This place has one of the best snack selections I've ever seen in my life!!! I've been going here for over 10 years, but since the remodel, Loma Liquor has really leveled up!! Just look at the pictures, they have an epic selection of snacks, drinks and alcohol. The workers are always very nice to myself and my wife. Great vibes here, always cool music. We live right down the street and it's such a blessing to have this amazing store in the neighborhood. You can't miss the vintage neon sign! I was doing my laundry next door (the change machines don't accept $20's anymore due to the change shortage, so I needed to get some $5 bills). I was thirsty as well so I went next door to Loma Liquor. I said "good morning" to the man at the counter, who didn't say anything and scowled at me like I did something wrong. When I was rung up, I asked if he could break the $10 bill he was about to give me into two $5's. He shook his head and threw the $10 on the register, and yelled at me. He said "You do not belong here, you do not ask for things like this. Don't ever come in here again. You do not belong here." I just laughed at him and told him okay, because he was being so ridiculous. If the problem was that he didn't have enough $5's, I would have understood and told him not to worry about it but he had to yell at me. He got his way, I won't be returning. read more

This place has saved me several times... butter, (of course you would expect them to have it), lemons, limes, bananas... Ginger ale.. one morning when I was extremely hungover, tin foil (good tin foil too Reynolds Wrap), the list could go on... They also have a surprisingly good "fancy" beer selection. They have a great selection of beers from Fat Tires', Peroni's, Hemp Ale, Rolling Rock, Longboard, etc. Better than any 7-Eleven or AM/PM w/ nothing but Bud Lights & Coors. Not that those are bad, but a real beer drinker wants to see & taste more variety. My liquor store. They have a pretty decent beer selection here (Stone Ruination IPA, anyone?) and very fair prices. My husband and I have a ritual involving this place and the laundromat 2 doors down (which is the best laundry ever, if you're wondering). The guys who work there always know its "laundry night" and know to put our beers in separate paper bags for us. Plus, their prices on things like laundry detergent and bleach are reasonably low considering it's a liquor store next to a laundry. And I almost always seem to run out of something like that. Not worth traveling a distance to, but if you live in the neighborhood and need some beer or hooch, it's worth a stop. read more

While you won't be able to get a deal on wine here quite in the same realm as at a Trader Joe's, this place has it all going on when it comes to a good variety of wine, smokes and almighty location. It's right next to the local laundromat so it's a convenient stop while you're waiting for clothes to be processed by the machines. Sundry items and pantry staples are pretty limited, so come here for a decent selection of bottled wine, beer or cigarettes. Although it's been a long time since I smoked, I still notice when a place carries the good stuff. Davidoff (even the rainbow colored ones!) and American Spirit sit alongside their cheaper counterparts. Not that smoking could be considered cheap anymore. Oh yes, and disposable e-Vapes at the register indicate the sign of the times. Staff aren't bubbly by any means but they are friendly enough. I come here when I don't feel like getting in the car to hit Lakewood or Seal Beach. Oooh! One other cool thing. They carry pints of Thrifty ice cream. How often do you see that? read more

WHY DOES IT STILL BOTHER ME: the baby and I stopped at LOMA LIQUOR, our local neighborhood store, for a loaf of bread and we were followed into the store, around the store with our loaf of bread, to the register and out of the store where the second worker put his headphones back in and sat back down in front of the store...today I was grubby from two soccer games but I am not followed at the end of my workday in my suit when I stop there multiple days a week...just glad my little one did not notice. I've been going to this store for the past few weeks due to how close it is to my new home. Up until today I haven't noticed anything bad about until today when I decided to get a chocolate bar. I opened it up and it was completely white, even though it was milk chocolate. I looked at the expiration date and it expired in April of 2016! If I hadn't checked the expiration date before eating it I would have been screwed. I definitely don't recommend not getting anything from here. read more
