Our family just completed a 10 Day stay at the Honua Kai and it was amazing. We stayed in a 2 bd 2 ba lower level in the Konea tower and I wouldn't change a thing! Staff was wonderful, amenities were great and plenty of pool options for the kids. The beach out front of the hotel is a bit rocky, however you can go about another 100 yards toward the Westin and it's amazing. Would stay here again without a doubt. We booked through Maui Resort Rentals and it was a breeze. Communication was great and everything we needed was at the room or simply a call away. read more

We absolutely loved our stay at Villa 12C at Luana Garden Villas in Maui! The villa was beautiful, comfortable, and had everything we could have asked for. The amenities were fantastic, the pool was awesome and just a short walk to the beach and resort pools. The beds were incredibly comfortable. Loved the two villas we rented and they've been beautifully kept up. A/C was broke in one villa but the portable units in each room worked great! They provided an extra futon and toddler bed for two grandkids. We loved the big dining tables and spacious rooms for our group of 9 adults and teens and 2 toddlers. Walking distance to food trucks was awesome. Pools were cleaned every morning. Close to the beach for sand play and snorkeling and sunsets! Our plans were originally for five-nights but hurricane Lowell and a road closure prevented us from getting to the airport and traveling. The overall experience in Unit #1056 was great, the view, accessories provided was spot on. When I picked the unit ,the description said so had no surprises ,that was a little dated and we found that to be true ,but knew in advance so your descriptions were accurate, no problem with that. But if I could make a few suggestions that we noticed that could be addressed when future cleaning takes place. Special note are the flexible ceiling panels in the shower are very dirty and noticed when looking up I could see that there is about a 4"-5" diameter hole, like there was a dryer vent before in the vertical wall as if it was going to the net unit, this is ABOVE the flexible panels. Also the grout around the base of the shower is dark and needs to be taken out and re-caulked. I think the problem there is the bathroom has no exhaust vent thus a home for mold. Carpets at some point need to be cleaned or replaced as no doubt lots of wear and tear. The only other thing was the TV instructions, really weren't easy at all and the remote in the bedroom never worked so used the main in the living. The TV system need to be future addressed as hooking up to the TV not at all easy and getting to basic channels. So with all of that, I don't want you to think that we wouldn't rent through you again or pick unit #1056, Our entire stay was great and appreciate the professionalism you all displayed during and before our arrival. The luana units were PERFECT for our large 3 generation family vacation. The smaller pool and hot tub (as opposed to the larger communal pools) were awesome for the kids to play, as was the green space in front of the unit. we have stayed in ground floor ocean front units several times and loved them but 1) they have become very dated and lacking in upkeep 2) you are always dealing with crowds. 3) it is much harder to keep track of the six grandkids! we have rented from other agencies and MRR is by far the most responsive! We loved our stay at Honua Kai. We stayed in a 2br/2b with 3 adults and 1 child. The place was large and spacious giving our toddler plenty of room to play. The unit was well equipped and had everything we needed. Being on the corner unit, we had views of the ocean and the mountain side and it was perfect for sipping our morning coffee. We had one issue at check-in but we had no issues communicating with our hosts. Will definitely stay here again. read more

Beautiful views of the beach in front of the Polo Beach Club and also in front of the Fairmont Kea Alani next door. Large comfortable lanai with dining table and two lounge chairs. The unit was clean, well equipped and decorated nicely. The furniture was perfect for the space. The bed and pillows in the main room are very comfortable and there are adequate amounts of towels and linens for longer stays. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking, drink making and cleaning. When it's time for the beach, the beach chairs and umbrella were all in excellent condition and there were plenty of beach towels. We have stayed at this property many times and this unit was amongst our favorites. The property itself is perfect, sitting right on Polo Beach and having a pool right there of sand is not your thing. We were very unhappy to find out the elevator next to our condo had been out of service for months. Two seniors with severe knee problems didn't need to walk almost a 1/2 mile to get to the main elevators. I called Maui Resorts and they were rather rude about it. Also, last night there the guest bath smelled like raw sewage coming from something. Again, we called. Said someone would be up the next day. A bit disappointed both times. We had a wonderful stay! The apartment was perfect for our group of 3 adults and 3 kids. We had everything we needed in the apartment, including a fully stocked kitchen. Views of the ocean and mountains were great, we ate every meal on the balcony. The resort is perfect for a family with young kids! We loved all the pools and easy beach access. Lots of local restaurant options and activities nearby. The Maui Resort Rentals team was very responsive and made check in/check out extremely easy. Aloha future reader! Just WOW - please feel assured you can not go wrong with this unit, the Whaler resort, or the teams at Maui Resort Rental and the Whaler Resort. The unit itself it ocean front and being in the north tower and 7th floor was the perfect location. Making breakfast and eating on the Lanai as the sun rose, having a drink and watching the sun set directly in front, and sleeping while listening to the sound of the waves was simply amazing all around. The unit is well appointed, with everything you need in the kitchen, a comfortable bed, two bathrooms so several people can be getting ready at the same time, an in unit washer and dryer, solid wifi, and everything clean and well maintained. We also enjoyed the slightly retro style and feel of the unit, comfortable and approachable. The Whaler Resort itself is ideally located on Kaanapali beach, about in the middle of the best part. Short walk down to the reef point for surfing, a short walk the other way up to Black Rock for snorkeling and jumping and playing. It is also right next door to the Whaler Retail area with great restaurants and shops, and only about a five minute drive down to Lahaina and about fifteen minutes up to Napili Bay and the northern coastal areas. And the staff at Maui Resort Rental and the Whaler were exceptional. Communication was always timely and helpful, and everyone was super friendly and kind and willing to help with any questions or guidance we needed. They all expressed the spirit of "Living Pono" in all they do and created an awesome experience that will resonate long after the trip is through. I have already recommended the unit and Maui Resort rentals to several people and can say it is highly recommended to anyone looking for a great condo rental on Kaanapali beach...the unit, the location, and the teams were awesome all around. We stayed in unit 353 2 BR ocean view (building 3, 5th floor, unit 3). Unit is well appointed with plenty of cooking utensils, pots/ pans, dishes. There is a blender, coffee maker, toaster. Kitchen has oil, salt and pepper. The beds were comfortable. The lanai had a beautiful view of the ocean and sunsets! We have stayed in Kaanapali many times (usually a couple properties down), this was our first time staying at the Alii- it is a nice property with a nice pavilion with TVs & lounge chairs to be able to watch the big games - we were there during FIFA World Cup semi finals. The pool area has many lounge options (open and covered). Beach area has vast beach and the option of using the complimentary Alii white beach chairs (the unit 353 chairs are more comfortable, but the other chairs are fine if you are moving back and forth from pool to beach). There are umbrellas to rent and the Alii staff will set them up for you- be sure to tip- they work hard! Showers to rinse off sand before entering property/ pool area (though I saw many guests use the pool to rinse off- please don't). The grill area has plenty of grills and tables with a spice cabinet for all to share. The concierge / towel hut is helpful and ask about the Palapa Lottery- I didn't ask until the day before we left and it was too late. Parking is not handicap friendly- so be aware- plan to be dropped off before your party parks. Only recommendations for the unit: 1. Check the game/ puzzle cabinet- could use some TLC - some guests have removed pieces and parts of games, some are non functional or unable to be played due to missing pieces- yatzhee had all the dice (& some extra) and we made our own scorecards. 2. Consider cushions for the lanai furniture. These are just minor suggestions- overall - I would highly recommend this unit! read more

The unit itself was almost brand new, beautifully appointed, and exactly as described. The central AC had been installed but wasn't working due to a builder issue (totally outside the agency's control). This was our first experience using Maui Resort Rentals and cannot recommend them enough. We stayed at the Honua Kai. When we asked for an extra blanket on our first night (kids run cold) they brought one over within an hour! We then decided to extend our trip by a few days and they found another unit at the Honua Kai and helped us out a bit on the rate. And finally, I forgot my Kindle while packing. We have been coming to the Honua Kai resort for over 20 years staying in many different rooms but 937 was at the top of our list. The view of Lanai & of the sunset was amazing!! Liked the floor plan too. The only downside was the construction noise in the suite above but they were great keeping the hours not too early or late. Our stay was amazing, I would stay here every time I visit Hawaii! The place is absolutely beautiful and truly feels like home. Everything in the house is high quality and thoughtfully chosen, from the comfortable beds to the well-stocked kitchen. The location is perfect , close to the beach, shops, and restaurants, yet still peaceful and relaxing. The only small suggestion I'd make is for the host to provide a beach umbrella for guests, so we don't have to rent or buy one (they can be pricey). I think the Kaanapali Alii in general is a good building, has perfectly maintained grounds, and Alli staff is wonderful. Our experience with the housekeeping, and Maui Rentals, was much less so. DIRTY: Upon arrival we found a property that was grungy around the edges. The throw rug in the bathroom was visably dirty, the carpets and furniture were in need of a good shampoo - they werent just stained and worn, they were dirty. The bedspread smell indicated it had not been laundered for at least the prior two or three guests. I found used BandAids (YIKES) a french fry and a cheeto in the desk drawer. I had to wipe down the dresser drawers, the mirrors had remnants of toothbrush spray, there was green algae on shower steps, fake plants (which I dislike anyway) were literally caked with dust. I don't tolerate that standard in my own home, why would I do so in a "luxury" resort condo for which I was paying close to $1000 per night. I did complain, but they could not have shampooed the carpets and the upholstered furniture without disrupting our stay (nor did they offer to do so). This is all part of maintaining the property, and imo this was a fail. They did come and launder the throw rug & bedspread, and did give us extra sheets to cover the furniture, and gave us foam to sleep on when we were promised two beds (see below). Such were our "luxury" "new" accommodations. NOT NEW/MISREPRESENTED: The unit itself was listed on VRBO as being "completely new" but we found nothing new, in fact, everything looked like the 1990s or 2000s, except the appliances, which were probably installed in the last couple of years, even so, the frig did not make/dispense ice. We were also explicitly told prior to booking that the king bed in our unit could be split into 2 twins. When my two adult children arrived later in the week, we found out that was not the case, (something about only Kings in "guest" bedrooms could be split, not in master bedrooms) that our bed was not splittable. This was frankly infuriating, and sort of ruined the family part of the stay because our son had to sleep on a hunk of foam in the living room - which meant we all had to turn in and rise on his schedule (which differed from our own), not to mention his discomfort and lack of privacy. NOISY: Last but not least, our particular unit (262) was located over the back service entrance and adjacent to the outdoor Westin bar. Over morning coffee on the lanai we were greeted by delivery persons and their trucks backup beeping and driver language, and with our evening cocktails enjoyed the thumping beat of dance music. The lanai was anything but peaceful. This unit should come with a noise warning. It was loud enough at times for my apple watch to register a decibel warning. ACCOMMODATION: Not a dime was offered as any adjustment or accommodation. No apology or concern. Nothing. Not even an apology. Just a gee whiz, "someone" gave you bad info, we'll bring you some sheets and a foam "futon". BOTTOM LINE: The Alii itself is a nice property. We have stayed here before and our room was pristine and peaceful. Take care about the location and condition of the unit you choose to rent. Not all units are created equal. First and foremost: AVOID BOOKING IT THROUGH MAUI RESORT RENTALS unless you know the condition and location of the unit. Even then, I personally would not rent from them given the standards they think are acceptable in a luxury rental. read more
