I'm writing this in the hope that Nantucket will bring back some of the qualities that made them my favorite place to shop for years. BTM (before the move) they had a wide range of price points, styles and types of merchandise. You could get everything from books to soap to furniture. Now it's basically one style repeated in different variations. Plus the staff is terrible, I came in with my mother to look at floor coverings and no one greeted us or spoke to us as we struggled to flip carpets on our own - and that was typical of every time I've been in. So disappointed and all I can assume is that they must be doing gang busters on the phone and find the walk-in traffic annoying. I too have been treated poorly at the store. Having been dressed down but owning many homes in Chico I was sad to not be greeted with the kindness our town is known for. I wish them well, but they do judge a book by the cover and they should not as they do mark up their items far too much. I've thought about writing a review since Chico Preview night. I'm torn because I really like Nantucket Home. I've been going in a few times a year for a few years now. Each of my visits results in a sale; mostly their tabletop items, but it's always over a hundred dollars and often more. I too, have experience not being greeted when I walk into the store. But what makes me more upset is that most of the ladies have been there for a while - and they don't recognize me. I know they must see a bunch of people...but even if I reference something I've purchased in the past, I'm still treated like a stranger instead of a repeat customer. How about, "Oh, if you enjoy those come look over here to see some new things we just got in." Chico Preview night was their night to shine. Yeah I know...the crowds...and they probably think it's not a night people will actually shop. But, they could have warmed the crowd over by handing out cider right outside of their front door instead of in the back, next to a tiny tray of cookies. I actually do a little shopping that night, so I was excited to see they were handing out fliers at the front door. Maybe a discount for a purchase made that night? Nope. 15% off a purchase made online. Here's the thing: I life in Chico. Why would I order something online, that I could touch/see/smell and taste if I felt like it, and pay shipping just to save 15%. Fine if your margins don't allow for discounts (though, they do have pretty good mark-up and we all know furniture alone has a really hefty mark-up) so offer a 15% discount on a purchase of $50 or more. I always feel like I'm shopping in Sonoma instead of Chico when I'm there and it's kind of sad. Some of my favorite things I own came from that store but I cringe at the awkwardness every time I go there. One last note to the owners: Please don't hover over your staff at the counter when they're trying to complete a transaction. I know you've trained them well in the procedure of ringing up a sale. Twice now, including Preview night, an owner has stood right behind an employee invading her space and making us all uncomfortable. Just thank me for coming in, and let your staff do the work. The furniture is beautiful and VERY pricey. And like I noticed in previous reviews the service staff could stand improvement. During the downtown Christmas preview this place was beautifully decorated and we stood in line to look inside. No sooner than taking two steps inside I was literally grabbed by the shirtsleeve by a 50'ish Nazi salesclerk type and told in a LOUD snide voice to take my cup of apple cider OUTSIDE! This would not have been a problem except one of their own staff had pushed the "Styrofoam cup of death" into my hand at the door!! Embarrassed? Yes. Will I go back? NEVER. There is an old adage that applies here, "What goes around, comes around". Snobbery is not a virtue in today's economy ladies! read more

Over priced, over priced, over priced!!!! Every business has to make money to survive. There is, however, a time when savvy consumers become resentfull. It is typical, in most industries (not electronics) to double prices and sometimes adding just a bit more. When a business starts marking up items by 3 or 4 times what they paid, it is time to walk away. Nantucket has remained in business because they focus on the spouses on those earning very large incomes. It's unfortunate that many people in Chico feel the need to brag that they spent a fortune on their table or wicker filing cabinet that is easily available just about anywhere for a lot less. For those consumers, Nantucket serves a purpose. Actually, I bought a cabinet I saw at Nantucket for HUNDREDS of dollars less. Although I did not witness this behavior, I believe my fife's friend who said she was poorly dressed when she walked into Nantucket the first time. She had lost track of time and wanted to catch the bank, next to Nantucket before they closed. Although she was the only customer in the entire store, she was never greeted or approached. She said they glared at her to the point of making her uncomfortable. Store also empty on her second visit and she received immediate attentionrom a very pushy salesperson. This time, she wore her wedding ring and her designer jeans. This story just confirmed my feelings about this store, and hence this review. read more

I have to agree with some of the other reviews. Some of the items in the store are extremely overpriced for the quality, and the customer service is a little lacking. I was greeted promptly when I walked in on a Wednesday afternoon in June, but that was it. Since reading the poor reviews about the customer service, I decided to take this into my own hands and approach the sales lady with questions and get her more engaged. I entered the store in flip-flops, a T-shirt and jeans by the way. So it probably was pretty obvious that I wasn't going to buy anything. I think that they may have the wrong personality behind the counter at this store. They need to have somebody that's more engaging with the customers. After a few questions and breaking the ice the sales lady did ask me if I would care for a cup of water or coffee. That is a nice perk to offer your customers, but it almost felt awkward. I feel like if the woman would take the time to offer every customer a beverage as they entered, they would feel more welcome. The store isn't exactly flooded with people. I was the only one in there until a couple of ladies came in about 5 minutes later. Perhaps she's afraid she would be spending too much time making beverages , which is understandable. I will return to the store, because I love what they have here and it is well laid out. I definitely get a lot of decorating ideas from walking into the store. They offer rugs, linens, bedding custom furniture, clothing, soaps, table decor, coral, candles, etc. Update: I have had a few more opportunities to experience this store throughout the year (2016-17). This store is welcoming from the street! I love the outdoor room designs I see when I get out of my car. Lots of pretties to see before entering the store. Once inside the store, I love how it is all layed out, open and inviting. Great room settings and accessories to help me with ideas. I'm not a very good decorator, so their room settings are very helpful. I aso enjoy the smaller things like the accesories and the soaps, which are final touches! The store is open and airy feeling and very comfortable to shop in. The ladies there are also very nice and helpful! read more

I've never been sooooo MISLED...I don't know why this Co. Is still around. Or maybe it's just the employees and/or the store Mgr. in this particular store.....Hmmmm, but something has to be done. I will not give you my business nor will I ever shop there again ....it will be my first and last experienced. FYI----We Are Your Customers and We Make Up 99% of Your Income...Without Us you guys WON'T have jobs! So treat your customers RIGHT ! The ordering of their overly priced furniture has been a nightmare. If you want to receive your furniture any time soon don't order from this company. It takes weeks to get emails returned. The designers are either in a meeting or out to lunch. If you change your mind on anything after waiting months for it you will be charged 30 percent even though they are not restocking anything. I suggest you go somewhere else where the customer is important and the product is not so over priced and the staff is so uncaring read more

I think the people who own Nantucket Home need to decide whether they want to be in business or not. I called them several weeks ago to ask how their design service worked and did not get a hard answer. Their hours are intended for those who don't work and are very inconvenient. I went there yesterday (Sat on Memorial Day weekend) and it was closed even though Google showed them as open. When you walk through the store no one helps you and it is incredibly expensive. I prefer patronizing small businesses but in this case can find no reason to do so. Folks just because you are there it doesn't mean people will come. I think you need to up your game and think about your customers. read more

I ordered a small rug from them from a picture on their old website. When it arrived the colors were muted and earthy and not vibrant like the picture. It was wrapped in clear plastic so I was able to determine this without opening the package. So I sent it back as a "return to sender". That is when the trouble began. I found the staff very unfriendly and cold and unwilling to try and remedy this situation. Instead, they charged me 20.00 for return shipping and this was a small 2' by 4' rug. I had to call several times to just verify that they received item, and had to press to get refund. They then sent me the paperwork with the information that they had charged me $20 to return item. This item was ordered before their new website went up and there was no mention about charging for returns. Buyer beware....this is a store to avoid....they are unfriendly, haughty and mark up the merchandise. I could have ordered the rug from Rugs USA for a fraction of the cost that they charged. Do your research and go elsewhere. They will not be in business long with the way they treat their customers and the high mark ups they charge when they order from other companies. read more
