask for a pup cup and they'll be sure to give you a little bit of custard to take home for your best friend! Great spot, though I will say I'm a bit disappointed they seem to have changed their rewards program since my last visit and I swear it used to be every dollar spent earns a point, now you only get a point every $2. I don't really like that, and may make me reconsider my visits. read more

Delicious. Absolutely delicious. Their custard is creamy and their flavors are great and they give you generous toppings as well. I struggle to even finish a small. Service is extremely fast and friendly. There is a great variety of flavors for both fruity and chocolate fans. My personal favorite is the triple chocolate as well as the key lime pie. 5 stars all around!!! read more

It's always a treat for the kiddos & especially for me (mother of two) when we stop by. Our 4 yrs old love their kids sundae w/ strawberries. My hubby & I always go for Chocolate chocolate chip flavor in quart to go as evening treat (but now was told quart size only comes in Vanilla or chocolate now). So I'm deducting Star for this recent change. The friendly server/cashier said it has always been like that, which is not true! We have been customers here for 5 years. I even asked if I could order it in advance for pick up & was told not possible. Good product, friendly service, outdoors seating only, drive through service. read more

I am a custard lover. So to be clear, my OG roots are from the Midwest, Wisconsin to be specific, and I love custard. The creamy and smooth texture, the rich flavor. Andy's was jusssst about there! It was lovely to get some 'real' custard in NC, and the chocolate didn't disappoint. I was actually shocked how big it was! The custard in WI is so rich, a small is SMALL. This was a lot of custard and it wasn't too rich or sweet initially: after a few bites my marshmallow sauce caught up with me (worth it). It could stand to be a bit richer and creamier-but it definitely was CUSTARD and not just NICE ICE CREAM. The raspberry is my only meh: it was more like raspberry liquid with a few bits of fruit. Definitely a pass next time: I could see it working well in a shake though! Cute walk up/drive through space, really sweet kids working there and great service. It was one of those weird 80 degrees in November, so we sat outside on a bench to eat (some not all) of the ice cream. Definitely will swing by again! read more

Andys is the only place I like their carmel so I manage to go once a week or every other week for myself but I would go more with friends & family if I knew I wouldn't have to spend $100. This is our go to spot in the summertime for a cold treat, we love custard much more than standard ice cream. Not to mention they offer pup cups that our dogs love! The most popular item on their menu is the concrete which is custard mixed with your choice of toppings, similar to a milk shake yet much richer! They have some of the best attitudes here. I actually come often, despite my check in counter. I'll have to be more diligent with that when I come. Again the staff is so polite and it always looks like they are having a good time. Saturday I ordered Stolen Brownie Sundae deconstructed bc I wanted to eat dinner first and have my brownie warmed when I was ready to eat it. Well I ate it today and everything was still fresh. I had a warm soft brownie, hot fudge warmed up well without burning and the pecans were still soft and crunchy. They were really nice with my request as well. I visited this place in February of 2020. This place has a classic feel that I found charming. There are outdoor walk-up windows where you can place your order. They had a quick-moving drive thru line as well. They have an extensive menu of tasty treats posted by the counter. There were elaborate Sunday options and the malts caught my eye. However, I opted for a chocolate custard with sprinkles. The ice cream had a dense chocolate flavor, which was delicious. I was also happy that they were generous with the sprinkles serving. I also appreciated the maraschino cherry to top things off! I had a nice evening eating my ice cream and sitting on one of their many red benches outside of the ordering window. A great place to stop...especially when it's 90+ degrees outside. They have a drive through but we chose to walk up since it was our first visit and we knew nothing about the menu. My husband had a small cup of the chocolate custard. He has a real sweet tooth and loves chocolate but he felt it was a little too rich for him. I didn't know that was possible! I had a small cup of peanut butter and peanut custard and thought it was awesome! The custard is excellent and truly so rich in flavor I could have shared mine with him. Andy's Frozen Custard is my favorite so far! When I first was introduced to frozen custard (which was only a few months ago folks) I went on a custard exploration and probably visited all the custard places within 30min of me within a week LOL! Andy's stood out to me because of the price, texture, taste and friendliness. I'm pretty basic so I prefer the custard plain in a cup to enjoy with a spoon, but if you prefer something more elaborate they have tons of creations and toppings. If you've never had custard before it's like frozen yogurt, ice cream, and marshmallow puff all in one. Chocolate is my go too! I recommend trying the custard by its self first if you want to understand why it's so amazing as is, and then try all the mix-ins later. It also spilled all over me and the employee was very rude to me about giving me an extra spoon after I dropped mine. Weather Report: A rainy 53 degree Saturday. Our mood was iffy with a very good chance of snippy. Do you know what turned the day around? A trip to Andy's Frozen Custard! This is a drive thru or window pickup establishment, but they do have outside seating. Hubs got the chocolate custard in a waffle cone. I got the Snow Monster Concrete. It was vanilla custard with sliced strawberries and melted chocolate chips. Wait. What? Melted chocolate chips? Isn't that just chocolate syrup? No sir/ma'am it isn't! They melt the semisweet chips but when they add that to the frozen custard, it refreezes into what I can only describe as chocolate flakes. Chocolate FLAKES! It was delicious! I ate and enjoyed every bite. My pictures don't do the flavor justice but I tried. We used the drive thru and then sat in the parking lot to eat. They were really busy and the sign said they make custard every hour. I don't think they are bragging, I think that's out of necessity. Do yourself a favor and try them out. If I had to describe Andy's in two words it would be efficient and delicious. The employees are always very nice and incredibly fast. There is such a wide range of options to choose from. I usually get the Rico Suave Jackhammer but I substitute the pecans for pretzels. I would definitely recommend Andy's to everyone, especially this specific location! Stopped here with my 17 year old daughter one night. We are from out of state and looked up on the Internet a good place for ice cream and we found Andy's and we are glad we did. Now we were staying in Greensboro, NC so we drove a good minute to get here. This place did not disappoint . Out of towners looking for a quick dessert after dinner and stumbled upon Andy's. It was raining, so we headed to the drive thru. It wasn't busy at all and the young lady taking our order was very nice while we read the menu - we explained it was our first time and we had no clue what to order. She said to let her know when we were ready. Unfortunately, someone inside the store kept yelling for us to pull up, which we accepted, but a few of us didn't even have a chance to review the menu, so we missed out on ordering anything. Not too happy with the way we were treated. The two who did order enjoyed their concretes, but the rest of us were not happy. Andy's is an interesting spot that we found when we were stopping for the night while traveling back up north from our recent trip to Georgia. They have a drive through as well as an option to walk up to the counter. There seems to be a good amount of parking but I can see if getting crowded on a busy summer night. The picture posted with the review is of the pretty massive machines they use to make the custard. Pretty cool. The custard seemed to be high quality and we ended up sharing a regular sundae which includes one topping. We both enjoyed it and would consider coming back if we ever came back through this way again. read more

Andy's is one of those places I forget about unless I'm in the area. Why, I don't know because their custard is amazing! Hands down the Snowmonster is the most delicious mix. It's vanilla custard mixed with strawberries and chocolate shell topping. I love the chocolate shell topping because when they mix it up, it ends up in shavings. It makes for a great texture and fun to eat. I also add malt powder to my mixes because I'm a malt fan and this is one of the few places I can find it. For non dairy options, they have great Italian Ices in strawberry, raspberry, and lemon flavors. They're great for super hot days and super little kids because they act like a push pop and are less messy. My kids love them, especially the strawberry one. read more

Usually my experience with Andys is good. However I got my order to go and it was less than satisfactory. My custard was melted and in a cup that was cracked. If you are over the age of 35, you surely remember the frozen yogurt craze that took the country by storm starting in the 1980s. Ostensibly because it is more healthful, people flocked to frozen yogurt shops, and froyo reached its per capita sales volume peak in the early to mid 1990s. Indeed, in 1993 the venerable sitcom Seinfeld had an episode titled "The Non-Fat Yogurt" which was based on false claims from a nonfat yogurt shop. It was shortly after (because of...?) this that people began to turn back to ice cream (if they ever left) as the likes of Marble Slab and Cold Stone took center stage--because a lot of people realized that they missed the rich creaminess of real ice cream over froyo. Now we are seeing a new player in the frozen treat business: frozen custard. Though frozen custard itself is not new, shops only began popping up in the Piedmont Triad over the last few years. Is it a tasty alternative to froyo and ice cream? I decided I would find out. But first, what is frozen custard? It is essentially ice cream with two important differences. First, frozen custard contains egg yolks, which has a natural emulsifier called lecithin, making the product creamier than ice cream. Second, frozen custard has less air than ice cream because of the machine used to make it, and it is thus more dense. So it's more dense and creamy. The young man behind the counter was very pleasant and helpful explaining what everything is, sizes, etc. As it turns out, Andy's has only two options for just plain frozen custard: vanilla and chocolate. They have a slew of concoctions and combinations, but if you just want plain old frozen custard, you have to choose vanilla or chocolate.  I chose vanilla.  The taste is similar to other soft serve ice creams you have had, but it is indeed richer, creamier, and more dense. At first I was thinking that it was nothing special, but as I continued to eat it, I appreciated more and more the subtle complexities and richness of this product. There is only so much you can do with vanilla. It is, after all...vanilla. But it tasted great. At least as far as Andy's is concerned, side by side with soft serve ice cream there is no dilemma: I choose Andy's frozen custard is an excellent, tasty, rich, creamy frozen treat. read more
