was looking for tire chains for my Toyota pickup for an upcoming trip to Yosemite. Napa's price was at least $70 more than Auto Zone or O'Reilly. I asked if I would be able to return the chains if I did not take them out of the package, Napa said absolutely not, while Auto Zone and O'Reily both said that I would be able to return the chains with no problem if they were still in the original package. I had to get a new gas cap and wipers for my car and I went in and was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I was helped considering how busy they were. Gary was the one who helped me and he was super kind and speedy! The reason I give it 4/5 is because of the manager. Who was the only one not doing anything to help the guests or answer the phone. Purchased a battery for my truck 1 year ago. Last month it kept going dead. Had toyota check it and they said battrry was bad. It is u der warranty. Just took this morning and a guy comes out with what looked like a voltage meter and said the battery was good. I told him it was not. So he refused to honor their warranty so I told him to pound sand. Went up street to Auto zone who showed me on their diagnostic device that the battery was not fully charged and it showed that. Unfortunately Auto zone did not have my battery. We knew that before it was tested. The guy from auto zone knew he was not getti g a sale but still tested and SHOWED ME RESULTS. Napa sucks read more

Vince and Bob were over the top in customer service. Got in at the last minute, had a burnt out tail light on my F250. Came in bought three lights and a wrench set. Well the wrench set broke on the first try. Vince being A# in customer service immediately came to the locked door and reopened it for me. Let me use a wrench out of the tool box behind the counter and voided the sale on the broken wrench set. I gave him back the wrench when I was finished. I greatly thanked them both. As he was getting ready to lock the door again, a damsel in distress need help. Being the kind person he is, Vince let her in the store and helped her. Wow! You don't see this kind service anymore. Vince and his coworker are just down to earth good people. Great job guys. And great response on the faulty wrench. Prices are good and these two are there to serve the customer! Love it. I am a single woman in my 60's and left work earlier tonight in the rain in north east Carson. My wiper blade popped off when I turned them on. Knowing I'd have to drive home 45 minutes to Tahoe over the mountain, in the rain, I stopped at The first auto parts store I could find. Napa on Hwy 50. Called from the parking lot and asked, "if I bought blades could you put them on as mine has come off and I have to get home to Tahoe?". His response was "Not in a monsoon!" I thought he was kidding so I laughed and asked if he had a coat. No response. I said so "no, because it's raining?" No response. I said okay I guess I'll try another place. And he said good bye. REALLY??? Pouring down rain and you won't pop on a wiper blade? I almost bought them anyway to try myself but was too mad to give them the business. Made it to O'Reilly in south Carson where a VERY nice gentleman said yes, of course! Without knowing my story. Even offered to fill the washer fluid I had bought when he was done! I declined so he could get back to work but O'Reilly has all my business from now on!!! read more

I've been shopping here for years and every time I have to go in there I just sigh. I'd literally rather order things online and wait. Every employee (minus the guy with the red hat) are just rude. They always give the wrong part and then proceed to make you feel stupid until you drop the correct part in their face. Then they make some bs excuse why they suck. The guy with the red had, definitely the youngest there is the only guy that treats people with respect. So from now on I will do everything in my shops power to not give this place money. read more

My previous experience with this location was terrible, however, I needed brake pads, since Auto Zone only had the Rotors available. I was assisted by Tim, who found my correct pads quickly and had me out of the door in less than 5 minutes. I appreciate the quick and helpful service. I've shopped this store for nearly 10 years and have their phone number memorized I have used them so much. NAPA Auto Parts? Best quality you can buy. Prices? Higher than the Gardnerville Napa store, and usually the highest in town compared to the other three auto parts chains they compete with. (Don't even ask how their prices compare to major online parts sites with the same quality parts) Service in the Carson City Store? Questionable. In 2009 I was rebuilding a large pickup truck and made numerous visits. One time the counter man insisted that I did not need an o-ring for a Chrysler A/C pressure switch saying they did not typically seal that way. I was almost certain that I lost it during the repair process. Begrudgingly he got me the $1 o-ring and sent me on my way. Later I found the o-ring at home and confirmed it was needed. Why all the hassle? Another counterman on another day tried to tell me that the large, rear axle sockets (tools) with the sharp hex corners would not remove the nuts with the rounded hex corners. On a 2 5/8" nut, are you kidding me? They didn't have either one in-stock and the tool was found the same day at one of the other parts stores in town for about half the price. Lastly, I took a set of brake rotors in to be turned. I understand that they want to sell rotors and it's a best practice to replace rotors but these were not beyond spec. So I took them in and three different countermen commented they would not be turnable without measuring them! When I asked to measure them, they agreed they were still in spec (I had measured them with calipers at home prior to going in). When I spoke to the manager about this, he explained that inevitably some customers out of 500 transactions a day will not be happy and that's just the way it is! I get questioned a lot by these guys - luckily I know what I'm doing. I know that in many cases the countermen see all kinds of customers and probably do want to truly help but from what I seen they are overdoing or misapplying their advice. Why make it so stressful when the customer knows what they want or need? Should be easier for everyone that way! One time I admitted I was wrong when buying a serpentine belt there (I forgot the car had A/C) and the counterman just about soiled his shorts (that a customer admitted being wrong).... then processed the return seamlessly. I don't go to this store anymore - I shop the other parts stores or online due to price, service, and the fact that the other stores quality of parts is getting dramatically better as the years go on. I've spent probably well over a thousand dollars at this store since '92. Went in today to return a new unused Napa brand part which I bought last week while traveling. The new manager offered his cost, not what I actually paid for the part listed on my Napa receipt. Napa used to be the place to get great customer service and quality parts. Not only are most of their parts now made in China, but the service at this store sucks too. If you need parts I would recommend Amazon or Rock Auto websites. I will never do business at this store again. I hope loosing me as a customer was worth $5 read more

Walked in to this NAPA this morning. Every single person was behind the counter eating food or reading something. Not one of the five guys in there acknowledged me. Like at all. So I just stood there quietly waiting to be served. Some guy walks in the store 3 minutes later. One of the guys behind the counter in front of me looks up &I waves the guy behind me up to the counter. All the sudden all the clerks and this guy that showed up after me are shooting the shit. Talking about last nights dinner, beer, blah blah blah. I started to express my discontent. Finally I had to get right up on the counter and wave my hand in the guys face. He turns to me puts more peanuts in his mouth and doesn't say a word. I asked my question. He just shrugged his shoulders. I walked out before I started screaming and the guy. HORRIBLE customer service! My husband was working on a coworker's 1997 Impreza. He realized that they had received the wrong clutch kit (they ordered one online), so he runs down to O'Reilly's to see if they have one. Unfortunately they didn't, but the employee was nice enough to call Napa Auto Parts in Carson City to see if they had the correct kit. The older man on the phone said they did, and to come on down. My husband and coworker specifically asked what time they closed and were told in 45 min. They told him they were driving from Tahoe, which takes about 45 min, and asked if they would keep the doors open for them if they were a couple minutes late. The man on the phone said they would, and my husband told him they were on their way and would hurry. They arrived at the store THREE minutes late and the employee wouldn't let them in! He said no one ever called and to come back in the morning. The next morning, they drive down to Carson City again, but this time the parts guy wouldn't sell them the kit because he said it was special ordered for another customer. Are you kidding me??!!!! They specifically said they had it in stock and my husband could buy it the next morning. THREE HOURS of driving for NO reason. Worst store ever!!! read more

These people are so short with people. They act like you are inconveniencing them to to help you and do their job. Just called down there asked Bob for a crucial engine part. He spouted off a price and told me I'd have to come down to pay for it if he was to order it. He didn't ask what engine I had or anything. They always treat people like they are idiots.
