I had an appointment set for two pedicures @ 9:30. The salon set a confirmation text for the date and time of the appointment. When we arrived at the salon the owner told me my appointment was at 10:00. We waited the 30 minutes and finally left after being ignored the entire time. At no point was there an apology for wasting our time. I would not even give this establishment one star but Yelp requires you to do so to post a review. read more

I was in town for a few days and I wanted to get a pedicure. I was already downtown so I just looked around to see what types of businesses were in the area. I saw that Soyoung Salon and Spa was open so I decided to go there. When I went inside, I was taken straight back. The nail salon is in an intimate alcove in the back of the building. The attention to detail was amazing and I left feeling great about my pedicure and the experience. Regarding JACKIE the new nail technician: LICENSED! Great massage. Great sugar scrub. Awesome service. Beautiful Nails. Quality time spent performing services on clients. Not rushed like most nail shops. Very clean. Every instrument is disinfected and sterilized after every client. A new, sealed pedicure pack for every client, meaning a brand new file, buffer, wood stick, and toe separators for EVERY SINGLE CLIENT. Metal implements are removed from the sterilizer in front of the client. Products (such as sugar scrubs, buffers, pumice stone, toe separators, etc.) are given to, or discarded in front of, the client if contamination has occurred and the item can not be disinfected. This includes the entire pedi pack which has a brand new pumice stone. read more

Wax & Massage Fantastic!! I called and book an appt the same day, Friday. The esthetician, Amber, was sooo amazing. I got a Brazilian & full leg wax. She did beautiful work! She's very friendly with great humor, much needed when getting waxed. She's honest about what your body needs or doesn't need. She even handed me a mirror to check everything out, that's honest work. Definitely get waxed by her, there was very little pain, like the least amount possible when getting waxed. She's bomb :) Katelyn, the masseuse, was so amazing as well. I received a deep tissue massage. It was so incredible and relaxing. I'll definitely be coming back while I'm here for training. Tip: if you're in town for jump school, definitely come get a massage!! The environment is nice and everyone is very friendly. read more

For years I've had issues with hairdressers thinking they know what to do with my hair and how to do it.I would tell Them what I would want and how I would want it, they would give me their opinion and I would ask them to cut it the way I'm asking for. But noooooo instead of doing what I asked for they do what they want! After my favorite hairdresser moved back to Panama I spent 4 years trying to find someone to do as I ask / knowing how. . Finally I found Soyoung! . She is everything you need in a hairdresser. She will listen to what you want offer her advice and is OK if you do not take it. As a newbie to Georgia it was hard searching and trusting a new hair stylist but I am completely satisfied with my final coloring result. From the start everyone is welcoming and attentive. Brittany was my stylist, she explained the coloring process and gave tips regarding my dry hair. If I lived in this area, I would never go anywhere else. I've been traveling a lot lately and hadn't been able to do my normal grooming habits, so when I unexpectedly had the afternoon free, I searched for a one-stop-shop to get the essentials: mani/pedi and wax. This place was perfect. Amber did my waxing - underarms, legs, and eyebrows. My underarms are always a little sensitive, but it was honestly the absolute MOST GENTLE waxing I've ever ever had. Ever. I was stunned. She was so gentle and so good that if I was here a couple of more days, I would have absolutely trusted her 100% to do my bikini wax without a doubt. Then she did my eyebrows and I swear they've never looked better. I could not stop raving about how impressed I was. She is the absolute best ever and if you've never done waxing before, she is definitely the girl you want to see to try it out because she makes it so comfortable. My only suggestion is that she put a little bit more into making the room comfortable. Everything is very bare bones minimum, which isn't bad altogether, but again - especially for new clients - a calming atmosphere can go a long way. Nikki did my nails and she was very very kind, charming, and really attentive to her work. She was running a bit late that day which meant that I was there as the place was closing, but she didn't rush at all. She was very professional with her work, very thorough, and had a great personality to boot! Loved her. They also have hair salon services available and a massage therapist on site. I have to travel back to the area in a couple of weeks and I am absolutely going to return and check those services out as well. My daughter and I went there today as a walk in. They took us in and treated us very good. Friendly staff and nice environment. I did a touch up on my roots and toned the color I already had and a trim. My daughter had a cut and did a balayage. They did an awesome job! My stylist did a good job with my hair, and everyone in the salon was friendly and helpful. My only complaint is with the atmosphere of the salon. It's an older building, which is a plus in my opinion; however, the space has not been designed to be as upscale as the prices are. For this reason, I do expect a certain amount of relaxing ambiance. Here, though, the space feels cold. The worst part, though, is that the ventilation system is in dire need of cleaning--dusty, possibly moldy air, circulates while you're stuck in a chair. This can't be good for the employees, either. I'd recommend this place if these issues were dealt with. read more

Do not waste your time getting a balayage from this salon. They do not care about the health of your hair. The colorist (Whittney) literally fried my hair. It took her approx. 4 hours to heavily damage my hair. The toner didn't stay and whole head turned into Ronald McDonald look. Long story short I went back after few days to get it toned down. They told me the water in my area might be the issue for not holding the toner. Their list of excuses of incompetences are long lol. However, I went back to get deep conditioning treatments etc and nothing is working at the moment. I am looking at long road to recovery from a bad balayage done by an incompetent colorist. Soyoung, I request you to get some professional Colorist who has actually taken training and courses, not just some self proclaimed colorist who has learned it from YouTube and think they can experiment through your salon. read more

I stopped going to this Salon. The last time I was in there I left pretty unhappy with my hair. If someone curls your hair without asking you or without you asking for them to style it that way it is because they are covering up their mistake. My hair was not cut short enough to remove the dead ends, then my hair was thinned out soo much. I also have another girlfriend who wasn't happy with her hair. I know Soyoung is very sweet and I'm sure there are some great girls in there! I guess if you choose to go here you should try and get in with Soyoung, Brooke or Chalet. Just the girl I was using and my friend was using her, messed up our hair and instead of wanting to fix the problem, she tried to cover it up. My gf actually had to pay for her hair and it was clearly not what she wanted. read more

Called to make an appointment and was told the stylist I saw the last two times I went was no longer available for 10 o'clock appointments. I like getting all my errands done early in the morning after I've dropped off my kids. The receptionist recommended another stylist (Jess) and insures me she was just as good. I was ok with this and booked the appointment. I came in to find my appointment was not booked though they took me in for a cut anyways. I sat down only to be confronted by the stylist who did my hair the first two time. I guess she dose do 10 o'clock appointments. She began asking several questions which made me feel as if I were being interrogate. She stated I was her client and normally go to her. Jess offered to let her do my hair and I was ok with that but she didn't want to. I explained the mix up but the atmosphere became a bit hostile. I was not comfortable at all and ready to leave. The girl cutting my hair seemed a bit uncomfortable too. I'm not sure what happened a far as the appointment goes but I do not think it was handle professionally at all. Even if I chose to go to someone completely different, thought that was not the case, I have every right too. It's my hair. The confrontation was unnecessary and unprofessional. I will not be going back which makes me sad because I truly like this place up until this point. read more

I get my hair cut at another barbershop in town, but if I didn't I would consider him for the job; as he is a licensed cosmetologist as well. I never felt awkward or uncomfortable. Amy at Soyoung salon is the bomb. I had the worst haircut ever (tear worthy) a little over 8 months ago and have been very nervous about trusting anyone with my hair. I went from half dirty wash water blonde/half leftover super blonde (from an old dye) to a dark reddish brown. It is by far the best haircut/dye I've ever had. It was a little more expensive than what you would pay at places like Mastercuts, but well worth it. I'm so happy I found her!!
