They have inexpensive bottles staring under $10 that are not only respectable, but will more than satisfy your wallet and pallet. But red wine isn't all they stock. They have a fine offering of white wines, hard alcohol, hard to find accoutrements, cheeses, and other alcohol-based odds and ends that will have you wandering the store like a kid in a candy shoppe. Its a no frills small liquor store with an impressive selection of beer and wine, limited cocktails on the run selection...It was close to where we were staying so you could walk in, not sure if they have off street parking as it's on a busy street. I went in hoping to pick up an online order that I missed when it was delivered. I had my ID and the order confirmation with me, but the clerk let me know that for a few reasons (e.g. the order was a gift but wasn't listed as a gift online, I don't have the credit card used to place the order since it was a gift, and my shipping address doesn't match the address on my ID) he couldn't let me pick up - okay cool, I get it. But then he also said that it's because they've "been scammed thousands of times" and just can't afford to let me pick up the order. If he'd said it's because of laws around online alcohol orders or that it's just their store policy, that would have been totally fine. But his comment was unnecessary and rude. It seemed like he was implying that I was trying to "scam" the shop. Maybe reconsider how your staff talks to people when they have to be turned away and maybe don't imply that someone is trying to steal when it's just a technical mixup. read more

I confirmed the price of the whiskey placed a bottle on hold. Came the next day and they purposely raised the price by $100 in the computer system although the sticky note was written with the correct name and agreed price. The cashier called the owner but the owner wouldn't honor the price. The cashier was very apologetic and agrees that is unfair. The cashier said that the owner has done that before. The owner had his brother raise the price at Liquor Land also, in which we also placed the bottle on hold. Both places were raised by $100 because I placed the item on hold. Crooked business practice. All whiskeys are already over priced. They tried to gouge thinking I'm desperate for the bottles. As soon as I stepped foot in here I wanted to drop hundreds of dollars. I held back, but know that this will be my new spot for when I need something unique, or when I would like some suggestions on what to purchase. I was left to peruse on my own but it was made known that they were happy to help if I needed it. They have craft beer of all types, wine, beer, and spirits. Everything is categorically organized, making it easy to find if you have something specific in mind. Most of the craft beer was refrigerated, which I appreciated and I was able to pick up some unique bottles. In addition, they offer free tastings every Friday and Saturday night from 5-8pm. I think they might do it on Thursdays too. You can pop in any time during that 3 hour time frame for a taste of the nightly offering. Sometimes its beer and sometimes its wine but you can check their Instagram or the chalkboard in-store for the upcoming tastings. A unique aspect is that they put together events out of the store too. I was told about a 2 hour whiskey tasting boat ride which also includes snacks, and that they are putting together a wine tasting bus tour. So definitely come in and make friends with whoever is working and I'm sure they'll give you all the scoop. read more

This store us going out of business, which is not surprising. They are rude and disrespectful. I called asking if the carry Dom Perignon and he said yes. When I asked him how much is was he became very irritated and said he didn't know off the top of his head and he was too busy with customers. I never asked him to stop serving his customers and would have been happy to wait on hold. He lost a sale of $300 which I guess he didn't care about. Good selection, I find them a but pricey compared to other spots but they have good staff and a better bigger location so overhead is probably higher. I dig the younger dude with the black pony tail/manbun. He's always been helpful and when the door is locked but he has 5 minutes he takes care of us. There was this one time so bought a 12pk of $9 beers, I noticed the date was almost a year old and he had just gotten these because i would Of noticed! He let me bring them back for an exchange! This is a review for the Duffy boat wine tasting they offer. The owner sold us on it by telling us it included unlimited wine. He made it seem like there will be plenty of wine for the entire boat trip. He also said that he provides food and the boat will have 8 people on it. In reality, he packed 10 people on the boat and a driver, making it very uncomfortable. The wine ran out in 1 hour. Leaving an entire hour on the cramped boat without wine. The "food" was just a sliced cheese package from Costco. For $50 each, this trip was a complete ripoff. read more

Let's start with saying I enjoy a great craft IPA. Pliny the Elder, bottle or draft in So Cal, is a unicorn. As a craft beer bar owner, I understand why Russian River doesn't distribute to just anyone. They are 100% craft-centric, as they should be. I called today asking if the Bottle Shoppe had it. I was informed by an annoyed employee, manager, owner (I don't know) that no one in Long Beach, CA gets it. As an owner of my own business, I told him there is a local "liquor store" that did receive regular shipment, although though limited quantities are sold per individual. Understandable. I told the gentleman that I would let him know what local liquor store sold it. I called back to let him know that it was CORKED, 4360 Stearns Street, Long Beach, 90815. He was PISSED! Saying, they only give you one bottle! Who cares! Quit calling, I get this call every single day asking if we have Pliny! Sad. Bottle Shoppe can put themselves on the map as an awesome spot, wether or not they have Pliny!! The abrasive attitude and inability to provide customer service is unnecessary for individuals who desire a great craft beer. read more

This place has a really wide selection for beer, liquor, AND wine, and manage to keep the place very clean and well organized. Was blown away at how much they have the moment I walked in. Lots of limited release/small batch craft beers! Excellent selection of liquors - whiskey/bourbon/scotch, tequila are the ones I had my eye on, so I didn't thoroughly check others (rum, vodka, gin, etc). A ton of wine at all price ranges! I got a craving for Belgian beer and needed to find a place with variety. Bottle Shoppe was definitely what I was looking for. They have a vast selection of craft beers and wine, from 6 packs to individual bottles to growlers. And the gentleman working was super knowledgeable and helpful although he was feeling under the weather. He helped us make a decision with the little bit of info I gave him which was pretty much "I want a strong belgian beer that tastes good". Prices are reasonable. Sad, but true. I have shopped here several times, and was never that impressed with anything other than the location. Don't expect good wine advice, or even honesty. A bottle was suggested to me that was purportedly a $50 bottle on sale for half that amount. So, I bit, and it not only retails elsewhere for $21, but it was almost undrinkable. If not the largest collection of beers in town, they most certainly are a top contender. I love Trappist brewed Belgian ales, and The Bottle Shoppe always has them in stock. I love this liquor store! It looks small from the outside but they have an impressive variety of craft beer, wine, and spirits. You can buy cute wine bags for gifting or pick up some gouda cheese and crackers! I don't write anything unless it's just poor service, and I hope for this business they can do away with their 3rd party delivery service. So I go online and look up liquor delivery and I see this site for DRIZLY, looked good and placed an order very simple, easy. I get a call about 40 mins out or so when the order was placed and was told my order would be delivery soon. There was a type of beer I ordered but they did not have in stock no biggie just ordered another one. An HOUR later still no liquor delivery...I called the cell# the gentleman called me from and it's a recording saying unable to complete call at this time. I call the Bottle Shoppe gave them my story and they were helpful enough to look into the issue, however when they told me it was delivered to my APT, I'm like NO I'm here and no one called me or showed up to my door, mine you I live on the 5th floor so they would have to call me in order for me to let them in. The gentleman from The Bottle Shoppe said he would get back to me in 10 mins to investigate and speak to his manager, which he did, however his manager said they would need to investigate this tomorrow morning??? I'm sorry not acceptable!!!! How do you not know who your 3rd party delivery company is and/or not have their contact details/cell phone#s??? I don't know how this liquor delivery thing works, but IF you partner up with someone I would think you would know who you're partnering up with since ITs YOUR NAME on the line as well....Nonetheless, the BOTTLE SHOPPE looks like a nice spot to purchase DIRECTLY from, but NOT THROUGH DRIZLY....SHAME on DRIZLY !!!
