Devil Roll
Greg H.

This place just opened recently and it's really nice and convenient for when you want sushi after 10 PM. It seems like this city doesn't have many restaurants that want to stay open too late at least before the summer. The sushi menu is a little different from most places I've seen. I tried the devil roll and really liked the extra carrot garnish decoration in the middle. Everything was fresh and tasty. I would rate it on par with the better sushi bars you find at a grocery store chain. This isn't going to be Nobu and it isn't priced anywhere near a top tier Japanese restaurant like that either. It's strictly sushi rolls and hibachi plates only. No chirashi or tekkadon here. You'll need to step up to one of the countless more expensive Japanese restaurants if you want any of those more elaborate Japanese entrees.

Fantastic Food, Great Vibes, and an Experience Worth Repeating!…read more Susuru did not disappoint! From the flavorful food to the cool, laid-back atmosphere, everything about this experience was excellent. The food was absolutely delicious, packed with flavor, and clearly prepared with care. Every bite was a treat! The atmosphere was just as impressive, relaxed, inviting, and full of personality. It's the perfect spot to unwind, enjoy great food, and soak up some good vibes without feeling rushed. Overall, Susuru delivered the perfect combination of amazing food and a great atmosphere. Definitely a place worth visiting again and again! I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommend!

Service was great throughout my visit, and the staff were attentive. The Susuru Gohan was fantastic and definitely my favorite dish of the night. It comes with a soy-cured organic raw egg yolk, sweet aged soy, onion, Japanese seasoning, and steamed rice. I added both uni and ikura, and everything paired really well together. I would absolutely order this again! Their drinks and cocktail menu is very extensive and I chose the Ultraman drink, which was great. It's made with Haku vodka, lime juice, cinnamon chai syrup, grenadine, cran-apple, and ginger beer, topped with a dehydrated apple and normally a limited mini Ultraman toy. They were out of the toy when I went, so they offered a $2 discount, which I didn't mind at all. For yakitori, I tried the Hiza Nankotsu (knee cartilage). Their skewers are prepared in-house and grilled over Japanese binchōtan charcoal, then finished with aged tare and served with Susuru citrus salt. The knee cartilage was good and had a nice crunchy texture. I also tried the Mi-So-Hot ramen which comes with pork chashu, a shoyu soft-boiled egg, corn, scallions, chili hair, and spicy miso broth. It was just okay for me. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with it, but nothing really stood out either. With so many other options on the menu, I probably wouldn't order it again. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Susuru! The attentive service made solo dining at the bar comfortable, and the Susuru Gohan was easily the highlight of my meal. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked, especially the grilled items. The standout for me was the truffle seafood pasta, with the yuzu hamachi right alongside it. Both were exceptional and easily the highlights of the meal. The flavors were creative without being overdone, the seafood was fresh, and every dish felt thoughtfully prepared. I began the evening with one of their hot-tasting items, the Wagyu Gyoza. It was so nicely flavored, with great texture. This could either be a shareable item or enjoyed alone. We also ordered the Negima (chicken breast) and the Spicy Argentinian Red Shrimp. I would order both items again. The chicken was moist and the shrimp was spicier than I expected, but oh so good! For our main entrees, I ordered the Miso Black Cod, and my husband had the Kyoto Paitan Ramen. The Ramen was well-seasoned, and the Cod was delicately plated, with crisp capers that added a layer of flavor. The House Strawberry Lemonade was refreshing, and the Okinawa Breeze was lightly sweet and colorful. It will be one of the most memorable cocktails I've had because of its presentation and taste. We ended the night with the Woo Baby (Ube Cheesecake) and the Yuzu Delight (Yuzu Cheesecake). The yuzu was tart and the ube was light and creamy. Both are outstanding dessert options. The entire night flowed effortlessly, thanks to our server Miguel. He was so organized in his approach and was so kind and funny. His presence was greatly welcomed and appreciated. If you have any celebration coming up or just want a lovely evening out, this is the place.

It's near the parks but out of the way and hidden enough that unless you somehow discovered this gem, you'd have no idea it was there. I genuinely believe that's this places advantage, as there's minimal seating and a very intimate and kind environment. Staff can really focus on you, get to know you and spoil you to bits. We went during a Saturday lunch 12pm and it was mostly full but quiet and relaxing. Everyone was super kind and accommodating, and they even filled up my husband's water bottle for him with filtered water as she knew we were going back to the parks. Plus... there's a bidet in the bathroom if that's your style ~ Now as for what we ordered, we actually opted to try some al a cart favorites where you check what you would like with a pen. We got some fantastic Salmon and Tuna Nigiri and Rolls and adored their home made from scratch pan seared pot stickers, a must try!! Stop by if you love the best of the best for a great price! Make sure to keep this place as our secret, but not too secret hahah ;)

The restaurant was decorated for Halloween, but it still beautifully captured its signature mix of art, music, creativity, and energy. One of the biggest highlights for my kids was the live contortionist, who completely embodied the Halloween vibe with just the right amount of spookiness. Between that, the local artwork throughout the restaurant, artists painting live, and even a small jewelry station where you could watch pieces being created and purchase them, there was always something interesting happening around us. Ben, our server, and his trainee -- I believe her name was Crystal -- were phenomenal. Both were high-energy, personable, and added so much to the experience. Ben explained the small-plate concept perfectly, including how the food would arrive as it was ready and recommending about 2-3 plates per person for sharing. We took that advice seriously and practically ordered the menu. Between the chicken empanadas, chicken skewers, chicken egg rolls, dynamite shrimp, udon noodles, chorizo sliders, elote, mini hamburger sliders, kids chicken tenders, and fish tacos, everyone at the table found something they loved. Everything was flavorful, everyone was satisfied, and we were FULL by the end. The energy is high, the music is loud, and there is a lot happening -- but that is absolutely part of the experience. If you are looking for a quiet dinner, this may not be it. But if you want great food, incredible energy, art, entertainment, and a dining experience your family will actually talk about afterward, Café Tu Tu Tango is absolutely worth it. The atmosphere definitely makes the experience. There was live music while we were there, and I loved that they also have artwork throughout the restaurant that you can actually purchase. It gives the space so much personality and makes it feel different from your typical restaurant. Service was decent. It was pretty busy, so our server only checked on us a few times, but overall we still had a good experience. I'd definitely recommend Café Tu Tu Tango for a cute date night or as a fun pregame spot to grab food and drinks before going out!

I took a special cocktail that I forgot the name, but it was made with rice vodka. It was a sweet and fruity cocktail, and the booze feeling came afterwards. Pretty good for 16 bucks. The magical dining came with four courses. I wanted to try the seaweed salad for my first course, which was marinated nicely in soy sauce. It looked like noodles, but had a nice small crunch after every bite. My second course was nigiri sushi, which included salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. All of them were nice and fresh, and most of them melted in my mouth as well. Adding the house made soy sauce added the umami needed. The third course was the volcano roll, which was hemachi, bacon, jalapeno, and avocado in the bottom, with scallops and imitation crab on top. It was very enjoyable, especially the scallops and fish. The food was quite filling as well. Thankfully I still had room for dessert, and the ube flan was sinfully good. It tasted like an authentic flan with the ube fusion. It was better than the flan at some Mexican restaurants. The service was professional and more attentive than the last time I visited. It was pretty quick as well. The vibe still look chic and upscale. Definitely worthy of the three diamonds it got from AAA. Parking is still free and easy at the complex. Outdoor seating was available and has great views of the fountains. I am so happy that I finally got an excellent magical dining experience for 2026. I guess third time was the charm. Dragonfly had great quality of food and it was quite filling too. And it is still 40 dollars for magical dining, making this a great deal. This is definitely still a great upscale sushi restaurant in the Dr. Phillips area. Overall: A
