Pa'ia, HI. This is a great place to stay, it is quiet and peaceful, tucked away behind a wall with a rolling gate. You can park your car inside and walk to town. The grounds are carefully tended to, the rooms are pretty much spotless. Everything looks very clean and new. Great large bathroom and large shower that does'nt need a door. Unlimited hot water. The king bed is firm but comfortable. The outside kitchen area is perfect, you may share a refrigerator with others but the empty wine cooler serves as another refer. Price is pretty good when comparing to other B&B's in the area. The manager is awesome, he can even help you get a table at Momma's Fish House. Now that is service. Plenty of beach gear is available for guests also. They will do a lot to make sure your visit was a good one. I'll be back for sure. read more

Seriously the perfect property to stay in Maui! Had an incredible stay at Mangolani Inn. Dave was extremely hospitable and went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect. The property is gorgeous and peaceful, with lush landscaping and relaxing common areas. The space and landscaping felt like a five-star hotel that was beautifully designed, modern, spotless, and full of thoughtful touches. Location is super convenient. It is a short walk or quick drive to Pā'ia's cafes, shops, and beaches, yet quiet at night. I loved the comfortable bed, strong Wi-Fi, and well equipped kitchenette. Beach towels and gear were a bonus. Parking was easy and check in was smooth. Mangolani Inn feels cared for in every detail, and Dave's warm, attentive hosting made all the difference. This is a magical place with mango, lemon, lime, coconut and avocado trees in the most peaceful yard with multiple areas to sit and relax and enjoy the outdoors. The room was clean, quiet, comfortable with simple tasteful decor. I loved having my own entrance from outside. I had a sliding glass door too which opened to the beautiful mango tree and long beautiful light peach flowers. And I must have found 14 perfectly ripe avocados around the yard one day after seeing one in the driveway and stopping for it. And looked up and the huge canopy of the avocado tree was filled with fruit! This is an amazing place. I whole heartedly recommend staying. And it's just a short walk to town. We had an incredible stay at the Mangolani Inn. Would 100% recommend for anyone looking to unwind and get a local experience of Maui. We chose the Mangolani Inn for its location in Paia - a laid back beach town central to all the activities we wanted to do while on Maui. We stayed in the small studio. It was perfect for my fiancé and I. Our bedroom and bathroom were spacious, bed was comfortable, and everything on the grounds was in pristine condition. The hot tub was ready round the clock. The outside kitchen area had a fridge, sink, coffee machine, toaster oven, grill, and fresh fruit from the trees on the property. I'm going to miss that inside outside -living! Beach chairs, snorkel equipment , beach umbrellas, and coolers were available for us to take with us during the day. Access to laundry machines was also a plus. We have stayed in lots of different accommodations in Paia. This is definitely our favorite. It is absolutely lovely. Can't beat the location. Walking distance to both Paia town and the beach. Our studio was large, very well appointed and super comfortable. Full kitchen that was nicely set up for cooking meals. There was also a very large outdoor area with outdoor kitchen, grill, beautiful, shaded dining area, and even a full bathroom. Our host Dave was very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be coming back!!! read more

My stay at the Mangolani Inn was incredibly special... and very healing. Dave and his family are such great humans. They told me about the amazing water system setup in their house, and I was sold. For me, good water access is huge. The system runs throughout the entire grounds! So even the showers were filtered, which was wonderful. The other people that would come through and stay at the inn were really interesting and fun to meet. Adventurous, world traveler types from all over. I ended up staying in the large room, with kitchen. SO nice. If you want to really treat yourself... that's the one. A few of my favorite things about my stay: -Making smoothies from the bananas grown in their yard -Highly imaginative and magical conversations with their young son -Great yoga within a 2 minute walk -Easy walk down to the ocean, swimming every day -Sunshine and fresh air! This place is unbelievably heavenly. The property is a beautiful oasis of palm trees, tropical plants, fountains and art. You really feel like you are in a tranquil paradise like Bali. The location is incredible, walking distance to world class meals like Mamas fish house and more down to earth healthy and delicious spots like Mana and Cafe Des Amis. Hey, this is unfortunate. We lost our room when you double-booked Dave. It's as simple as that. That deserves a negative review (readers: see Nina's comment a few days ago below). Your booker assured us we were reserved (See below). I'm sure you're a nice guy often. But there are business processes that should be improved: (1) If you as the owner are booking when you are out of the country and not having great computer connection, you should be more careful allowing your booker to 'confirm' reservations. (2) If a deposit is necessary to consider a room reservation confirmed, you and the booker should make that clear to potential guests. I would've let it go with Nina's comment, which was honest. But you since accusing *us*(!) of not having the aloha spirit, and your getting her name wrong, and accusing me of blackmail isn't sitting well, after you guys first double-booked and kicked us out and admitted 'miscommunication' (double-booking) which really jeopardized our trip. It seems you will reply with some accusations against me, but for the record it still seems worth it, so I've typed up what happened so others can clearly see for themselves what happened and help (you) and them avoid the same mistake. I'm not going to make this personal against you, just stating the facts. So we called the Mangolani number on your website on Jan. 4, 2015 and spoke with the booker twice and did everything he asked of us. He had us confirmed in the Treehouse room on the second call. On the first call, which was very pleasant as it lasted about 20 minutes, I asked specifically "Are you sure you don't have to contact the owner?" The booker said, "No, I'm the one who does the booking." He never mentioned that the owner also does booking. How would we know given what he told us? I suppose all future guests should speak with you Dave the owner regardless of what they are told and pay a deposit before considering the room booked. You guys should get that together. Also, he seemed very nice and not so new to us. I even had the foresight to ask the question, and was told no. He also did not ask for a deposit, which we certainly would have given. And so after the first preliminary call, and given the availability of the Treehouse room for a week, we happily researched flights and a few days stay at another part of the island. And found a flight and hotel that would work within our budget and schedule. But before committing to those I called your booker back the confirm our reservation with Mangolani on the second call to him. We booked our trip around Mangolani, after he said we were confirmed on the second call. (Why would I make that up? Why would I book a flight and other hotel around Mangolani reservations if it wasn't confirmed? I would not.) We then went ahead and made and paid for our plane reservations and the other hotel reservations. We did not hear until the next day (not hours later) you had already booked the room, and we were out. I still do not know what we did wrong. Often in this situation, a business will give some sort of compensation to the compromised party. So I did tell your booker we were very unhappy, and that we hoped he could ask for a discount on a future visit or something, and/or might leave a bad review. That's not blackmail, that's a natural response. He never spoke with you about this anyway. Just held the line on the "you're out dude" call that we were out of the room. Your booker did try to find a place to put us in in the area before he called that next day with the bad news, so he seemed to understand the snafu we'd been given. (He could not find another place; we were very lucky we did.) This does happen. My girlfriend Nina (not Tina) was obviously disappointed and mad that the loss of a 7-day room in a desirable area had been twice-booked. That happens. Some business owners would respond differently. I will not use the same language referring to you. You are probably a nice guy often. It was a mistake that due to high occupancy did threaten our trip. And the experience we had deserves the negative review. You have many positive reviews. Maybe your enterprise and booking protocol will improve, or others potentially looking to stay there, will benefit from hearing about it. read more

Hands down the BEST experience I've had renting a vacation home. Dave takes great care of the house, and everything's clean and very well equipped (including laundry, beach chairs/towels/umbrellas, and more things you don't have to pack). The entire place gives off a warm and inviting atmosphere, and guests are made to feel like friends of the family, like true houseguests. It never feels empty - music is playing outside or people are laughing, and Dave is always around tinkering with the house (which just shows how much he cares). I recommend this to anyone wishing to stay in Maui - the location in the town of Paia, just 15 minutes from the Kahului airport, is convenient for getting to any part of the island: the beaches around Lahaina and Kapalua for snorkeling are just an hour away, Haleakala Crater is 1.5hrs to the summit, the South Shore beaches are just over half an hour, and the Road to Hana basically starts right in Paia. I will certainly come back to the Mangolani Inn next time I'm on this island. read more

A number if circumstances led me to The Mangolani Inn and I couldn't be more pleased with my decision! Paia is the perfect little town if you want to avoid the "resorty" tourist vide. And the Inn is just a short walk to all the restaurants and shops, and a few more steps to the beach! You can even see the ocean from their tree house which is the space I am going to stay next! So obviously I would stay there again and again... And again! Also, it's a gated property so I felt safe to leave my car door unlocked and even my bedroom door open the whole time. Dave and his wife and son, Nila and max are the coolest and super laid back. I felt more like a guest in their home than just renting a studio for a week. They are super friendly and incredibly accommodating. I really enjoyed seeing them around the courtyard and sharing stories and a drink with them here and there. The room I slept in was the medium size, and the moment I walked in I was impressed with how large it really was! Almost everything was renovated and beautiful. Full functioning kitchen which I used regularly. Bathroom was perfect with a cute shower and lots of counter space. Now the bed... Was it made from clouds in heaven?! Probably not but, man, did I sleep great every night! The manager who lives on the property, Scott, was also super rad! He was available to answer questions and give secret local tips on what to do around the island. I spent a lot of time hanging out with him when he was around and I feel like I had a more special experience because of that. I also loved seeing the pups and cat hanging around. Did I mention there's a comfy hammock and hot tub? You're welcome!:) The space is just hands down the most unique, relaxing, hospitable place I've stayed, and for the price it's a no-brainer to go with the Mangolani Inn! read more

This place is great! We booked the entire inn for our wedding week to house all our of wedding party and couldn't be happier. The house gave us a private space to celebrate with our friends for the week and provided ample space for every couple to sleep. It's clean, accommodating, and has everything you might need (kitchen supplies, a washer/dryer, surf boards, even pets on the property). The only note - there is no air conditioning in the studios or the bedrooms - just the main living space. Not usually a big deal, but this August was a bit warm. The place is close to the beach and the town of Paia - definitely walkable if you are looking for somewhere without a car. It's also gated, so has a bit more privacy. Dave was great to work with, quick to reply and always responsive. I highly recommend this place. read more

My wife and I where lucky to stay 9 amazing days here in Daves little Paradise. The location speaks for itself but on top of the obvious reasons I can mention a few of our unexpected benefits from staying at The Mangolani Inn. Surfboards in various sizes, snorkeling equipment, quality kitchen eq. esqui boxes to bring to the beach, free fresh local fruit and a nice couple of dogs to hang out with. Not knowing much about Maui, we booked our 5 day stay in Wailea at the Marriott resort. It's a very nice hotel, but it's just not our speed. On our day trip to the Road to Hana we drove through Pa'ia and stopped for coffee. It's felt so much more our speed so we looked for a room on short notice. Dave answered the phone when we called, and we lucked out... someone had left a little early and he had a room available for our remaining two nights. We packed up and drove to Paia. The room was newly remodeled and very nice with AC. The property itself is very cozy, well maintained and visually beautiful. There are plants and greenery everywhere, and Dave's sweet pup Chia greeted us with a sleepy sweetness when we arrived, followed shortly by Coco and Lucky. Dave was a great host. He was prompt and friendly and got us to the room after a quick tour of the grounds. There is a communal kitchen, laundry space, and a hot tub that was piping hot all day and night. There is a big bin with beach chairs, snorkels, fins, umbrellas, boogie boards and coolers that are for communal use, which we made good use of. There are plenty of beach towels that were clean and smelled nice. We made our morning coffee and enjoyed the wonderful restaurants for our meals. The town itself is amazing and it was exactly what we needed to end our trip to Maui. read more

Outstanding! My husband and I visited Maui for our 1 year anniversary. We were looking through airbnb for a unique type of place and we knew we wanted to stay in Paia. We aren't super into resorts or touristy places, and we could not have picked a more perfect spot. The Mangolani Inn was everything we could have wanted, and more. Dave gave us insightful tips on where to go and what to do. The property is incredibly well kept and he even provides beach chairs, towels, snorkeling equipment, surf boards, etc. Almost anything you could need is available to you. We stayed in the treehouse and LOVED it. It was exactly what we were looking for. The treehouse also has access to an outdoor shower and fully equipped kitchen (where we cooked at least 1 to 2 meals per day). Not to mention the hot tub which is always hot and ready to be used. I'm a big fan of Paia and was really excited to have found this place on Air BnB -- it's a very short walk to the center of Paia with its great shops and restaurants as well as beautiful Baldwin Beach, a mellow beach that isn't overrun with tourists. My boyfriend and I stayed in the treehouse which has an amazing ocean view and was very cozy. There is a little outdoor kitchen with all the basics we needed to cook some simple, delicious meals with local ingredients (yum) and we actually LOVED the outdoor shower (there was plenty of privacy). The owner Dave and Clint, the property manager that was there, were both super friendly and helpful -- we were especially grateful for all the snorkeling equipment on site for use. read more

Mangolani Inn truly is a special place, with it's own magical vibe and character. You feel it as soon as you enter the property. Super close to the center town of Paia, but far enough away and enclosed in it's own tropical scenery you feel it's a destination on it's own! My wife and I loved that we could walk from the Inn to Paia town and the nearby beaches. Also loved having our favorite food store Mana's down the street to pick up some items and head back to the inn to cook. Even though we stayed in the unit that had our own fully stocked and LARGE kitchen .. we loved hanging out in the outdoor common area with kitchen.. and mingling with some of the other guests. Dave, the owner, truly creates a chill, laid back yet welcoming vibe and him and his staff were always around and super helpful if needed anything. Super clean and beautifully decorated rooms, well taken care of grounds, quite, and our favorite part was the hot tub on property to relax after an adventurous day on Maui! Oh! A friend and I stayed on Maui for 8 days exploring all the island has to offer. Each night returning to the peace and serenity of Mangolani Inn was without parallel .
