I'm a bit torn about this nail salon. I've been here several times and I really like the owner - Terri. She's extremely friendly and is very accommodating when you call in and want to come in. The majority of their business comes from the Memorial area where they say most of their clients are either retired or are stay at home Moms who get their mani-pedis on a weekly basis so they don't really get to do a lot of solar nails.
In regards to the basic mani-pedi, they do pretty good work - so that's why I would give them three stars. But as for solar nails, I have to admit that their quality of work is not as good as other places. Since their location is very close to my office, I tried to go back several times, blaming the peeling/falling off nails on me - as they claimed. After awhile, I finally realized that it really wasn't me that was causing the lifting and the air bubbles.
They were running a special on foot massages one week. During the previous week, they ran a special on reflexology. I asked what the difference was and they said it was the same thing, so I requested a 30 minute session while they were refilling my solar nails. I have to say that even though the extra foot massage felt nice, it was not reflexology. Sorry, but pressing on two or three pressure points in your feet and by your knee is not what I call reflexology. Don't get me wrong, it was listed as "foot massage", but when asked, they told me it was the same as the "reflexology" special they were running the week before.
The most memorable experience I had was when the girl who did my foot massage and pedicure commented that I was pretty, but told me "not to eat too much". What the hell? HELLO. OK, I admit, I'm not back to my normal size - I had a baby a year ago and I'm still working to get the baby weight off, but who the hell was she to tell me that? For that comment, I took off one star.
So, if you're in the area and need a nail salon to go to in pinch, call and make an appointment, I'm sure they'll fit you in. Just stick to their mani-pedis.
As for me, I won't be returning. With the amount of nail salons in Houston, I can definitely find a salon where the girls don't tell me not to eat too much. At least - not to my face. read more
