I asked for lots of layers and curtain bangs, and she delivered perfectly. Not only did she give me the best haircut and style (and the most relaxing head wash ever!), but she made me feel so comfortable. Talking with her was like chatting with a therapist -- we connected about our husbands being in the military and the challenges of moving and finding a home, and she just got it. Kanani is the most amazing hairstylist I've ever had! I have had some horror stories from previous stylists. I went in for a consultation to discuss what type of coloring I was wanting for my hair. She was so straight forward with me about my hair, what's going to be do able and not do able, and ways to maintain my hair! I had my appointment today and walked out glowing! The appointment had gone so well! My hair looks amazing and feels GREAT! I even let her cut it, which I was so nervous about due to someone chopping my hair off, and it fit perfectly and wasn't more than what I was comfortable with. First I have to say this place is amazing, and it's where I'll be going from now on. The entire process was amazing, let's start from the beginning. Making the appointment was so easy on their website, they really care about what services you want. When I arrived the front desk lady was so sweet and pleasant and it was a great feeling, nothing felt rushed either. Sadie did my hair and she did wonderful, this entire salon and stylist are fantastic. Nothing felt rushed, no one seemed to be in a hurry. She also put just the right amount of product in my hair this is the first time I didn't wash my hair as soon as I got my hair done cause it felt greasy and just gross. It doesn't seem like they are just trying to get customers and trying to get the hair done super quick they really took their time. Prices to me seem very reasonable, and I'll definitely be booking my next hair appointment here. read more

There was an opening for an earlier time and she called me again to ask if I would like to take it. Of course I did. Rachel was my stylist. I came in with hair down to my lower back and she asked what I'd like to do. I wanted to cut it all off. She was very excited and sweet the entire time. I recently moved to Columbus from Orange County California and was not looking forward to the daunting task of finding a new hairdresser. I Yelp searched and Google searched for salons, and honestly didn't find much that looked appealing and I was beginning to get a bit disheartened. Then my friend told me about 501 Salon Experience and highly recommend Chalet. So I called to book an appointment with Chalet but she was booked the entire week (which shows me that she has a lot of return customers). I ended up booking with Emily, as my hair was in dire need of a cut, and I am so happy that Emily was available! I was 15 minutes late to my appointment :( so I called ahead of time to inform the receptionist, and she was so kind and understanding and told me to still come by as Emily was still open. The storefront is clean and organized, and has that high end salon experience feel without the high price tags. I love the natural decor and the local natural products they offer. A beverage was offered to me the moment I walked in (choices of fresh brewed coffee or Tazo tea or cold bottled water). Emily is a gem and extremely talented. She asked me if I had any concerns regarding my hair and what I was looking for in cut and style. Next we headed over to the wash stations and she gave me a heavenly head massage while she shampooed and conditioned my hair. I just needed a trim with some layers added (nothing special), but she gave me her full attention and even styled my long locks. Emily is so easy to converse with and has such a sweet personality. She seemed genuinely interested in who I was and wasn't shy to share her story either. We didn't have any of those awkward silences that so often come along with being new at a salon, and if there was silence it was because I was so enjoying the spa like experience. 501 Salon is the nicest salon in Columbus! This place brings a fresh, trendy, and hipster vibe to Uptown and I love it! It's spacious, well lit and has a calming atmosphere. I had a cut with Amy and she is fantastic! She is insanely friendly, and fun to talk to. Most importantly, she gave me a really beautiful cut. My request was simple - do away with split ends, add more layers, and add a deeper side bang. Amy expertly cut my hair, putting layers to enhance my existing ombré color. I loved it - ranks in the top 2 best cuts that I've ever had. She also gave me a eyebrow wax and it was perfect. As a out of town customer, I am impressed by this salon's ability to schedule quickly. Their booking system is very organized and they follow through immediately after phone appointment- sending me a text to remind me of the appointment. When I entered I was greeted very immediately, offered a choice of beverage. I didn't feel like I was from Alaska! I felt like a local. My stylist Rachel was really sweet- she's like a southern comfort feel. Our consultation was smooth then she sent me to shampoo station which was heavenly. I couldn't really get up proper after because the scalp massage which is included was really through! Rachel had her assistant stylist aid with blow drying process (I have long and somewhat thick hair) which helped us stay on schedule. My hair turned out the exactly way I wanted from the pictures. I gave Rachel two different picture and asked her to "blend" both of them together. She achieved that! If you aren't paying her $100k a year Mr Paul Mitchell will certainly snatch her up to head customer relations and give out Fly AF haircuts. She has never done we wrong with any haircut I have in 3yrs. She has an amazing ability to read your mind, hear your thoughts and use her experience to give you a haircut of your dreams! She is always my last stop before I go globetrotting around the world to handle important business meetings and keep world peace. One might say she is the reason we aren't at war with Canada. While giving me a haircut the President of USA called to congratulate her on preventing Word War 3, she put him on hold to continue to give me a haircut. It is worth driving 45 minutes to 501 because it means I will undoubtedly leave with great hair and an opportunity to enjoy the city of Columbus for a few hours. For a very reasonable price, Bleu does a great job with my unruly and unpredictable hair, and I have never left disappointed. I am always looking for advice on how to maintain it, and she certainly helps with that, while explaining everything that she is doing throughout the process. Especially since I always go in with uncertainty of what I want done, I am certainly appreciative of her guidance. I don't feel pressured to buy any of the product which is a nice experience; I do have to catch myself though because I could see myself splurging all too often. After looking through all the Yelp reviews of salons I decided to go to 501. Sometimes you just get a feeling about where to go and I'm so glad I followed my intuition. From the moment we walked in we felt welcome. We were greeted warmly and offered something to drink by a very friendly and cute young lady. By the way the latte was very good! We didn't wait long at all and for me that's a big deal. It shows that they care about your time. My daughter and I both had our hair cut, hers by Kanani and my stylist was Megan. What are the chances both of us would be delighted with our cuts? But yes we were so happy that we got exactly what we wanted! I showed Megan a few pictures of the style I wanted and she went right to work. I am always a little worried when trying someone new which is probably very normal but Megan didn't disappoint. She's a pro and very good at what she does. I highly recommend her. She's friendly and has a very warm personality. My daughters cut by Kanani was done perfectly. Love love love this place! I was scared after recently moving here that I would never find a place as good as I had back home, but I really lucked out! Thankfully I was directed by some friends to 501 Salon and I was definitely not disappointed. Made an appointment with Rachel and she turned my brassy, ombre-ragged, over grown hair into something beautiful! (Check out the 501 Instagram feed for their work). Spent a whole 5 hours there and Rachel made me feel very comfortable. They even have a coffee bar and treats for clients! The decor is so fun and the ideal Joanna Gaines-eque type place. I called on Thursday, was able to make an appointment on Friday. I had the pleasure of working with "Bleu" today. She was so easy to get along with, she listened to me, we discussed ideas. She took her time and we got it done. Blue gave me Pinterest worthy hair and I couldn't be more pleased. Cut/color/blow dry all awesome. Oh! And I got a parking ticket because y'all know that takes more than 2 hours and they tagged me at 2hr 3min.... insert eye roll. My daughter and I recently moved here and one knows how difficult it is to find a good hair stylist. Well this place is nice but way over priced. They told my daughter her all over color would be 80.00 - then charged us 120.00. I brought my color mixture with me and my old stylist foiled my whole head, did my roots, trimmed my hair and styled for $115 (btw he was one of the best stylist I've ever had). My bill was 145.00. The stylist there did my roots, did about 5 or 6 foils on the top of my hair, trim and blow dried (about 6 minutes). My daughters hair is already fading and it's only been 2 weeks.
