Located slightly out of the way but still pretty close to Belfast city centre Thai Village is worth a visit if you are after reasonably priced yet tasty Thai food. As you walk in the ambiance is definitely there - intricate design, carved 'painting' which is not really a painting, it's all carved out of the wood definitely make an impression. The food itself also doesn't let down - very tasty and decent size of the portions. Did take out and they were very good I would go back. The meat was very tasty we enjoyed it.

We had gone to this place for a team dinner. The ambiance is very classy and authentic. I ordered a hot and spicy shrimp soup. And remember when they say it's spicy it's actually spicy!! I made the mistake of asking it to be even more and I am burning even now! But it was really good! The pork dumplings was not that great! For desserts we had the thai pancake which was like crepes with coconut stuffing and it was okay! The people at restaurant were really nice and took good care of your ask. read more

The waitress was having a "wee clumsy day". And the chef seemed to be experimenting with his menu, by sending a normally hot meal out cold. But apart from the one cold meal they sent to our table, and quickly replaced when I brought the fact to their attention, I'm seriously not going to grumble. Great food. I mean GREAT food. I had to wait a bit too long between meals though. But do you know when you wait for something you really REALLY want, so each second feels like a minute? One of very few Thai restaurants to be found in Belfast, Thai Village is positioned perfectly on the Dublin Road amid the hustle and bustle of studentville. The interior is what you kinda get in most Asian places and the staff were really friendly and efficient, which is definitely important! I adore Thai green curry so as a safe bet I went for my usual and I must say I was pleasantly pleased. The curry was up there with the best and the house wine I got to go with it was great too! The priced here are pretty average for Belfast so it won't break the bank for a good filling meal. A great stop to make on a night out or on a visit to the cinema! What's great about quartering off cities is that it's brought the brilliant Cathedral Quarter to Belfast. What's bad is you tend to forget the amazing places already on your doorstep that are not within such quarters. Thus it is with Thai Village restaurant on the Dublin Road - I simply forgot about it. I dined here last night for the first time in about 6 years! I loved it back then and I don't know why it's taken me so long to return - I guess Belfast just has so many new restaurants nowadays that I forgot some of the older ones already in existence. The menu is extensive with a whole vegetarian section. We ordered starters of deep fried bean curd and vegetable tempura with sweet chilli and peanut dipping sauce. Mains were vegetable green Thai curry, jungle curry, mushroom salad and steamed rice. The food and wine (Pinot Grigio) was fabulous, as was the service from the beautifully Thai-dressed waiting staff. Even though we were full we had to sample some dessert and opted for Thai pancakes stuffed with coconut, coated in honey and sesame seeds, served with ice cream. We cleared our plates! I will be returning soon and I picked up the takeaway menu - this restaurant is fantastic. read more

One of the greatest things about Belfast is the huge variety of restaurants to choose from. The Thai village is one of the few bona fide places true to what it's trying to promote. A friend and I had decided to go here for lunch because we had gotten into town a little early for a movie we were going to see. I know the basics of Thai food but I'm no expert, so to go to the Thai Village and enjoy some really authentic food. Deciding to move away from my usual Thai Green Curry, I ordered the Laab Gai. This was phenomenal! Just the perfect mix of spices, the chicken was perfectly tender. Judging by the standard of their lunches, I need to get back for a proper night in a great place. read more

Thai Village is a little authentic gem of a restaurant in quite a nice part of the town. I adore all (what we Westerners would refer to as) South East Asian food, but Thai in particular. The dishes you would usually associate with Thailand (pad thai, mussaman curries, the awesome tom yum gai) are all on the menu here, as well as a few unusual suspects. Their duck red curry is truly fantastic. Give this place a try. Their food is, as I said earlier, authentic and well priced. You'll feel very relaxed in the restaurant and the service can't be faulted. One of my favourites. read more

Bright, clean, complex flavors. The green curry is what's up. They use what appears to be a mix of vegetable broth and coconut milk, so the sauce is both rich and light. They served me a gin and tonic with lemon (instead of lime), and I'm a convert. Smoother gins and lemon mix really nicely. The servings are smaller than what I'm used to in the States, but it's nice to walk rather than roll out of a restaurant. The ambiance is old-school American Thai but the food is authentic. They don't ask what spice level you want, and the one they go with appears to be about a 2.5. I would ask for spicy next time. The service was actually really stellar -- they had three servers for four occupied tables and were quick and warm. read more

Thai food is one thing I would cook from time to time at home but I'm usually unlikely to go out too often for it, possibly due to the lack of decent Thai restaurants in Belfast. Since moving to the city centre I often walked past this little place wondering what eastern treats were on offer. I called in with my girlfriend a few weeks back to check it out. The layout is atypical of the traditional, slightly dated Asian restaurant you find across Northern Ireland. We were greeted by very friendly staff on the way in though and shown to our table. The menu is an interesting mix of a variety of hot Thai curries, salad dishes, dryer, hotter dishes served with potatoes (similar in fashion to those found in Pakistan and India) and a handful of noodle dishes. I opted for a sweet duck curry, Keang Pad. Large chunks of crispy skinned duck breasts swimming in a creamy tangerine broth. The flavour was fantastically deep and rich. Tangy astringent heat from the fresh chilli mellowed by a mouthful of sweet and sugary coconut cream. Heaps of Thai basil floating through the palette lift the whole dish, giving it that fresh, aniseed twist to an already well spiced sauce. A bottled of Singha lager cut through the heat and cream and, although not the most interesting beer in the world certainly complimented things with some proficiency. Now the meal wasn't the cheapest I've had. Asian restaurants in the area face stiff competition as the numbers are huge but that said you won't be disappointed here. read more

After a long day of sightseeing, we just wanted good food close by. What a treat! Exceptional service, fantastic food! We had the pre fixe meal with appetizer and entree. Everything was superb! If I could have, I would have licked my plate, but the portion size was too generous. We got there around 7pm and it was quiet, but was busy by the time we left. Definitely a 5! read more

My partner and I ate here last night. I would recommend it to anyone in Belfast looking for a great Thai meal. I went for the red duck curry and my partner went for the green chicken curry. We both had starters that were very large, I was in shock when the bill came to less than fourty pounds, as I would have quite happily paid double that for food of this quality. read more
