Found this amazing salon with the help of Yelp so I thought it was only right to come back. My manicure didn't start chipping until 7 friggin days later. No gel. No nothing. I was massaged during my manicure, my pedicure, and after while my nails dried. The service was amazing and the facility itself is beautiful. Very clean. Everyone was nice and smiled at me constantly. I just felt very taken care of and at the end I couldn't believe it was only $21 for a mani-pedi (Mon-Wed promo) so I tipped $8 because GOD it was good service. read more

Amazing service. The place is very clean and the nail supplies are in sterile packets. I have been coming to this nail salon for a year - I mean religiously every two weeks like clockwork. They greet everyone that's comes right in. Yes I have to agree with one review Darren is The Man with massages. The is another gentlemen that is heaven as well. Even my husband get his pedicure every two weeks. Hopefully everyone is aware on the business cards get 9 manicures get the 10 one free !! I have lived in Riverdale for 10 years and have tried every nail salon around... Nails Island is by far the best of the bunch. The shop is clean well-run, has a great selection of Essie and I find their prices reasonable. By far the best in the area! read more

I have never left Nail Island unhappy. They're one of the few welcoming, clean and reasonable salons in the area. Their prices recently went up a few dollars due to changes in the NYS Health Code, but you still can't beat the $24 manicure and pedicure deal they have every Monday-Wednesday! read more

Very disappointed in the tip set I got at Nails Island. I'd previously come to this salon for manicures & pedicures on two separate occasions. Since having moved to the area, I decided to get some tips for my birthday. Mistake! The workers here aren't very friendly...but I can deal with that. However, as a customer I should be able to dictate what I want. I asked for a tip set, and apparent only one woman can do them. She didn't ask what kind I wanted and when I requested gel she told me she was doing powder...ok then. She puts on my tip set, asks me if I want them square, I say no and she proceeds to give me the squarest set of tips I've ever had. The end result were a very square set of tips that look wide, have dents and are uneven. Not to mention how she cut up my cuticles with the nail file. This tech didn't look or talk to me again until she told me to pick a color. By the time I did and sat back down, she had moved on to someone else. She had another tech paint my nails. I wasted $48 on this nail set. I wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone. Complete lack of professional and courtesy. read more

Nice and clean establishment. Great nail polish selection and they give mini massages at the end of your service. That's about it. Paint job was mediocre. I got a mani/pedi two days ago and already have cuticles flaring out. The gentleman who serviced me did a poor cleaning job. He barely touched my cuticles and left the sole of my foot all flaky. Gross! I could've done a better job myself and it's not my trade! I have definitely gone to better places and will not be coming here again. read more

Bad place and bad customer service. They won't be open long is my guess. I tried it a few times and had multiple services but each experience and service was disappointing. The first time I got nicked by the boy doing my pedicure and instead of apologizing he snapped a photo saying that he needs to be protected in case of a law suit. But I gave a 20 percent tip and came back again because there were no bad feelings on my end. But when I came back there was a bad vibe in the place. I had a special pedicure which was nothing special at all, and a back massage. The back massage by a female server was average and perfunctory. This time I noticed the salon is not that clean. The staff pretends to not know English when convenient for them. I will not be coming back. read more

Wow, this place has really gone down hill. I have been coming here since it opened and always received great service. A few of the original people are no longer there and have been replaced by younger women who really seemed bored and almost unhappy to be there. I went in this Saturday with a friend both for mani/pedis. They rushed through our service (it wasn't even that busy) and did a terribly sloppy job on both of us. I had snags on 2 fingernails which I fixed myself. The guy who did my friend's mani pedi didn't give the usual backrub, cut her nails at an angle so they weren't even, left a smudge on her thumb nail and left nail polish spots on the top of her big toe! I asked one girl if she could fix the smudge, which she did only by putting more polish on top. We then saw the polish on her toe but when I tried to call someone over, we were ignored until I actually got up from my dryer and made someone come over and fix it. I had a rushed experience a couple of other times but chalked it up to it being very busy. Total shame and with many other nail salons in Riverdale, I won't be coming back again! read more

I came here because it seemed to have good reviews and was in my area. They overcharged me and were not apologetic about it. I will not be back. I have acrylics that I needed to soak off and reapplied. I told them this several times when I came in. No response. Before they did my nails I reminded them again soak then reapply acrylic. I asked how much and they said $65 which is about $20 more than in other places but I figured they would be great. As she started the process I saw after she dips 2 of my nails that she is doing silk. I told her I didn't want silk I wanted acrylic. Silk is way more expensive which is what I figured explained the high price. I told them no and they were not very happy about doing acrylic. My nails came out ok nothing phenomenal but then when it was all said and done they were charging me the same amount as quoted before. When I asked why? They said because they don't do acrylics unless the customer asks for it and they charge the same price as silk. I told them that made no sense especially since acrylic is cheaper and they have clear prices for acrylic on their menu and it was cheaper than the silk. They were just trying to ignore me and I figure they needed my money more than I did for their quality of service. If they treat customers like that for a basic nail job then I can imagine their customer retention is not high. read more

THE WORST AROUND. 1st: I had been going there exclusively bc it's right across the street from my house....at some point, I contracted a nail fungus from there which they told me 'was a bruise'. 2nd: Got an acrylic refill before a wedding...less than 6 hrs later one had broken, within a week, the rest were broken or lifting off. 3rd: Went in today for a pedicure...figured even they couldn't screw a simple pedicure up....WRONG. When I left the salon my feet were rougher than when I went in....and the worst was the polish did not dry on one of my big toes still even after 3 hours!! So, I went to get the smudged polish fixed....to which their answer was to glob even more polish on top....resulting in it getting even worse and not drying. So then they had to entirely re paint my toes with a new color (which I don't really like but was exhausted from the terrible service at this point) and the woman basically had to go in and re file my toenails and cut the cuticles again because the guy who did them earlier did that bad of a job. Oh yeah. And it looks like garbage. I don't care how convenient the location is, I am NEVER going back to this dump again. Go back to cosmetology school and learn how to do nails, techs of Nails Island. read more

im giving one star b/c the people that work there are very nice and you will look great for the first 3 days....but this is THE most expensive place ($33 for a gel manicure) and the mani pedi's from here chip faster than any other ive gotten... ive been at least 4 times.if u call to complain they say they will fix it but the reason i paid a small fortune for the gel is i dont have time to go to the salon as it is, let alone to fix faulty work read more
