Welcome to the authentic thai restaurant in belfast. All the food here reminds me of the thai food…read morei have had when i visited Thailand. The golden elephant is truly amazing for keeping up the taste in western countries and even the minced pork was super spicy definitely not white level of spicyness. The coconut rice is very sweet in my opinion so i guess it used a lot of coconut milk instead of oil but not my kind of favourite for coconut milk. The monk fish and the charcoal beef are defiitely something you should get so dont miss them. The pad thai was okay kinda bland would probably need more flavour for asian taste. The coconut soup woahh get this dont miss it please. This is healthy soup and if youre sick you should definitely order this. The crispy duck is my favourite food for the dinner. The crispyness was just super tender in my mouth. Until now i cant move on from the cryspy duck!!! This is very recommended and i would come back again in the future. Cheers!

Really lovely Thai food with good range of vegetarian and tofu dishes. Large portions which…read morecompensate for Golden Elephant being a little bit more expensive than some other Thai restaurants in Belfast. Vegetable Massaman Curry and Tofu in Hot Sweet Chilli Sauce were delicious, as were the Vegetable Spring Rolls with Plum Sauce. You will need to ensure you ask for food to be cooked without fish sauce if you are vegetarian. Great for a casual dinner. As restaurant was very brightly lit and had a couple of noisy family birthday groups when we visited - wouldn't be good for a quiet, chilled, relaxed meal due to noise levels and glaring brightness - but still is a nice spot.

I'll tell you what, the food here is superb. It's been some time since I ordered from here but I am…read moreso fed up with poor quality, lousy tasting, overpriced Chinese takeaway food I returned here and I was not disappointed. I got a vegetarian red curry here and a portion of Thai crackers. The curry portion was generous and the vegetables, including red pepper, peas and carrots were fresh and tasty. I particularly enjoy the tofu and potato. The Thai crackers (£1.5) are far better than Chinese crackers too even though Chinese takeaway tend to provide free crackers with main meal orders. I've also enjoyed hot spicy curries for years, and maybe it's an age thing, but I find their vegetarian curry to be very hot, maybe it's just me and an age thing but I now add a teaspoon of sugar to their curry to help balance the spice - it works up to a point. They have a notice up advising no variation to dishes - perhaps this is to keep their food authentic or maybe to prevent cheaper ingredients being substituted for more expensive ones. The coconut rice too (£2.5) is really flavoursome. In an earlier review of this place I'd noted that the additional food cost of this takeaway tested against main dishes from local Chinese takeaways might harm business. The fact is that while this remains the case, Chinese takeaway prices have since increased, but poor quality, poor tasting Chinese food is still endemic here and the quality and fresh taste of this Thai food is very far ahead by any measure and worth the extra cost and I'll stick with them.

The food here is amazing, very authentic. We love Thailand and thai food, we visited lastweek and…read moreit was so good we drove the 20 miles from our home to have our sunday dinner here. The place is advertised as thai street food and it is geared towards being a takeaway, it has some seats inside but the food is still served in takeaway style containers, this is not a bad thing though, we both ordered a starter and mains but the portions were so large i skipped the started and just had the main and took the started home withe me. I had the coconut and chicken soup starter and the thai green curry, both were very good and we will definitely be back. My wish would be that they open a restaurant, its a bit of a journey for us and it would be nice to sit in a more relaxed environment. My only negative point is that the female at the counter did not know the menu and could not give advice, the male was much more friendly though.
