I found this place after searching for vegan-friendly Indian restaurants in the neighbourhood. Their menu is very clearly marked what is vegan or what "can be vegan" -- very helpful.
We arrived around 6:30pm on a bank holiday Monday and got a table--the place filled up very quickly thereafter.
We ordered a bhel puri chaat (£5), tofu curry (£9.50), and bhindi masala (£9). We asked for everything above average spiciness and it all came out perfectly for us.
-The bhel puri was quite creamy, with a nice mix of classic Indian ingredients in there. The tamarind wasn't too sweet and all the textures worked well. Solid stuff, though not a mind-blowing bhel puri. 4/5
-The bhindi was the highlight for us. The okra was cooked perfectly, accompanied by nicely cooked onions, red and green bell peppers, and a delectable array of spices. Spicy, not too oily, and highly flavourful. Awesome stuff. 5/5
-The tofu curry came with 4 pieces of thinly sliced soft tofu, with a saucy curry full of chickpeas and bell peppers. Reasonably flavourful and nicely spiced, but I'm not sure how well the soft tofu works here. Good dish. 4/5
We also got a couple of naans (a garlic naan and peshwari naan -- £4 and £4.50) that can be made vegan, which was a nice surprise. Both were very good.
Service was very friendly and fast.
All in all, a really nice Indian restaurant for vegan options. Recommended. read more
