This place was a surprise from the norm ( it has good reviews online). Each day was a challenge for us, to eat in Northern Ireland/ Belfast (Pubs and bars were plenty) so it was not always kid friendly. Also, some establishments looked good but were not open for dinner and definitely not open past 9pm. That in itself was a challenge given our sightseeing itinerary and family of four. This place is tucked away on the upper floors of the popular Victoria Mall. Steps from City Hall and many trails, located alongside other restaurants in the mall. However, this was a one of a kind find. Peri Peri Chicken is what to order here! South African style chicken and spices make this place unique. The chicken, no matter platter style or in a sandwich, it was excellent. Moist, tender pieces of chicken, plenty of sides and drinks on the menu to compliment the meal. The sauces are great here, not that the chicken needs it but it's for those that want to add flavors or for dipping. The Peri Peri sauce is what makes them so popular. It's a South African hot pepper and made in sauce form. Packs some heat! Great compliment to all of the menu items offered. I would totally recommend this place. It's also casual dining so you don't have to worry that you look tourist-y. Hee hee Do be sure you order at the counter and they'll bring the rest to your table.

Chicken burger with pineapple YUM! Lemon Herb Spice and a side of chips

Easy delicious dinning. If you like chicken you should definitely try Nando's. I had the chicken burger with Pineapple. To play it safe, I stayed with the Lemon Herb seasoning and it had a peppery background, it was nice and flavorful. The bun was ok, but the chicken, cheese and pineapple really made the sandwich. Chips were decent, ketchup helps especially as they cool down. The office gents I went with had a variety of chicken choices from the boneless butterfly to 1/4 and 1/2 chickens. They all raved about the seasoning and then began to dare each other to try the sauces on the table. The one that caused an immediate reaction (Coughing, Running Noise and Watery Eyes) the one in the black bottle. Make sure you have food to chase it down, it may burn the throat :) in a good way. Service was very friendly and accommodating to our work group - 10 of us. The bill came out to be $203 USD, not bad for full plates and sodas for everyone. No one...NO ONE left hungry. I look forward to trying the boneless butterfly chicken with medium heat next time!

LOVE Nando's!! Haven't been since my student days and forgot how good it tasted. For anyone who has never experienced Nando's its basically just chicken, chicken and more chicken cooked in a variety of spice! It comes in platters of chicken wings, 1/2, 1/4 and full chicken breasts, burgers, wraps and pittas! You can also choose a side or two to go with it, my fav being spicy rice and peri peri chips! The most amazing thing about Nando's is their vast array of deliciously spicy sauces! I would recommend all of them especially the garlic and herb. Today i tried the lemon and herb which had a nice kick to it and i will definitely be using this when i go back! For anyone who is that little bit more daring with hot food try the XX hot sauce and you won't be disappointed! Service was great and the waitresses were pleasant and on hand to make sure everything was good with our meal!! Everyone should go and embrace the Nando's (thumbs up emoji)

The veggie options

Nando's is nice, just not really my cup of tea. They do offer a few veggie options and I recently lunched on their portobello mushroom and halloumi burger. It was good but I found the medium sauce even too spicy for my tastes. However the price is good, service efficiently pleasant and the Portuguese wine tasty so I will return. Next time I'll just investigate super mild sauces without the chilli kick. Spice fiends will love this place.

Although I quite enjoyed the food at Nandos, I think I may be getting too old for this kind of dining experience. We got off to a shaky start by not knowing the ropes. How was I supposed to know that you queue up, order and pay and then go and sit down and wait for your food?? The waiter explained this to us slowly in a 'dear God not another one' fashion. Noted for next time, which there probably will be now that I have got with the system. So we settled ourselves after that departure from traditional ordering and waited for the food. Not too long which gets a thumbs up as this isn't the sort of restaurant I would go to to spend the whole evening. I like to match my drinks with my food so I went mad and had a Portugese beer. Didn't order a second. Oh and for fellow Nandos virgins, Nandos serves Portugese food. It seemed only right to have the signature peri peri chicken and I liked it. Not loved it, liked it. The husband opted out of the sauce and cutlery gathering slot completely so I did that which I found a bit faffy. We had garlic bread and chips on the side, after I had actually laughed aloud at the very thought of paying £3.75 for corn on the cob. How amusing. I think the side orders and sauces would be where you need to be careful, especially if you take the whole family. A large portion of chips is £3.75 and extra peri peri sauce is 50p a shot so keep an eye on those things if you are budget conscious. Nandos defo has the novelty factor and there are burgers and wraps for anyone with an aversion to peri peri sauce. There were lots of over-excited noisy teenagers there when we went (Saturday tea time) but we didn't get too bent out of shape as we just wanted a casual bite to eat before the cinema. I will definitely give it another go.

This is a perfect place to go out in a big group. Lets get one thing straight at the beginning. This restaurant is by no means fine dining, it is cheap and good value. It is rather quirky which will have you wanting more. It mainly offer burgers and chicken. The chicken is its best dish and you can choose the degree of spice or heat you desire. It is the kind of place that you pay before you eat then the servers will deliver your food to you. I like eating here because you can enjoy your food knowing that you have paid for it whilst enjoying free drink refills. They have a club card which you can get stamped and sooner or later earn a free meal. Love this place

1/4 chicken with piri fries and coleslaw.

I've been wanting to try Nando's for a bit ever since a friend told me about it (they just happened to open a location in Chicago!). I got their hot-spiced Peri Peri chicken with a side of Peri fries and coleslaw. I really enjoyed the 1/4 chicken and the coleslaw (and I NEVER like coleslaw). I thought it was a really big portion for one person which I would never complain about! Even though it's a bit pricey (but what isn't in the UK?), I would go back.

Firstly I thought that on a Friday afternoon that the place would be rammed and I'd have to wait an age to get ripped in to those tiny, tender poultry pieces but I was wrong I walked in ordered at the bar and less than 15 minutes later I was presented with a wooden bowl of 33 glazed buffalo wings - all for £8.95! The price was good and the wings did live up to the hype but I wouldn't say they were earth shattering. There was just the right amount of glaze but the wings themselves lacked meat. Yesterday's visit to The Hudson reaffirmed how good the bar is in my eyes - it's such a jack of all trades - serves a whole host of different beers - I had the Sam Adams, something that you don't see too often in Belfast. It really is the perfect place to garb some wings and have a beer on a Friday afternoon.

I think KFC is the best because the chicken is absolutely delicious and as I write this my mouth is watering. Mc Donald's would come second as it is the best hangover cure I know but Burger King just seems to lack something. I just don't like it at all. It seems to have got itself caught so much on the 'burger' element that whereas McDonalds and KFC can elaborate their meals and show a bit of variety, Burger King seem restrained some what to all their meals coming out of the oven in a burger shape. In saying this though, anytime I pass it in the city centre it is always full of people who look more than happy with their food. Maybe you have to be either Mc Donald's or Burger King fan but can't be both. I recently called in to see if it had improved since the last time I was in and sadly it hadn't. The staff is nice and the place is well laid out and clean but this place really isn't my cup of tea/ or my burger

However I think you always end up spending more in Burger King than in McDonalds. However this individual restaurant is not much to sing on about. It has been there for years and is quite dated and a bit grotty. There are plenty of seats downstairs and upstairs. It is usually busy enough which I am glad about as other people uphold my Burger King superiority statement. This place is good if your in a rush but I wouldn't go planning any first dates here or anything.

The Signs outside are dilapidated and the interior is basic with all the space dedicated to the showcasing of the food on offer, but with seating space outside if you want it ( that is fortunately covered to hide you from Belfast's real "charms") this isn't an issue. What matters here is the food, and oh mama is it good! The sandwiches are all freshly made on site with fine local ingredients. There are a wide range of choices, whilst you can order up anything you would want just by asking. The man who runs the shop is a chatty and friendly person who is one of these people who seems to know everyone around town!He also knows what I want usually before I say anything which is probably a poor reflection on me.... but I can't help loving their white rolls with chicken, ham, stuffing and cranberry sauce, it is like Christmas in a sandwich! There are a changing variety of daily soups and stews, and other options like mini frys and sodas to appease those who want something a little different. Everything is reasonably priced too, which is another bonus. I personally loathe the "sandwiches" at subway with their mediocre bread, processed fillings and scandalous prices, and I wish people would abandon them for places like this which have quality food at a price that doesn't stretch the pockets!

Sarnies, good name by the way (i'm a fan of it, I don't know why but there is something quaint and local about it) is situated just off Royal Avenue so it's perfect for the lunch time shopper and or tourist. When I landed down I had a meatball sub which I'm not too sure if they do now as I didn't see it last time on the menu. The meatballs were lightly spiced in a rich silky marinara sauce, loaded with sticky cheese on a submarine roll. All that for under £3 cannot be beaten. Check it out.
