Stopped in for lunch last week & I'm glad we did. The manager held the door as I carried in my sleeping child. Calm atmosphere. Tables are mostly 4 tops. Ordered the Brussels sprouts and chicken satay to start. DELICIOUS! Then ordered chicken pad Thai, Thai fried rice, & side of steamed rice. Pad Thai noodles were a little chewy, but they were find the next day (we had leftovers). Fried rice needed a little salt & pepper, but that's my personal taste. Steamed rice was fresh & not just sitting around. Definitely coming back. Update: kept coming back. We've had the green (my favorite), Massaman, & red curries. DELICIOUS! Huge portions, so tasty, & savory. They definitely have a slow burn that comes on after eating it for a while. Still my preferred place to go for Thai. Tofu triangles were also pretty good. Maybe they are supposed to have a light flavor, but I added it to my curry once the meal came & enjoyed it even more. read more

My friend treated me to dinner at Nam Khong for my birthday. I had heard about it and wanted to try Westerly's newest restaurant. We were greeted by Sam, our very upbeat, friendly and knowledgeable waiter. We asked for 3 appetizers, chefs choice, and their specialty, Nam Khong, same name as the restaurant. He explained that they are the only Laotian restaurant in the area and the only place you can get it. We had the Crispy Squid, Fried Brussels Sprouts Thai Style and Stuff Wings. All amazing but the Stuff Wings are so delicious and something I have never seen, I can't figure out how it's made! The Nam Khong was fresh seafood, veggies with a delicious sauce. I have recommended Nam Khong to all my friends and family and I brought 7 friends there recently. Everyone loved it and all have returned for more! I brought my 88 year old mother there yesterday for Mothers Day and she loved it! We had the Chicken Satay ( awesome peanut sauce), Stuff Wings ( can't get enough!) and the Mango Chicken with cashews, coconut milk and a light curry sauce. Yum! Since they are so new, they don't have money for advertising. Spread the word! They serve the BEST Laotian/Thai food I've ever had! Their liquor license has been approved, they are waiting for the official "letter" from the state of RI to serve alcohol. Right now they are BYOB! read more

What a surprise to have such a delicious restaurant find in Westerly. I loved the meal and the stuffed chicken wings were the best I have ever had. The service was excellent and the red walls added so much to the atmosphere. We will definitely go back. I hope they have a big success. read more

First time here today and very happy to have found this friendly family run restaurant. I ordered mango fried rice with duck, which is not on the menu (only chicken is listed). They kindly accommodated my request. The food was delicious and service great. A group people were having pho soup and they are happy regulars. cannot wait to be back. read more

...Just tried Nam Khong for the first time..they are everything I had hoped for and then some.. I got Soft Spring rolls...which were delicious as was the peanut sauce for dipping..then the Papaya salad which I asked the girl at the counter if it was hot...yes it is...love it!!...Entree was Chicken Red Curry with sticky rice...once again good and spicy ...full of flavor...I definitely don't have to drive to URI to get good Thai anymore. Tasty take-out! Quick service and easy access off route 1. Dumplings were on point- we ordered the pork and shumai. Especially enjoyed the fiery chicken Pad Thai; it's not too spicy but has a great kick. Order a lot because you'll be wanting leftovers! read more

Best Thai in town! Used to be a die-hard Thong fan, but it's gone downhill since it's been under new ownership, so I was looking for a new spot for Thai in town. Ordered for take out- chicken in peanut sauce, coconut rice, crispy spring rolls, scallops in peanut sauce, as well as wonton and tom yum soups. Order was ready upon arrival. Always great! Khao Soi and stuffed chicken wing apps are tremendous. This place has converted me to an at least once-a-week customer. Takeout, lunch, dinner.....always consistently good. In a word...terrible. Sub par thai food and serivce is awful. The worst. Ordered for pick up and was told a half an hour and I am still waiting 30 extra minutes of sitting here at the restaurant waiting for the food that I was on time to pick up! Man at the desk has been ignoring the phone and doesn't know prices for some items which is holding everything up. Ridiculous. A group came in after me and is getting there takeout before me. DO NOT COME HERE. Go to Thong Thai. Nam Khong is unreal. The workers are yelling at each other in another language. Very hostile environment to be in. Man has been ignoring two customers who came in for sit down dinner the whole time I have been here. Really really disappointing. Don't have a business if you cant run it properly. We are regulars now! The food is delicious and ample. I have never taken the time to write a restaurant review, but this one is an exception. The shrimp steamed dumplings overflow with a filling that features a firm texture of blended shrimp and spices and are delicious. Not a drop of the delightful dumpling sauce goes to waste at our table. All vegetables in the green curry and are cooked to tender crisp perfection, and like other dishes at Nam Khong, a star marks the dish as truly spicy. (Diners may request non-spicy versions.) The servings are ample so many come prepared to bring some of the main dishes home and finish with a fabulous mango with sweet sticky rice. The coconut rice is to die for and can be shared by two or three. As always, prices are surprisingly low for dining experience. read more

I am not sure why this place is not more crowded. Food is delicious. Today I had the fiery pad thai and mango with sticky rice. I loved both. Flavor is great and vegetables and egg were perfectly cooked. I should have asked for more crushed peanuts but that might be me. Not at all greasy which is sometimes my issue with Thai. Came here on Saturday for lunch. Got the Tom Yum soup. It was ok but the flavor was sort of lacking. I like this place and this is the first time I had this soup. We discovered this restaurant on day 3 of their opening. The papaya salad is incredible. It has both western and eastern ingredients like iceberg lettuce and tomatoes with papaya and lime juice with a hot pepper kick. It's topped with roasted peanuts. The summer rolls differ from the Vietnamese version because they have more crispy veg. and basil and no rice noodles. Good for dieters. Kay is a lovely hostess. Food comes out quickly. The squid is a little bland, but maybe they are trying to please people who can not take hot and saucy with an alternative dish. Great addition to Westerly. We would go back in an instant. read more

I have been waiting for an awesome Thai food restaurant in Stonington/Westerly for a lot of years. I wanted to find a place that rveled Bankok City in New London. Well, it has finally arrived in Westerly! Nam Khong is so delicious fresh and wicked friendly. It is a family owned and operated restaurant. The vegetables are crisp, tender, the rice sticky, the beer cold and the seafood local. The atmosphere is perfect, not too big not too small.
