Lamps were broken, dust was coating the walls in each of the two rooms we stayed in, the showers we not cleaned, the towels smelled like they washed dogs with them. When I say nothing was cleaned, I'm not exaggerating, everything was dirty. Fans were caked in dust, windows were coated in mildew and streaks, carpets were coming up in many places. Sheets were dirty, stained, and dressers were missing knobs and broken. What are people paying yearly for if it isn't upkeep of the rooms? The only saving grace?? Amber who does the booking for excursions. She is by far one of the nicest, funniest, amazing individual to book and find you the best excursion. Amber should get all the props for everything about this place. Let's also talk about the pool. The pool was great honestly but there is no security to help with only having it be resort guests only. Many locals come in and use it as well because people let them in or leave it unlocked. The jacuzzi at points was never warm and was filmy and nasty. This was my first time staying here and I was hoping for much better but it was a disappointment apart from Amber.

We booked through VRBO and stayed 5 nights in unit 311 which has a great ocean view and the sunsets from the lanai are like no other. You might even see some honu (sea turtles) poke their heads up or flick a flipper just beyond the rocks. Most mornings, the local canoe clubs head out early and make a stop in this cove for their morning rituals. Like many condo buildings in Kihei, it is dated, but with good upkeep and maintenance. There are many pluses and some minuses, but again the view is the best. + Location: 20 min drive from Kahului airport and steps from the ocean. + Free parking: If there isn't a hang tag pass in your unit, request one at the lobby office that's open 9am-2pm. + Beach: Family friendly and easily accessible. Most of the lagoon is knee deep and you can wade up to waist deep all the way out to the rock sea wall. If you want waves, go past the rock wall to the other side of the beach. The sun peeks over the building mid-morning. + Pool: Very clean and well maintained. Saw the pool guy every morning skimming debris. 3-6 ft deep. Shower before swimming, Use the pool code to enter and exit. Open 8:30am-8:30pm + BBQ Grills: 3 gas grills by the entrance to the beach for residents use with 2 picnic tables. Saw the staff cleaning them every morning. Look in your unit's kitchen for BBQ tools. + Rooftop access: Another 4 gas grills up top with plenty of tables. Great for stargazing on clear nights. Open 7:30am- 9pm. + Monsoon Bar & Grill: Indian Restaurant right downstairs in the lobby with ocean views. Wall mounted 32" RCA TV in bedroom, but only has Roku you have to log in your own service. + Full Kitchen w/ microwave, dishwasher, full size refrigerator, electric stove, drip coffee maker & pop-up toaster + Clothes Washer & Dryer + Lanai with ocean view. The photos of this rental did not represent the actual space! Over priced, out dated and unclean! Living room : Had to wash comforter from the second bedroom ( we didn't plan on using ) to cover the very worn sofa, just to relax! One of the two sitting chairs had ice cream or candy stains on the seat ! Kitchen: Was over stocked with unusable cookware- warped frying pans and no baking dishes! Sand flys invaded the counter probably due to the garbage disposal over due for service and the many cockroach traps screamed unwelcome guests would at some point appear! Washrooms : The bathtub was filty dirty and stained, I wouldn't wash my dog in it ! The cabinets were all worn and partial board, totally disgusting!I had to wash the standup shower, sinks and floors before even using! Not to mention the ratty worn out towels that were left to use were awful! Not a hand soap bar to be seen! Only 3 same sample bottle of shampoo, conditioner and body wash was complimentary! The Lanai.. Table and chair set was wobbly, totally garage ! And the not so cute birds that made a nest in the exterior light ( that did NOT work) which my husband had to remove because the property management group did nothing about that after contacting them! We did want to use the lanai to enjoy the beautiful sunsets due to bird poop being present ! so unsanitary! We were expecting a small refund but never did receive a dollar! There was plenty of room for the two of us (and plenty of drawers and room in the closet for our stuff), the kitchen had everything we needed, and there were lots of thoughtful design touches that made the place more comfortable. The location - right on the beach at Napili Bay - is great for swimming, snorkeling, and watching the sunset. For possibly better snorkeling, check out Honokeana Cove (lots of turtles, a 10-minute walk to the South) and Kapalua Bay (lots of fish, a 10-minute walk to the North). You will also find plenty of restaurants within a short walk or a 10-minute drive, and Snorkel Bob's, a place to rent snorkel gear, is literally right across the parking lot from Hale Napili. If you need to buy groceries, the Napili Market -- a nice (but expensive) grocery store -- is only a 10-minute drive. This was our first visit, but it's easy to understand why Hale Napili has many long-time returning visitors. If we return to Maui, we would happily return to Hale Napili.

The host went above and beyond with a generous welcome basket of local Hawaiian treats--it's clear they truly enjoy hosting. The condo was very clean and communication from Ali'i Resort was excellent, with a simple check-in/check-out process. At some point, the owners sold off each unit and now every unit there is individually owned and managed thru Vacasa . com (at least that is who you end up booking with when you go to Mahina Surf's website to make a reservation. Therefore, amenities will vary by unit. There is a review here from June '23 stating her unit provided everything (beach chairs, cooler, etc.). She was lucky her unit provided that, but those are not standard amenities the property provides. My unit (#221) had some old random pool noodles and boogie board. Maui is gorgeous and this property is just as beautiful in the photos and is right on the ocean, but just know, your beach access is a beach full of rocks. It's not your regular swimming beach. There's nowhere you can take a stroll on the sand. Either way, most ppl will drive to see all the other wonderful beaches in Maui. Units there are only 1 or 2 bed. 2 bed units are all on 2nd floor. You get a full kitchen with standard amenities (dishes, cookware, utensils, etc.) Some units like mine had cooking spices in the cupboards, leftover pantry items like coffee, sugar as well as plastic containers food prep dishes. Property has a nice pool. No umbrellas (they get blown away by wind) there but plenty of lounge chairs and a few tables. You are equipped with ONE set of bath &beach towels & bed linens. That's it. So depending on how long you will stay, you will need to wash. There's co-op machines. Our unit provided about 5 loads worth of laundry detergent & tabs for the dishwasher. You need to be careful and read about what each unit provides before you book, because it tells you. They DO NOT provide any cleaning supplies. SO BRING YOUR OWN. I brought a 3oz TSA approved spray bottle of Formula 409 and Clorox wipes. You will need to clean because of bugs. There's a Safeway (Vons) nearby & a Costco close to the airport. Costco will have the best prices. Also tons of ABC stores (Hawaii-based general store) where you can get just about everything--but EXPENSIVE. The units have louvered windows and a huge glass sliding door to the balcony/lanai so there's a lot of openness, hence bugs. You may find bug traps (ours had them). It's Hawaii, there's bugs. Anyway, you really can't get away with keeping everything closed up because none of the units there have any AC. I went in July and it was quite hot. There is almost always a breeze, so it's tolerable, but just so. I've also been there in November, but that was 20 years ago, so with climate changes, who knows now lol. Vacasa also provided a few hotel-style toiletries like shampoo and lotion, but bring your own from home because buying at the store is very pricey. A small package of baby wipes at the store was almost $10 for example! Nevertheless, it is Hawaii and almost everything will be double if not more than the mainland.

Plenty of bowls, dishes, cups, pots and pans! Everything you need if you plan to cook!! There's also a bbq grill near the pool. I loved this place!! This place did not have AC, but surprisingly it was not hot. Nice breeze and fans in every rooms kept us cool. We kept the windows open. Each condo has their own wifi, fast speed! I will come back again!

Immediately, I felt a bit more like a local. The location was perfect for hitting beaches in Kaanapali and shops/dining in Lahaina (about a 5-8 min drive to each). The room (as described) has a king bed, mini fridge, kitchenette with microwave, and several dishes/silverware. The bathroom is full of natural light, and has a large vanity. Blow dryer, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided. The room had a spacious deck with a panoramic ocean view and lounge chairs + bistro table with umbrella- We star gazed at night and whale watched during the day (saw a full breach by a beautiful humpback and tons of blows and fin slaps). The real amenities lie in the shared space- MGO offers tons of beach gear to be borrowed- a variety of chairs, coolers, umbrellas, sunscreen (reef safe!), beach towels, toys, floaters, AND MORE! I can't overstate how amazing this is- similar rentals would cost a small fortune to rent. The host was not available when I arrived, but I was greeted by a sweet black cat & check in directions. It was also in the perfect location right between the all the shops in Lahaina and the resorts. We didn't have to drive more than 10 minutes anywhere. The rooms are also beautiful with a quaint, cozy feel. Our view outside our window was gorgeous. Although it wasn't the ocean view, we had beautiful views of the garden and greenery. The hotel was also very clean and well maintained. There were a few cats that would roam around but my favorite in particular was this black cat with brown stripes that would occasionally hang out on the balcony. It was a beautiful cat and was super friendly and is very polite and didnt disturb us at all! He even let me pet him :) overall our stay was everything we wanted. Thank you from tyler and deb!
