Stopped here late on a Saturday night. It wasn't busy. For an appetizer I ordered the Vegetable Samosa. It was delicious. I used the green chutney sauce which was also good. Then I had the Chicken Tikka Masala. This was also one of the best ones I've ever had. The sauce wasn't too sweet, almost slightly smoky. The chicken was fresh and tender. I also had Plain Naan. It wasn't doughy like many I've had. It was slightly thinner which means you won't get full from it. The service was friendly, efficient and attentive. My friend and I went for lunch today, and what a gem this restaurant is! The atmosphere is casual but still has ambience with the wall-sized photographic murals of Petra in Jordan and desert sands. The bar appears to be well stocked, too. We were immediately greeted and told we could sit anywhere we liked. Menus were brought over along with a large carafe of water, and we ordered soon after. Very attentive and friendly wait staff. We ordered the vegetable samosas and garlic naan as appetizers, and they were served with lovely dipping sauces, including tamarind, mint cilantro, and red onion. The samosas were large and freshly made, crisp and delicious pastries filled with potatoes and peas. We also received four generous and delicious pieces of naan. For my entrée, I ordered the vegetable biryani with mint tea, and my friend ordered the zaffrani chicken biryani. Both biryanis were large and served with generous potions of raita. All very delicious! I inquired about the mint tea, which was served in a pretty metal tea pot and dispensed into my cup at the table by our waiter. Ordered on Doordash from the car and got our food 5 min before closing. They still had a dine-in customer finishing when I picked up. Solid Indian food option! We tried the goat curry, lamb vindaloo and palak paneer. The goat curry was our favorite and both the goat and lamb were tender. However the vindaloo was too tangy and the palak paneer too creamy and rich. There was a dollop of butter on top of each dish, and I would have preferred if the dishes were less heavy. Lemme start off by saying the service was unreliable lol. We walked in on a Sunday, and no one was there. Eventually I heard voices in the back kitchen so I went there myself to ask them if they were open. Then I got myself some menus and sat down. I ordered our drinks by walking up to the bartender bc he wasn't coming towards us. They were nice but def not really attentive. We ordered a bunch of food, and most of it was decent, some of it ive had way better like tamarind or dosa grill. I think I would give this place one more try - I just will not dine in again for a while lol. read more

So, this place is new in the area. I decided to place an online order which was perfectly seamless. It said the order would be ready in 30 minutes. I arrived 15 minutes later and went in. No staff in sight. I waited a few minutes before noticing a paper bag on a shelf by the counter. Sure enough it had my name on it so I took it and left. I got 2 chicken Samosas and the Aloo Tikki Chaat. The samosas were pretty horrible. The flavor was there, but they were so dry that I can't believe they were fresh. I mean like Sahara dry. The Aloo was REALLY good. 1st time ever having it and I was pleased. The portion was enormous! The samosas were huge too, but you know - they didn't taste good. I ate one and threw the other one in the trash. I hate wasting food but they are borderline inedible - the chicken has the consistency of saw dust. The restaurant looked really clean, so that was a plus. I would have like to comment on the staff, but I didn't see any. They also have a full bar... I highly recommend Namaste Indian Food in Poughkeepsie! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by some of the kindest, most welcoming people. The restaurant is spotless, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The real star, though, is the food. Since they opened, I've made it a point to try as many different dishes as possible, and every single one has been outstanding. Honestly, each dish seems even better than the last. Namaste Indian Poughkeepsie 260 North Rd. (Across from Marist) We lived in Jackson Heights, Queens, NYC, in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. The first Indian Restaurant there was on 74th St. It was called Dehli Palace. That became our gold standard for Indian food, one of my favorite cuisines. Eventually, dozens of Indian Restaurants followed, transforming the area to the aptly-named Little India. But none of them could hold a candle to Dehli Palace. Our favorite dish was Reshmi Kebab, a platter of sizzling delicately spiced chicken breast on skewers over a bed of onions and peppers. Some Indian restaurants call it Murgh Malai Kebabs. This new restaurant in Poughkeepsie names it Malai Kebabs. And it's the same as our Holy Grail...Reshmi Kebabs. Swoon! We started our lunch with Vegetable Pakoras and assorted vegetable fritters. Then the aforementioned Malai Kabab (Boneless chicken breast seasoned with an array of herbs, spices, ginger, garlic and cream.) A lovely Basmati Rice, and Tandoori Roti Service was attentive and gracious. I included the wine list because it was so thoughtfully curated. Small but cute 10 table restaurant tucked along North Rd near Marist College. Wife ordered a Mojito (very Indian cocktail, lol) and I had a Kingfisher just like some You Tubers I follow. The gentleman server was pleasant and attended to us quickly. We ordered Chicken Samosas and shared Chicken Tikka Masala and of course Garlic Naan bread. The food was timely tho. We ordered Vegetable Samosas and Gobi Manchurian and both were excellent. The sauce for the gobi was tangy, a bit of spice and sweet all at the same time. I ordered Butter chicken, my husband had chicken tikka masala. Both were very good and portions were enough to bring home. The garlic naan was fresh. I ordered the mango lassi, which was very sweet.
