The luana units were PERFECT for our large 3 generation family vacation. The smaller pool and hot tub (as opposed to the larger communal pools) were awesome for the kids to play, as was the green space in front of the unit. we have stayed in ground floor ocean front units several times and loved them but 1) they have become very dated and lacking in upkeep 2) you are always dealing with crowds. 3) it is much harder to keep track of the six grandkids! we have rented from other agencies and MRR is by far the most responsive! Mahalo for a fabulous vacation!

Algae settled on nonstick shower plastic - it was also peeling at the edges.

I think the Kaanapali Alii in general is a good building, has perfectly maintained grounds, and Alli staff is wonderful. Our experience with the housekeeping, and Maui Rentals, was much less so. DIRTY: Upon arrival we found a property that was grungy around the edges. The throw rug in the bathroom was visably dirty, the carpets and furniture were in need of a good shampoo - they werent just stained and worn, they were dirty. The bedspread smell indicated it had not been laundered for at least the prior two or three guests. I found used BandAids (YIKES) a french fry and a cheeto in the desk drawer. I had to wipe down the dresser drawers, the mirrors had remnants of toothbrush spray, there was green algae on shower steps, fake plants (which I dislike anyway) were literally caked with dust. I don't tolerate that standard in my own home, why would I do so in a "luxury" resort condo for which I was paying close to $1000 per night. I did complain, but they could not have shampooed the carpets and the upholstered furniture without disrupting our stay (nor did they offer to do so). This is all part of maintaining the property, and imo this was a fail. They did come and launder the throw rug & bedspread, and did give us extra sheets to cover the furniture, and gave us foam to sleep on when we were promised two beds (see below). Such were our "luxury" "new" accommodations. NOT NEW/MISREPRESENTED: The unit itself was listed on VRBO as being "completely new" but we found nothing new, in fact, everything looked like the 1990s or 2000s, except the appliances, which were probably installed in the last couple of years, even so, the frig did not make/dispense ice. We were also explicitly told prior to booking that the king bed in our unit could be split into 2 twins. When my two adult children arrived later in the week, we found out that was not the case, (something about only Kings in "guest" bedrooms could be split, not in master bedrooms) that our bed was not splittable. This was frankly infuriating, and sort of ruined the family part of the stay because our son had to sleep on a hunk of foam in the living room - which meant we all had to turn in and rise on his schedule (which differed from our own), not to mention his discomfort and lack of privacy. NOISY: Last but not least, our particular unit (262) was located over the back service entrance and adjacent to the outdoor Westin bar. Over morning coffee on the lanai we were greeted by delivery persons and their trucks backup beeping and driver language, and with our evening cocktails enjoyed the thumping beat of dance music. The lanai was anything but peaceful. This unit should come with a noise warning. It was loud enough at times for my apple watch to register a decibel warning. ACCOMMODATION: Not a dime was offered as any adjustment or accommodation. No apology or concern. Nothing. Not even an apology. Just a gee whiz, "someone" gave you bad info, we'll bring you some sheets and a foam "futon". BOTTOM LINE: The Alii itself is a nice property. We have stayed here before and our room was pristine and peaceful. Take care about the location and condition of the unit you choose to rent. Not all units are created equal. First and foremost: AVOID BOOKING IT THROUGH MAUI RESORT RENTALS unless you know the condition and location of the unit. Even then, I personally would not rent from them given the standards they think are acceptable in a luxury rental.

Our stay at The Whaler Resort was wonderful! We were able to check in and the room was beautiful along with the view. The 24/7 front desk access was amazing as well and Maui Resort Rentals was extremely responsive. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful tropical getaway.

We had such a great experience with Maui Resort Rentals! Our main contact, Zach Mazotti (Guest Experience Supervisor), was outstanding - professional, responsive, and always a pleasure to work with. The unit itself was almost brand new, beautifully appointed, and exactly as described. The central AC had been installed but wasn't working due to a builder issue (totally outside the agency's control). Maui Resort Rentals was very transparent about it from the start, offered us a discount, and quickly set up portable AC units so we'd be comfortable. On the rare occasion we needed help, someone was sent immediately and handled everything professionally. Their honesty, responsiveness, and commitment to making sure we had a great stay really set them apart. We'd absolutely book with Maui Resort Rentals again and highly recommend them for a luxury stay in Maui.

We stayed at Luana Garden Villas in Lahaina. We got the rental through Maui Resort Rentals, and the entire experience was well managed. First, the unit was new, beautiful and immaculately clean. See the pictures. It was also well outfitted with utensils, plates, grilling equipment, a fantastic grill, beautiful lanai. They also left plenty of dishwashing detergent, laundry detergent and all the appliances were like new. The unit was very roomy and comfortable. They were extremely organized and responsive -- much better than a typical Air BnB. You can book with them directly -- I think it was a little cheaper than through AirBnb or VRBO. I highly recommend using them to book your next vacation in Maui ...

We enjoyed an amazing week at Kaanapali Alii. The staff were so friendly. The location is perfect. We are already looking forward to our next stay.

Our stay was amazing, I would stay here every time I visit Hawaii! The place is absolutely beautiful and truly feels like home. Everything in the house is high quality and thoughtfully chosen, from the comfortable beds to the well-stocked kitchen. The location is perfect , close to the beach, shops, and restaurants, yet still peaceful and relaxing. The only small suggestion I'd make is for the host to provide a beach umbrella for guests, so we don't have to rent or buy one (they can be pricey). Other than that, everything was perfect, we can't wait to come back!

We absolutely loved our stay at Honua Kai. The views were impeccable, the resort was clean, the sunsets were superb! Questions about our stay were answered in a timely manner. The upstairs neighbors were noisy very early in the AM (which is always a possibility no matter where you stay), though you are told specifically how to move furniture to help this to not happen Additional towels for a family would be helpful - only 4 towels for 4 guests was tricky. We appreciated the beach chairs and cooler in the room, plus the cookies and coffee welcome gift were such a treat. We'll be back!

The resort itself is absolutely beautiful. The unit we were in had breath taking views of the oceans and mountains, we loved sitting out there for our morning coffee and relaxing with a glass of wine at night. Maui resort rentals was great to deal with and worked with us to find the perfect unit. They were quick to reply to any of our questions and the unit was extremely clean with everything we would need for our stay. The outrigger had excellent staff as well and even delivered our groceries to our room when we came back from the supermarket. We would highly recommend Maui Resorts and the beautiful Honua Kai resort.

The free valet was fantastic, and the room was spacious, clean, and had a gorgeous ocean view. We had an issue with our mattress and it was never comfortable. That was the big bummer of the stay. They replaced our mattress after we said something but it didn't fix the issue. When we laid down, we always felt like where laying way back like toward the headboard, feet higher than our head. It may have been a bed frame issue. It wasn't the worst, we just ended sleeping the other way. You have to call housekeeping to get service. That was super easy and they did a great job. All staff on site were wonderful. The grounds were well-kept, and we loved spending time by the pool--there were a few different pools, each with its own unique feel. Surprisingly, we went down the slide several times (haha it's not just for kids). Duke's on the property was a big plus. They had servers taking orders pool side. The food trucks nearby were fantastic, dealing distance away, and so much variety. they're open u til 8pm. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely come back.

From the pools, amenities and the gorgeous view. The rooms are condos that come with kitchens, laundry and balconies. The first time we stayed we did a one bedroom partial ocean, but this time around we did a studio and enjoyed the full ocean view. The staff have spoiled us with some sweet congrats cookies that we really enjoyed. This property also has a Dukes on site which is super convenient. They do get busy though so we've just ordered to-go and enjoyed our food on the balcony. One thing I wish this hotel did have would be a cafe, or some kind of coffee on site. There's a market in the other tower, but the building we stayed in has one under construction. I'm hoping they put a coffee spot because it would be perfect! We love the location and feel when we come here and the included parking is a HUGE plus! I couldn't recommend the Honua Kai more and we look forward to more visits here in the future.

We were also given two keys, which made it convenient to access the pool and hot tub. Our lanai had an amazing ocean view and became our favorite spot to enjoy meals and unwind. I've honestly never stayed anywhere that felt so peaceful and relaxing. While the property may look a bit dated, that's part of its Maui charm. We booked the room through Airbnb, but it's also available directly through My Perfect Stays. My only wish is that checkout were a bit later, 11am instead of 10am, since we had a red-eye flight home and a lot of time to fill on our last day. The bedroom/living area was outfitted with a comfy queen-sized bed, couch, desk and chair, lounge chair and 43 inch tv. The best part of it all was the spacious balcony which overlooked the Pacific and gave birdseye views of neighboring islands. Noelani Resorts also offers two beautiful pools---one heated, the other not, and a jacuzzi. It also has several grills and a bar area complete with ice machines and the ability to set up an impromptu cookout/luau/party at any hour. What's more, the resort is conveniently located near popular restaurants, shopping, beaches and tourist attractions. At some point, the owners sold off each unit and now every unit there is individually owned and managed thru Vacasa . com (at least that is who you end up booking with when you go to Mahina Surf's website to make a reservation. Therefore, amenities will vary by unit. There is a review here from June '23 stating her unit provided everything (beach chairs, cooler, etc.). She was lucky her unit provided that, but those are not standard amenities the property provides. My unit (#221) had some old random pool noodles and boogie board. Maui is gorgeous and this property is just as beautiful in the photos and is right on the ocean, but just know, your beach access is a beach full of rocks. It's not your regular swimming beach. There's nowhere you can take a stroll on the sand. Either way, most ppl will drive to see all the other wonderful beaches in Maui. Units there are only 1 or 2 bed. 2 bed units are all on 2nd floor. You get a full kitchen with standard amenities (dishes, cookware, utensils, etc.) Some units like mine had cooking spices in the cupboards, leftover pantry items like coffee, sugar as well as plastic containers food prep dishes. Property has a nice pool. No umbrellas (they get blown away by wind) there but plenty of lounge chairs and a few tables. You are equipped with ONE set of bath &beach towels & bed linens. That's it. So depending on how long you will stay, you will need to wash. There's co-op machines. Our unit provided about 5 loads worth of laundry detergent & tabs for the dishwasher. You need to be careful and read about what each unit provides before you book, because it tells you. They DO NOT provide any cleaning supplies. SO BRING YOUR OWN. I brought a 3oz TSA approved spray bottle of Formula 409 and Clorox wipes. You will need to clean because of bugs. There's a Safeway (Vons) nearby & a Costco close to the airport. Costco will have the best prices. Also tons of ABC stores (Hawaii-based general store) where you can get just about everything--but EXPENSIVE. The units have louvered windows and a huge glass sliding door to the balcony/lanai so there's a lot of openness, hence bugs. You may find bug traps (ours had them). It's Hawaii, there's bugs. Anyway, you really can't get away with keeping everything closed up because none of the units there have any AC. I went in July and it was quite hot. There is almost always a breeze, so it's tolerable, but just so. I've also been there in November, but that was 20 years ago, so with climate changes, who knows now lol. Vacasa also provided a few hotel-style toiletries like shampoo and lotion, but bring your own from home because buying at the store is very pricey. A small package of baby wipes at the store was almost $10 for example! Nevertheless, it is Hawaii and almost everything will be double if not more than the mainland.

The best thing was the fantastic view, we went to the beach at least once a day and saw sea turtles in the sand every time we went later in the afternoon. Another good thing to as proximity, very close to convenient places to eat, get groceries, and get gas. We stayed for 4 nights in July including my husband, our toddler son and myself. Our unit was A202. Pros: - There's private beach access and a swimming pool inside the resort. The beach is fine sand and the waves can get a little rough. Many people were snorkeling and swimming so probably not unsafe. We didn't go snorkeling as we don't know how to swim and our toddler didn't like the waves. But that's on us. Overall a great private beach. - There's a shower and foot wash so that you can leave the sand at the beach. There are also beach towels, two pretty new beach chairs and an umbrella in the unit which we carried to the beaches we went to. - The building is in close proximity to Lahaina Harbor and Whaler's Village, making it quite a prime location. - There's a TV with an internet connection, a well appointed kitchen, washer dryer and dishwasher. The Internet needed some router restarts but eventually it did and then worked seamlessly. - The unit was cleaned well too. There's ample parking and an elevator up to the units. So quite accessible as well. Cons: - The bedroom and the bathroom have no access to the single portable AC and can get quite stuffy and hot. We were visiting in July and this was a major concern. There's no ventilation in either of these and that made it worse. - Even the living room doesn't get cooled down much by the single AC. We at times wished we stayed at a hotel with a kitchen rather than here due to the heat. - The unit is overall small, almost like a studio apartment with some makeshift doors. I think it's partially on Airbnb advertisement where the previous owner sold it like a bigger unit. It's good enough for a couple or a family of 3 with a little kid, like a toddler or smaller. - The bedroom is just beside the staircase so you can hear people walking up and down super clear and evidently they can hear you too. It mattered to us since we have a toddler and we needed to put on white noise to suppress this as much as we could. - The single closet in the bedroom is crowded with a lot of things so we used a couple of basket drawers to unpack our clothes. I wish there was more unpacking space.

It is quite startling when dead asleep. Second, there is no air conditioning. All of the windows need to be open for air, which also contributes to the noise level. We thought it petty to charge for coffee after the first day of the stay. We had booked a two bedroom and were given a loft with a downstairs bedroom with two full beds. That too, was disappointing as my husband and I booked it, but felt compelled to give the other couple we were vacationing with the larger bed upstairs. Overall, the space was very spacious with vaulted celings in the living room and huge kitchen that was well equipped, clean, and had easy access to the beach. There are some lounge chairs available on the beach, inside the roped area on the hotel side, but they do fill up fast. There is a strip type mall across the street had a small grocery store and eating places, including Miso Phat. Good sushi! If you read this and stay, you will be well informed as to what to expect.

Biggest annoyance tho, was that our unit hadn't been properly cleaned. Some personal items left behind from a former occupant, and most of the dishes and glassware had to be washed before they were suitable for use. While there are plenty of fans, there's no air conditioning, which is a huge miss for a tourist resort catering to folks not necessarily used to this heat. Unlikely to return here. Lots of choices nearby, will go somewhere else next time.
