The cabernet had a 91 rating from the Tasting Panel, but the malbec didn't have a rating, as it was a new item. Seeing how it's made with organic grapes, and malbecs are usually good bottles of wine, I chose the Organic Arbol De Vida Malbec Argentina 2024. Organic Arbol De Vida Malbec Argentina 2024- Lovely bottle of wine. Each sip had berries & plum, plus the pucker from expressive tannins. I'm not a wine connoisseur, but I found this particular malbec approachable and non-offensive. However, I'd choose a bottle of bourbon or sake, any day of the week. 1 cent for a bottle of wine? That's cheaper than Boone's Farm! Total Wine wanted to get me nice & toasty on the cheap for my birthday, treating me like a cheap date. I am very disappointed with the customer service guy tonight (Wed, May 13, around 7:45 PM). While floor staff are nice, the Caucasian/white guy working customer service was incredibly rude and hostile.I bought the wrong tequila by mistake and came back within the hour for a simple, even exchange ($11 Jose Cuervo). Before I could explain, he aggressively snapped, "You can't return this in California." He refused to listen or ask questions. He made me feel so uncomfortable that I just left.Total Wine's policy explicitly allows California returns if "purchased in error." I was correcting an honest mistake immediately. This store wasted my time, as we approach the store got a full cart of beer when we're about to pay they didn't want to sell it to us because one of person that was not going to pay didn't have her ID. We should the person a picture id and they didn't accept it and manager with glasses so unhelpful and rude said the person without can wait outside and he still didn't want to sell to us. will never by from this store again bad management and ridiculous polices. Went in on Saturday, 02-28-26, for some champagne and a new red wine when I bumped into Alissa. Alissa was a vendor who was handing out wine samples. Not only did I enjoy sampling 6 different wines but I also enjoyed learning about the different processes of how they were made. And found myself purchasing a bottle of the last one I tasted. Which was a nice red wine. Now yesterday, 03-01-26, I went back for their "In-Store Sip & Explore" event. Had the pleasure of tasting at least 4 different wines at each station. There were 3 total. Both gentlemen were welcoming, professional, courteous and respectful. It was very intriguing learning about each wine. It was like receiving a one-on-one at a wine tasting event just without the charcuterie board lol. It was fun though and I bought a bottle of Vostra Prosecco. I'm definitely attending more of these in-store events and enrolling in their weekly wine classes. And the associates on the floor are always awesome. Being there to answer questions, recommend or suggest and guide in the right direction. I never go wrong coming to this location. I love the energy and vibes. read more

I've been to total wine plenty of times to buy different wines and alcohol and never noticed they had classes before! Me and my friend signed up for a Chardonnay wine class on a Saturday evening for $20 each. It lasted about an hour and a half. Our wine connoisseur instructor was informative and generous with our wine tastings! There was plenty of snacks ( cheese, meats, veggies, crackers, fruits) to go along with our wine as well. We got to taste 9 different Chardonnays and write down the flavors and what they pair well with and rank which ones were our favorites. I ended up with two bottles( Olema and River Road) each $14!! Really great date night idea or hang time with friends!! Definitely recommend. read more

At the beginning of Oktoberfest '24, I made a list on my phone of imported German beers (focusing on Hefe's) that I would try if I got the opportunity. Sadly, that never materialized. But opportunity struck when we were close to the Long Beach location of Total Wine & More, and had some time to browse. Ended up picking a great six pack and a small case of soju, in preparation for Thanksgiving dinner. Weihenstephaner is the oldest brewery in the world (first brewing at the location at 1040 AD), and exports their various beers all over the world. The one I wanted to try was their witbier: Hefe Weissbier Bavarian style. Instead of a pre-assembled six pack, you are allowed to create your own from separate bottles. In fact, Total Wine has one side of an entire row dedicated to single bottles/cans of beer (of course having an higher eaches price than a six-pack). For German beers, they carried Weihenstephaner and Paulaner (sadly out of their oktoberfest styles), in both pints (16.9 oz) and the standard American bottles of 12 oz. So the six pack I created (all from Weihenstephaner): Hefe Weissbier (2) for $4.99 each, Korbinian ($4.99), Hefe Dunkel ($4.99), Vitus ($4.99), and Original Lager ($3.99). Ended up being by far the most expensive 6-pack ever, but that's OK. We also picked up a six pack of Korean soju (Good Day brand for $16.99). They stock what sells, so I didn't really see much Asian beer or spirits... but still a lot better selection than most liquor stores. Checkout was a cinch, and they made sure that we got credit by entering our loyalty number (phone). read more

This is one of the better Total Wines I've been to. They have a large large selection of any kind of spirit, wine or beer you're looking for. Same as most other locations their staff is going to push you to looking at their Spirits Direct brand which is decent but it's their brands they have made for themselves so they have more inclination to push them over others. I always take a spirits direct recommendation with a grain of salt because they have to push them. Other than that, they have great pricing for almost everything and offer such a large selection it'll make your head spin. We stopped by this location to pick up a few extra cases of liquor for a wedding. After speaking with an associate who radioed in the request, we were told the cases would be ready at customer service in about three minutes. Since we needed a few other items, we took our time and didn't rush. When we finished shopping and headed to customer service, we were abruptly told to go stand in the checkout line. Not only were the cases not ready, but the customer service rep gave us serious attitude and claimed we had just asked for them -- which was completely false. We had spoken with someone well before that. Look, if the store was busy or there was a delay, that would've been totally understandable. What's not okay is being treated rudely and blamed as if we had unreasonable expectations. The communication between team members was clearly lacking, and the dismissive behavior from customer service only made the experience worse. We won't be returning to this location and wouldn't recommend it to others. Better training and basic courtesy would go a long way here. read more

My family and I stopped here to pick up some tequila for a member's birthday celebration at Lake Tahoe. Unfortunately they didn't have the brand we were looking for, so we picked up a bottle of Don Julio 1942. The team member who helped us out was nice, and we were able to check out quickly. The store is really clean and orderly. I was surprised that we weren't able to find El Tesoro here despite their huge array of products and brands, but I don't expect a store to have every specific thing I'm looking for in the first place, and honestly our bad for not calling and checking. I have to give them such a high review because I come to this location often since it's by my house, order on the app, and make my pick up there. Using my order is always ready within like 15 minutes! I never usually have to wait within the hour to go pick up my items. And when I go to the pick up spot, usually I haven't had to wait more than 20 minutes. This last Saturday I literally got my order in like two minutes. Not sure why they have an average reviews? Everyone was so kind! Except for this cashier and their manager.... Me and my sisters went in to buy a gift for our mom. Me (20) and my sister (16) were not holding and bottles. When we entered kind workers offered wine to us and talked to us, OBVIOUSLY WE REJECTED since me and my little sister are minors. My little sister even said that she was a minor. No one said anything to us, made a comment to let us know that we shouldn't be in there. I was indeed holding a birthday card and some candies for my mom. My oldies sister (31) was the ONLY one holding the wines. SHE was the one who was making the purchase, NONE OF US touched or held the bottles. Once we got to the register the cashier asked for my oldest sister's ID (understandably). They then requested for our ID. We then look confused to each other and say we don't have IDENTIFICATION on us. The cashier asks what our relationship is to my oldest sister who is purchasing, she says we are sisters, the cashier doesn't believe us and calls over the manager. The manager comes over looking bored and tired of his life and says, "You HAVE to be over 21 to shop here. There are signs." He walks away annoyed with his job and we proceed to look at each other confused as we did not see signs. 1: Their signs are not that visible. They have two small signs at the SECOND entrance, one was covered up by some big sign to the right. Whereas the one to the left was just a 10 inch sign saying UNDER 21 CANNOT ENTER. 2: THERE ARE CHILDREN RUNNING AROUND EVERYWHERE! ID the kids... there were many kids under 10 walking with their mothers, touching wine, grabbing stuff, and whatnot. Their website says, "To help in this effort, we don't allow any person under the age of 21 to enter our store unless accompanied by an adult guardian of legal drinking age*. All parties in a group may be required to present identification. If you appear to be age 30 or under, our team members will ask for identification to ensure we are doing everything we can to prevent sales to minors. It's our responsibility to our neighbors and the community." WHICH IS UNDERSTANDABLE I LOVE THAT! When we tell the cashier that we did not see any signs in front the cashier proceeds to say, "Well they're all OVER the store," in a very very very annoyed tone. "If you're not looking for them OBVIOUSLY they're going to be missed." Respectfully, me and my little sister left while my oldest sister continued to make the purchase. We do our "quarterly" splurge at Total Wine and never disappoints! Well, this last time we visited on December 30th to get a couple bottles of Veuve Clicquot! They only had a few bottles left, we got lucky! But Total has so many options that if they do run out of one brand, there's always another one to fall back on. Cannot go wrong with some Sean Don (Moet & Chandon) lol. (So keep in mind when you need champagne, don't wait until the last minute to buy for new year's eve or whatever occasion you are celebrating. ) We like to stock up on red wines, both organic and non- organic. There are too many to choose from so we try to stick with some favorites and try new ones when it sounds interesting or has a high rating. We are very lucky to live in a state that is one of the highest producers of wine. Tonic water is something we like to keep around. Lime and Yuzu Fever Tree was our choice this time around. Let me preface this review by saying I don't know much about alcohol. However, I gain a little knowledge about it every time I visit this TW location. My boyfriend and I had a very engaging conversation with Dan! He was helpful and knowledgeable. Today's lesson was on additive-free tequilas! Some tequilas are not 100% agave. I didn't know that due to the lengthy and laborious process of making traditional tequila, some producers become impatient and take shortcuts in creating them by adding additives. They add (harmful?) artificial flavors to try to mimic all the complex flavors of a traditional tequila, and these ingredients aren't listed on labels because it's not permitted to do so. The lack of transparency unlocked a concern that I never knew I thought I would have... After this mini lesson of course I had to pick up an organic, additive-free reposado tequila! If you shop anywhere enough times, you will have some good experiences and some bad experiences. For the many times I've visited this store my experiences have been almost all positive. They have a great selection here and the prices are fairly reasonable. It seems like I get coupons every couple of weeks and they have a customer loyalty program. What I find most appealing is the interactions I've had with the staff. Most recently Jameel recommended a $20 Côtes-du-Rhône based on me describing other wines I've enjoyed. It exceeded my expectations! He is very knowledgeable and very good at picking a wine. Another staff member who I've encountered frequently is Scott. He's always very helpful in locating a wine I'm looking for and I enjoy just talking wine with him. Jack I met when he started teaching the monthly classes. He is very knowledgeable, makes excellent recommendations and again I enjoy talking wine with him. My wife and I frequent the monthly classes. We find them fun and educational. We almost always find one or more hidden gems that we like from the classes. I like that every class has one or two wines that are not budget wines. So, there is the opportunity to try some higher end wines. Also, they are offering even more classes in a month in 2024! We're really looking forward to those My only recent negative experience was when I attempted to buy a Shiraz wine. The App said See Team Member. When I asked the wine the response I got was a term or phrase I had not heard before. When I asked if that meant I could not buy a bottle I was told that is correct. Fortunately I was able to buy a bottle in the Redondo Beach store. What I would suggest or change: 1. Offer coupons or discounts at each class for the wines that were profiled in the class. 2. Improve the App! I can't find events in the App. Remove the press and hold to confirm I'm a person, it's annoying! 3. I'm a huge Syrah fan. Please carry a larger selection of California (Paso Robles) Syrahs. 4. Consider offering another tier on your customer loyalty program. Maybe at 40,000 or 50,000 points.
