Recently my husband and I were married in Carpinteria. We wanted to host a nice rehearsal dinner for all of our family and friends the night before our ceremony. We did our research, and we came across Nana's Kitchen. I must say this was one of the best decisions we made. The staff at Nana's Kitchen was incredibly helpful, extremely professional, and delightfully polite. They were willing and able to work with us in putting together a menu that was not only delicious, but also one that was able to accommodate some of our guests dietary preferences. The day of our rehearsal dinner Nana's staff was phenomenal. Nana's provided everything needed for our event with set up and chefs. There was tons of delicious food for our guest to choose from. Not only did they provided delicious entrée options, but they also provided delectable hors d'oeuvres as well. The night was even capped off with amazingly delicious home made churros. It is safe to say not a single person left our event hungry. Additionally, there was plenty of leftovers so our guests had snacks for later on in the evening at their hotels. We were thoroughly impressed by the quality of service we were provided with by Nana's Kitchen. Their ability to provide a turn key service for us was fantastic. We had an absolutely terrific evening the night before our wedding, and a huge reason as to why was because of Nana's Kitchen. If it weren't for the lack of customer service, I'd give them five stars! I was looking for a great taco bar for a 100-person party I was throwing and found them through Yelp. They had great reviews and seemed like a reputable company. I first tried to reach them the week of the 4th of July and received an automated response, it was a holiday week so I understood. I reached out via phone after the holiday and left a message, no response. Tried again a few days later and got through to Kendall, she informed me that she was trying to juggle parties and had to wait to see who wanted to commit, she would call me back the next day. I never heard from her so I called again, she was still waiting for people to call and commit, I reminded her that I had my credit card in hand, she let me know that she would put it on the calendar. Fast forward several days, still waiting for something to confirm that these people are coming, I had to call again and ask for paperwork. Once signed and paid, there was no phone follow up at all until I called to discuss a menu. I finally called a week before the party and got a wonderful young man on the phone who went over everything and assured me all would go well. All of that said, they showed up on time, the food was beyond amazing, and the servers were incredible...I tipped them well. I expected a phone call the following week from an owner or manager to see how things went, what they could improve upon, etc., nothing...zero follow-ups. I would highly suggest that the owner take a look at the customer service and follow-ups and make some changes. read more

I hired Nana's Kitchen for my retirement celebration. I had gotten the business card from a friend's birthday party. The team arrived on and was set up ready to start serving at contracted time. The food was excellent and high quality. Every guest (approximately 60) were very complimentary about the food. The two employees (I'm sorry I forget the names) were professional and efficient. We were lucky to have Nana's kitchen not only for one, but 2 occasions. We first had the pleasure of having them do our son's 1st birthday, and we were absolutely delighted. Mary Jane and Maria were absolutely fabulous! We recently used Nana's to cater our wedding reception and were so pleased with the outcome! Everyone we interacted with from Nana's was professional, courteous, and clearly wanted nothing but the best for our event. We put a deposit down a couple of months in advance to secure our date, and selected our final menu 2 weeks before the event. We selected a variety of passed appetizers and I was so pleased to see that on the day of our reception the appetizers were being passed on a mixed tray. Sometimes at weddings I feel like I'm seeing the same tray of stuffed mushrooms again and again, but with their setup Nana's passed a large tray with a variety of appetizers, so guests could choose from one tray rather than wait and chase around waitstaff if they wanted something in particular. More caterers should do this! For our dinner we did a buffet-style taco selection of chicken, pork, beef, and veggies, with rice and beans on the side as well as salsas and guacamole. Everything was super delicious and I loved having the taco carts on site so everything was very fresh and guests could see everything being made right in front of them! My only reservation with the experience was that we did not have a tasting, they don't offer them. We hoped for the best and read a bunch of reviews (here on Yelp and elsewhere) that proffered deliciousness, but were a little wary up until the day of. It all worked out in the end, but I wonder if that's something they could add, just to quell any worries other catering clients might have! All around it was a great event and I would definitely recommend Nana's to any other couple looking for a casual taco buffet at their wedding! read more

We knew about Nana's because they catered corporate events we attended, and were excited to bring them to our wedding because they do such an incredible job. They run a grill, providing all their own equipment, and prepare an amazing buffet line. Our guests are still raving about how delicious it was -- incredible tacos with sea bass, carne, quesadillas, grilled peppers, and tamales of all kinds, plus savory hot chocolate. We hired Nana's kitchen for a co-ed baby shower. They arrived a head of time and immediately got to work. The food was excellent and enjoyed by all. Mercy & Natalie were lovely and very helpful. In the future, when booking with Maggie, it would be advised for her to be sure to ask if there are stairs or a narrow entry at the site where the grilling is being done. Nana's uses a very large grill that is heavy and on wheels. Fortunately we had some young men on the property who were able to help us carry the grill up the staircase. When my husband and I began planning our wedding last year, we knew we wanted tacos. We had tried a lot of decent taco caterers, but nothing that stood out. We decided to jump on Yelp and found Nana's Kitchen and took a leap of faith. They had great reviews and we even contacted someone who had reviewed them for their wedding and went ahead and booked them. We're SOOOO happy we did! Nana's Kitchen is top notch! They were extremely professional and organized, immediately sent me a quote, checked in with me before the wedding. The food was absolutely AMAZING! First off, their presentation was great! They come with platos de barro and their servers are dressed nicely. We got appetizers as well as dinner and they did an outstanding job.They showed up two hours before serving time, prepped on site. They made the tortillas there and everything we ate was soooo good! For appetizers, we ordered a fruit platter, flour and corn quesadillas, tostaditas and jalapeño cheese stuffers. For dinner, we had handmade tortillas for tacos al pastor, asada and chicken, beans, grilled veggies and agua de horchata and jamaica. Everything was excellent. Our guests still haven't stopped talking about the food. To top off the experience, people kept talking about the friendliness of staff, particularly James. He was joking with guests and welcoming. Most of the time, taqueros take a long time to get everyone fed, but not with Nana's. They fed our 150 guests in no time! They were fast, efficient and even left us with the leftovers! In my experience, Nana's Kitchen is a study in high food quality but low business acumen. Truthfully, the food is excellent. Well made, fresh, and plenty of it. Top marks for that. They were hours late for a surprise party for us. I should've known, since they were late to the event I first saw them, but the food was so good that I dismissed it. To their credit, they were apologetic and worked hard to make up for it. I won't use them again, but they are decent people and you should consider giving them a shot, simply on food quality alone. I hired Nana's kitchen to cater my Out of Towner Dinner the night before my wedding. I searched high and low for a taco truck in Santa Barbara, but to no avail. Luckily, Nana's was recommended to me by a friend of a friend, and once I got her pricing and found out her tortillas are homemade and cooked on-site, I was sold. They charged a marginal travel fee, only about $40, which is more than reasonable. I thought I was getting a tasty taco truck at a great rate for a casual barbecue/buffet on the beach. What I got was an extremely talented and competent caterer, equipped with a professional staff and awesome food at an excellent price. Seriously, I don't have enough nice things to say about Nana and her staff. The food was scrumptious!!! My aunt who grew up in Mexico is a unicorn of a cook, and even she had to come up to Nana and comment on how delicious everything was. You know what feels great? Hosting a party and having about seven of your friends ask for your caterer's info. Yeah, Nana rocks. Also, her set-up was gorgeous. Everything was beautifully plated on the buffet tables, and she did not charge me extra rental fees for use of her trays and equipment like pretty much every other caterer would. Don't get me wrong, I really liked who I had chosen for my wedding caterer, but if I could do it all over again, I would have had Nana cater both the Rehearsal Dinner and my wedding as I found out after the dinner when we were chatting that she does all kinds of food, not just Mexican. The team at Nana's came up to Santa Barbara for our wedding. Were able to set up in an upstairs locations, and take down with no issues. We love Nana's kitchen my family uses them for major family events it's nice to have someone else do the cooking, setup and clean up so u can just sit back and enjoy your party. I've been to other events with upscale taco caterers that serve authentic Mexican food and they were good...but none of them can compare to Nana's Kitchen. The variety of appetizers really sets them apart - ceviche, shrimp and vegetable skewers, taquitos, jalapeno poppers, all so delicious! And of course the tacos were perfect, too. The set up was so pretty - terracotta dishes and colorful table coverings. They really do go above and beyond with everything. Mary Jane and Amalia were so fun, friendly, and professional! Nana did the reharsal dinner for my son's wedding. We arrived early to bring the beverages and the coolers. Not only was Nana already there, she and her team were set up and making quesadillas for my son and I. They were delicious. This was just the beginnning of a food extravaganza!
