Right so i'm never ever going to get to the real Monte Carlo like in the James Bond films. And I'm guessing there probably aren't that many fish and chip shops there. So the name is not hugely appropriate, unless there is a big fishing industry I am unaware of. However, the name aside, the food is magnificent. It is a takeaway so your expectations are immediately lowered when it comes to decent food, but this place does some of the finest fish and chips I've stumbled across in Belfast. The staff are very pleasant, the food is prepared in front of you so you don't feel suspicious when they hand you a big bag of 'food' as you do wtih certain takeaways (for which I will keep to myself or risk a court hearing) I cannot fault the fish and chips and at £6 its definately worth it. Only down side is that despite it being a varied menu, some of the other food is not up to the same level which is disappointing, but when a plaice (geddit?!...) does fish this good, you don't need any other food.

Monte Carlo might be the death of me. I called in here, after a friend from university suggested it to me and little does he know that he's the reason for my impending coronary. The food here is fried to perfection, the chicken goujons in particular are incredible. Their portion sizes are also out of this world. For a curry chip that could very well feed a small island nation, it will cost only around £3. There's also a delivery service (additional £2 on top of order) from 5 - 10 for those to lazy to make the walk. Usually people have something from the fish and chip shop as a cheeky treat once a week, and if this is what you do, then get the best in Belfast and go here! wow, I need to calm down....it's just a chippie!

Monte Carlo is a fantastic Chippie on the Lisburn Road. It's right at the top of Ashley Avenue so it's hugely popular with students. The prices are fantastic, ranging from £3 for chip dishes and £6 for yummy Fish and Chips! The best thing? The sheer quality of the food! I've been here loads and never have the standards slipped. The restaurant itself is really clean too so there's no worries about dodgy goings on here! A must go to if you're a fish and chips fan as they really are great! A favourite haunt of mine after a trip to Ryans across the road!

I've tried quite a few fish and chips and this is my particular favourite around the Lisburn Road.

I visited this McDonalds twice during my trip in Northern Ireland, once for a late night snack and…read moreonce for an early breakfast. There are kiosks to order if you do not want to wait in line to order with a cashier. I noticed there were a lot of young adults at this location, and that it was busy during both times I went. Service seems fast despite having a lot of customers inside. What I tried: -Terry's Chocolate Orange Pie is delicious. We don't have that in the United States. The pie is hot and crispy on the outside, and has a semi-sweet chocolate filling, similar to a pudding consistency, with an orange flavor. The overall taste of the pie is light, and not strong or too artificial tasting in either chocolate or orange. -Hamburger: The hamburger is very small and flat compared to the US, but tastes similar, just slightly healthier. -Cheese bites: Also a non-US item. These are tiny mozzarella and emmental balls in a smoky caramelized onion flavored breadcrumb coating. I thought the cheese would be gooey but it was somewhat solid (but warm). It's served with BBQ Dip. -Mini Hash Browns: Got this in the 15 piece instead of the 5 piece. I counted as I ate and there were 13 in there (oh well). I prefer the minis to the flat hash browns (we don't have the mini version in the US). The mini hash browns are crispy and perfect to pop in your mouth. -Sausage & Egg McMuffin: It was okay. The muffin top and bottom are very thin and the sandwich flavor isn't as salty compared to the US. -Breakfast Wrap with Brown Sauce: This is like a McMuffin but in a wrap. I prefer this since it's more filling as it comes with bacon and potato rosti (hashbrown) too. Brown sauce is hard to describe for me. It's not like a BBQ sauce, so it's not smokey or tangy, it's more spiced, sweet, tamarind-y, vinegary, like a cross of ketchup and Worchestshire sauce. The music was blasting at 8 a.m. so that's one way to wake yourself up. I went up to the second floor to eat. There's barstool seating along some windows, as well as grouped sit-down seating. Both the first and second floors were generally clean.

Elements came out on the nearby search and the rating results so it was a no brainer. After ordering over the phone we headed straight over and guess what? It was ready for us. I was impressed with the clean interior of the takeaway and I liked the way you could see in to the kitchen. Also there was a comical sign on the window saying, 'Don't stand on the sofa or knock the window' - not sure what's gone on in the past but it was pretty quiet this evening. We ordered a salted chilli chicken dish with 2 sides and it was absolute perfection. Filling and flavoursome. The price wasn't too bad either. £9.20 for all this! I was impressed.

There's a huge selection of offers in terms of meals for 2/3 etc which really do give your superb value for money and if theres something on the set list you'd like to change, they are always happy to do so. I love this place a little to much.

Incidentally I didn't have pizza and didn't hear any jazz - no sign of bleeding gums anywhere! Ended up being a great place to meet. Really handy from GV Station and the City centre. Coffee was pretty good too. I went for a filter coffee and my pal opted for a fanta orange. There was even some free wifi to use. They were cooking up a storm in the kitchen and the pizza's smelt delicious, unfortunately I had to rush off to another meeting. The staff were great - let us have a table even though we weren't eating - I'll definitely have to go back to try the grub and I noticed they had beers on tap too. Great place for a pre theatre meal and a few beverages! Who knows I might get to try their offerings at the Pizza-Off!

Staff was very attentive throughout the night and even though we were not paying customers (I mean we only paid for a couple of drinks) they were really helpful providing great service. Also, their entry to the pizza off was a really nice one, not my absolute favourite but I would be a happy customer if I ordered that one - and I'm a bit fussy about my pizza ;) Overall, I am happy to get to know this wee place and definitely will be back to try their menu.
