Sushiology is located in a strip mall off of International Drive

Sushiology, small spot in a strip mall. Touristy area. I had second thoughts as I pulled up in the parking lot. Sketchy exterior which matches the interior. Oh well, I felt very hungry and daring. Walked in and was greeted with a hello. Nothing fancy. Walked up to order at the counter. Grabbed a small table. Walked back up to pick up food. Food was good, not great. Ordered spicy Krab roll, kamikaze roll, spicy tuna poke, vegetable tempura appetizer, steamed gyoza and edamame. Partner enjoyed the gyoza, poke and kamikaze roll. Krab roll was just ok. The vegetable tempura was pretty good. This doesn't compare to a true Japanese restaurant but for "quick serve" it's decent enough. Drinks offered are canned soda, beer and bottled water. My only "complaint" is the solicitation of a tip when you pay with a credit card. Which is done when you order your food. Not much "service" considering there is no one to wait on you!

This place is small and casual. Only two employees in the restaurant and your food is cooked to order. Do not feel like I waited long at all. All of the fried foods were super hot and crunchy right from the oil. And all of the sushi tasted VERY fresh. If we lived here, I would be a weekly patron. It was that good! Will definitely be back whenever I'm in Orlando!

Ordered from here on Thanksgiving as my girlfriend & I were on vacation & craving sushi for dinner. When I called, the owner said he was closing up shortly early for Thanksgiving, but said he'd happily make our orders before closing, so he stayed open for us. He even offered me a free Coke on my way out & wished me a Happy Thanksgiving. Needless to say, the best customer service I have ever had. On top of all of that, the food was sensational, we especially enjoyed the Kamikaze roll. There's a part of me that wishes I lived in Orlando so I could give Sushiology more of my business. If you're ever in the area & want great food from a great establishment, this is the spot for you!

This place never fails! With Kuya Bob running the show and serving great food, you'll get way more than what you paid for.

Such a great little spot on idrive. I've been coming here for over ten years and it's stayed consistently good. It is small inside with probably about eight seats. However if you're in the area and you're looking for some sushi it's definitely a great stop. I've gotten their gigabyte a couple of times to split with a few friends. If you're looking for something new to try I would recommend trying their Takoyaki. They are a little hot when you first get them but it's certainly unique. All of the rolls are reasonably priced and the fish seems fresh. The service was fast and friendly. There were only two employees there the night I went One was taking orders and taking care of the restaurant the other one was rolling the sushi rolls and taking care of the food. It took about 15 minutes from ordering to get everything and my husband and I were both full and happy at the end.

Family food Adventure!!! Sushi Style!!! Everyone got different types of Japanese cuisine at this cozy establishment. I'll give you the highlights and could have been better's!!! The boy had seaweed salad and baby octopus - He loved them both, then had room for some sushi and got the tuna roll he also enjoyed it said it was Super Fresh tasting. The lil one had miso soup, white rice and an avocado roll w/cream cheese added - she enjoyed them all The eldest has the chicken teriyaki bowl and enjoyed it!!! The wifey had two types of Sushi: the California roll and the volcano roll - She lived them both and said she would get the Volcano roll every-time, it was that good!!! I got the Shrimp and crab tempura with rice - the tempura was a bit soggy as well as the crab. I don't think the oil was hot enough when it was cooked. At least my years of kitchen experience tells me that was most likely the challenge as it was good just not up to the normal tempura crunch I'm use to. We would definitely go again when in the area!!! Try it for yourself!!!

Sushiology is really good, after we order the food came out really fast. It's a little small. I wouldn't come here with a very large group. Perfect for a quick date or lunch.

Sushiology is simply a simple, down 2 Earth, homey, kind of place to eat some good "Mom" made types of food. The I-Drive location have been our "Go-To" for the past 20+ years, till we found this newly opened location, which is newer, spacious, cleaner than the other location. However, the tastes of the foods are still EXACTLY identical to the other place that we have always enjoyed. My favorite appetizer from here have always been their "Tofu Steak", which is a thick chunk of medium firmness tofu, coated in light corn starch, deep fried, then lathered in the sweetened soy sauce, YES!! Then of course, the usual Edamame, Sunomono (Seafood Salad), and tempura appetizers are also our usuals. Then onto the Sushi & Sashimi Combos can never go wrong, with an addition of a "Don" rice bowl dishes of the variety options to choose from are also a nice compliment to go with the sushi & sashimi selections. The staffs are nice, friendly, and efficient. The ambiance is quite spacious in comparison to the I-Drive location. And the pricings? Quite reasonable comparing to many other (Fake Japanese / Chinese owned) places. Glad we found this location, as we will be back many times to come!!

Highly recommend fast and delicious authentic Japanese restaurant! This is our family favorite restaurant . The food is always amazing and fast delivery to table . The price is reasonable , and the owner is super friendly . You can order many different kind of sushi roll or rice bowl . We love all of them, you can try each type on your visit to see which one are your favorite ones. You will love this place!

The place is not big, but the food is pretty good. I like the Eel California, the Una Don, and the Chicken Teriyaki Don. The sashimi and nigiri are also pretty fresh.

The Pacifica sushi platter... I am officially spoiled and cannot possibly order anything BUT this. Delicious.

Quality here is really great you wouldnt believe they offer real hokkaido uni and assortment of Japanese sushi white fish prepared so fresh. To top it off they remembered my reservation for my wife's bday and gave a free bday dessert with a candle on top. Service is excellent our server surprised us by knowing so much about great japanese dishes and how they should be prepared. The interior threw us off because it is so nicely designed and is in a plaza next door to a 4 guys we thought it was another tourist trap but I was glad to be so wrong about my initial impressions. Wish they had a restaurant just like this back home as they hit the spot and did more that just check the boxes on my scorecard. Would return if I was ever back in town in the future.

Ok that's fine, but then we were seated next to 2 girls who had a "service dog" in the restaurant that was actually barking because I thought it was just children(This is not a joke). Most of the rolls I ordered weren't filled with any fish(all California rolls dressed up as pricy rolls) just had slight fish on top and I had to specifically ask for the "classic sushi menu" as it was not offered. Would avoid. Naomi we both know that putting a vest on a normal dog doesn't make it a service dog

Judging by the line that had already formed 15 minutes before they even unlocked the doors, I wasn't the only one with that idea. The moment you walk in, it feels like you've stumbled into a tiny neighborhood izakaya in Tokyo. Paper lanterns, Japanese signs covering the walls, colorful vintage décor, wooden stools that politely remind you to finish eating instead of lingering for three hours--it all adds to the charm. It's casual, lively, and full of personality. The menu has plenty to explore, but I came for the yakitori. Since everything is ordered à la carte, I built my own assortment of skewers, and every single one was grilled beautifully over charcoal. The meats were juicy, the vegetables had that perfect smoky char, and the chimichurri-style dipping sauce they served alongside was something I found myself dipping absolutely everything into. Yes, ordering several skewers can add up faster than your Lightning Lane budget, but the quality absolutely justifies it. Sometimes simple food, done exceptionally well, is worth every penny. If you're near Disney and craving authentic Japanese comfort food instead of another theme park burger, put Susuru on your list. Just do yourself a favor and arrive early... unless standing in line is your favorite Disney ride. 5/5 - I'll happily be back for another round of skewers.

The beef ribs were mostly fat and still very tough to chew. The chicken was woody breast, making it dry and very difficult to eat. The rice was even worse. They replaced it three times. The first two batches were hard, and the third batch was actually undercooked. The service was by far the biggest disappointment. Even though ordering is done on an iPad, they still kept forgetting items. We had to remind the staff multiple times before the food finally arrived. Every dish took 10-15 minutes or longer to arrive, yet customers are expected to finish their meal within a 90-minute time limit. This is a Japanese BBQ restaurant where the staff is simply bringing out raw meat for customers to grill at the table. There is really no reason it should take 10-15 minutes to deliver each order. To make it even more frustrating, the restaurant wasn't even busy. During our entire meal, there were only two or three other tables occupied, so it's hard to understand why the service was so slow and disorganized. To make matters worse, an 18% service charge was automatically added to the bill. I don't mind paying a service charge for good service, but charging that much when the service is this slow and disappointing feels completely unjustified. Our bill was over $210 for three people, and that didn't even include any drinks. At that price, there are many better Japanese BBQ options available. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back, and I can't recommend this place.

This review is a bit overdue but the experience has last much longer than the time spent there!…read more (My apologies, no photos this time!) I sat at the bar since it was only myself dining but thankfully the All You Can Eat (AYCE) dinner still applies to that section. It was under $40 to receive the food in excess minus the drinks; drinks (even cocktails) were very affordable. My bartender Jonell was awesome with servicing me (I had the passionfruit flavored Tropical Long Island) and Laine was super sweet in checking in on me during my dining experience! Please ask for their service when you visit, best recommendations! For my first round, I had the Clam Soup, Aged Tofu, Harumaki, Green Mussels, and Eel & Octopus Roll; for specialty rolls I had the King Kai, Crunchy (hand), and Eel Cucumber roll. Acording to my receipt I also got a King Oyster Mushroom Tempura [roll]? While I don't remember ordering it, I do remember that was one of my favorites! Loved the clam soup and the green mussels! Second round included a favorite from staff which was the Yellowtail Jalapeno (I'm very glad to have ordered that one, spot on! Thanks Jenna!). I finally had enough and topped my wonderful meal with a fried cheesecake dessert inlcuded in the AYCE dinner. All in all, for under $50 party of 1, I wouldn't trade this experience for any tourist Florida dining experience. ^_^

She advised us that if any one wanted all-you-can-eat the entire table would have to order all-you-can-eat. We told her we didn't want all-you-can-eat and to bring us regular menus. Tranh returned and told us she didn't have enough regular menus for the entire table. We found that bizarre because the restaurant had just open and there was only one other group besides us at the time. We told her we would just have to share. While we looked over the menus, Tranh brought cups of water. I didn't see the flavored teas on the menu so I asked her about them. I was disappointed to learn that the flavored teas are no longer available. I loved the tea I had last time we visited and was looking forward to having another one this visit. While trying to decide what I wanted to drink, my friend ordered a Yama Coconut Heaven. When she received it, she offered us a taste. It was heavenly. I loved it so much I decided to order one as did another friend who also sampled the drink. The Yama Coconut Heaven had a great balance of the Bacardi Coconut Rum, Sake, Pineapple Juice, Coconut Puree and Champagne. To share, I ordered the Spicy Combo (Tuna, Salmon, and Yellowtail Sushi Rolls). For my entree, I selected the Steak Hibachi . The hibachi came with the choice of white or fried rice, miso or clear soup and a salad. I chose miso and substituted for brown rice. The food came out quickly. We had to shuffle items around to make space for the food. I was so full from the soup, salad, and some of the sushi rolls that I had to take the rest home. I did sample a piece of steak before packing the food in the to-go containers. The steak was satisfying good. It was tender, flavored well, and cooked perfectly. The leftovers reheated well. Some of my friends and I are already planning to return for sushi rolls and more of the Yama Coconut Heaven.

I've followed Chef Sean "Sonny" Nguyen from the beginning, and I honestly believe they serve some of the best ramen in Florida. I've recommended DOMU to countless friends over the years. Unfortunately, this isn't a review about the food. It's about how customers are treated. This past Friday, my wife, my two daughters, and I drove almost an hour to Dr. Phillips. We arrived at exactly 9:32 PM, almost 90 minutes before the posted 11:00 PM closing time, only to be greeted with a sign saying they were no longer accepting tables due to an extended waitlist. This wasn't the first time. It wasn't even the second or third. This is now the 4th or 5th time we've driven all the way there only to be turned away. What makes it even more frustrating is that the restaurant didn't appear to be overflowing with people. There were multiple empty tables visible inside, yet we were told they couldn't seat anyone else. At some point, this stops being bad luck and becomes a management problem. If demand is consistently exceeding capacity, then implement a reservation system or another predictable process. Customers shouldn't have to gamble on driving an hour with their family only to be told they can't eat. To be honest, it almost feels like maintaining an artificially long waitlist has become part of the restaurant's image. Whether that's true or not, that's certainly how it comes across after experiencing this repeatedly. Michelin recognition and great food can only take a restaurant so far. Hospitality is equally important, and repeatedly turning away loyal customers well before closing time is simply not acceptable. I sincerely hope Chef Sonny Nguyen sees this because I've supported DOMU for years and genuinely want them to succeed. But after being turned away for the fourth or fifth time, I can no longer recommend making a long drive unless you're willing to risk leaving hungry. Great food deserves great customer service. Right now, the customer experience isn't living up to the quality of the kitchen.
