Nails Plus rarely disappoints me. I've been going to them about two years now. I try other places, but I keep coming back. Located on Sunnyside and Pendleton Pike, Nails Plus is a drive for me from the south side, but it's always worth it. I've seen a few of the nail techs. Some better than others. Sue will meet you at the front if she's there and takes walk-ins only. I'd come and wait for her if I have the time. I think she's the owner, and she's my favorite. There hasn't been a design she wasn't able to do. It's a cash-only establishment, so be warned. But I tell you what, you won't be disappointed. I found this nail salon on Yelp. They are a cash only establishment, and I neverrrr have cash. However, they work quickly and I like the way they do my nails. They only allow gel pedicures at this time, which was a first for me, usually I just use regular nail polish on my toes and gel on my nails. I like that it is closer to my house and everyone is friendly. The last time I visited I had my nails done with the dip powder and an ombre color, I really like them! I will be back! read more

Let me start off by saying that I have been into this salon a couple of times before and never had issues until this recent visit. I asked for a design and after my main nail technician finished the base of my mani she switched with Tom (I believe is his name) and he began my design. He did the wrong design on the wrong nail so I corrected him before he went any further to which he seemed annoyed but didn't say anything just wiped my nail and started over on the correct one. After he had finished my design he quickly began to shape my nails into a shape I did not ask for and shorten them even shorter than my previous nail technician had already done. Not only did he shorten and shape my nails but also completely butchered the design I had asked for and didn't even check to see if I liked it before charging me and sending me on my way. I contacted the owner after I had left to let her know what happened to which she said she had spoken to him and he said "my nails were already short" but that she would fix them if I came back in. I made it back as soon as I could but Julie the owner was out and I was approached by another tech who asked me what had happened and sat me at Julie's table. While waiting for Julie and not saying A WORD my original design technician Tom chimes in from where he's sitting to tell me I'm wrong and that my nails were indeed already short before I came in. After I kindly explained that I was referring to them shaping them after I asked them not too and the design looking completely awful he proceeded to laugh and say some things to his coworkers in his native language that I wasn't able to understand. I tried to stay quiet and wait a while longer while my sister called Julie to ask where she was but the way I was being talked to and treated was rude and intimidating ESPECIALLY since I had done NOTHING disrespectful and was simply just asking for them to be fixed and look a little better. I left after Julie said she wouldn't be back for another hour as I wasn't going to sit there and be laughed at for TOM messing up my nails any longer. This was handled completely wrong and don't get me wrong the salon is pretty okay like I said I've been in before with no issues but Tom and his attitude need to be dealt with. read more

JULIE IS TRASH....I started going to nail plus because my fiance recommended it from one of his clients. My 1st visit was actually decent she took care of me like she was supposed to everything was all right, I EVEN TIP HER, by the 2nd visit honestly the customer service experience went rite out the door, I made sure to call ahead of time to confirm my appointment, when I got there she had a stinky look on her face after I told her I was there to see her, JULIE. She had me waiting for an hour couldn't do the Picture I sent her because she misplaced some type of tool she needed in order to do my nails. My third visit, I asked her how much will it be all together she told me $65, we both agreed but by the time she got done with my nail other customers walked up to me liking my design so her head got big and decided to raise up the price to $90 and told me she charged me for soak off.... if my nails are $65she charged me $40 for my soak off. I went in on a Saturday and walked right into a dirty bed-sheet hanging in the doorway.  The place was packed full of unfriendly and annoyed looking customers.  I was optimistic having done no research on the place. Instantly one of the male techs asked me what I wanted. I told him.  He went back to the client he was working on but not before pointing to a seating area full of people and asked me to sit down.  No room to sit.  He nodded at me again.. have a seat.  "The hell?"  I thought to myself and ended up against the side of the door, right next to the dirty hanging bed-sheet. Immediately another employee, a lady this time, asked me what I wanted. I told her that I still wanted exactly what I just told the other guy. Word for word. She too asked me to sit down where there was no place to sit.  What the hell is wrong with these people?  15 minutes later it was my turn. Guy led me back to a chair that was still occupied by someone and asked me to sit down.......I'm thinking there must be some failure in translation here with the "sitting". Maybe it means wait here next to this chair?  He called me back to have me wait an additional 5 minutes standing by his station while he finished with someone else instead of letting me sit at the front.  Such bizarre customer service.  So while waiting, both at the entrance and now at the back of the shop I have been checking this place out. Just seeing details here and there. The walls, dirty, dusty.. dingy. The floors, a turmoil of dusty, broken nails, nail clippings, full acrylic nails with polish, that were obviously off someone's fingers. Every inch of this place was covered in grit and grime. Dingy and disgusting. You can practically see the germs migrating along the floors, chairs and equipment. Still, I stayed put because there is a reason there are 29 people in here right now. Eventually the chair is vacated and I sat down.  Asked the guy what my options were for nails, not too long, not to thick.  He asked what I had prior and I told him acrylics.  So he said.. "Ok, acrylic" and started working.  I asked him if I had any other options he said "aye, acrylic".... so I wasn't able to talk about my options. The guy only knew acrylics.  I just went with it. I both told him and showed him how thin and brittle my nails were and asked him to please be very careful.  He nodded and said "ok". But then proceeded to utilize the exact same drill bit he had used on the last person that was there....rough and definitely not for thin natural nails and most importantly not sanitized from the previous client. I asked about it and he nodded, smiled and said "ok" and kept going.  He didn't understand?  He started to clean up my nail beds with this awful, rough attachment and I had to yank my hands away 3 or 4 times because he was hurting me and very rough.  My poor nails were in need of care and a gentle touch.  I just ignored it as much as I could. I was already here, might as well get it over with. When he was done be used a giant, dirty brush where I saw somebody else's nail clipping in between the bristles to "dust off" my fingers. It felt more like the amount of germy shit on my hands wasn't enough for his taste so he added on more. Then he proceeded to super glue tips onto my fingernails at the speed of light. He cut them to the length and shaped them. He put on a thinnish layer of acrylic and it looked ok. He shaped with a hand held emery board but again, way too rough a grit for my nails. He sawed away at my fingers so roughly that again I yanked my hands away several times when the harsh board put so much friction to my skin that I felt he would rip my skin off. I was pissed. Summary: No cuticle work. No hand massage.  No pampering.  Just a process that is poised at getting people in and out asap with no personal service, no exploring options so you get what you want. The salon was disgusting,  filthy and dingy from the condition of the floors, to the dirty bedsheet hanging at the door, to the dirty filth under the nails of the man who painfully slapped my nails on.   Disgusting place and people who do not understand English or customer service. I had to put a lot of effort into not thinking about the dirt too much. At the end he said $27. So I pulled out my credit card...he said "cash only". I do not carry cash on me.  He said, "you go to ATM at Kroger next door" so I did but super frustrated.  Who the hell does "cash only" in 2018?  The next day my fingers were sore, hurting and tight because the tips he used were too small for my fingernails.  The skin on the sides of the nails was tender and raw from being scraped so harshly.  Nails look ok but not worth the experience, the pain, or breathing in the air of that place. *gag* Spend a few extra dollars and go to a reputable salon. If I could give 0 stars it would be too many. Pedicures and paintings of the toes were being done at the nail tables with tech under neath the desk area. I go to nails plus once a month to get my i brows done by the owner Julie I stopped getting my nails done there due to 1. BRING CASH! I've been coming here for years! I never used to be a girly girl (and even now, I just play one on the outside), so this was the first place I've ever gotten my nails done. I've tried to go other places in the past, but it seems that not only do they not get it right, my nails always ended up cracking/breaking. I just stick with what I know. I don't even live on this side of town anymore, but I make the commute every two weeks. My Nail Tech's name is Nam; he knows me by name (they all make the effort to learn names), and he always gets me right! They provide a range of services (in addition to standard nail shop services like Manis and Pedis) including: lashes, eyebrow waxing and facial waxing. Weekends get pretty busy (especially during holidays or big events in the city). You can TRY to make a appt., but the best thing to do would be to call and ask what the wait time is instead. After I chose my nail polish color, I was walked back to the pedicure bowl and was immediately second guessing my decision to come here. The place was filthy.
