If you're looking for a nail salon, I would recommend Jenny Nails in the plaza behind this salon or Pamper Nail Bar on Whittlesey instead. I came in for a simple acrylic removal and, before the service even started, I clearly explained that I did not want to soak my nails in acetone and that I wanted to preserve the length and health of my natural nails. If that wasn't a service they could provide, I wish they had been honest from the beginning so I could have gone somewhere else. Instead, the nail technician immediately began aggressively filing my nails with the e-file on a very high speed while speaking about me in Vietnamese throughout the service. Then the owner/manager came over and insisted that keeping my natural nails wasn't possible without soaking them in acetone. That's simply not true. I've had acrylics removed this way many times before. It takes more patience, but it absolutely can be done. If your salon isn't willing or able to perform the service I requested, tell the customer before you start removing layers of their natural nails--not after the damage has already been done. For the technician and manager: acrylic nails can be removed without acetone using careful filing, warm soapy water, cuticle oil, and patience. The key is gentle filing to avoid thinning or damaging the natural nail. Gentle filing--not immediately turning the e-file to its highest speed and aggressively filing away at someone's natural nails. I left disappointed, frustrated, and with thinner nails than I specifically asked to avoid. I won't be returning.

They even used tweezers to stray hairs that remained after waxing! The waxing room looks funny, with storage boxes and home bedsheets on the wax table (bed). But you can see they try their best. And the results are the best I have had! They offer $23 lash extensions, but I honestly, I think that getting individual lashes placed at a high end salon would be worth it since they would look more natural, around $150. I'm usually very nervous about doing anything with my hair because it's always been my safe place…read more-- but I went to Lani at Salon 501 and she completely understood me! I asked for lots of layers and curtain bangs, and she delivered perfectly. Not only did she give me the best haircut and style (and the most relaxing head wash ever!), but she made me feel so comfortable. Talking with her was like chatting with a therapist -- we connected about our husbands being in the military and the challenges of moving and finding a home, and she just got it. Lani is amazing at what she does and also such a wonderful person. I will definitely be a regular client!
