I've been wanting to do a blowout for some time but have been apprehensive of trusting my healthy hair with anyone else in fear of them damaging it with heat. Heat damage is irreversible and ruins your natural curl pattern so all my hardwork could've easily been undone. Before having my hair blown out, I spoke with the owners and stylist at the salon about my concerns. They were very understanding and assured me that there wouldn't be any heat damage to my hair and are very knowledgeable working with natural coarse hair. They didn't try to convince me to put a relaxer in it and even stated that the texture doesn't determine if it's good or bad when the hair is healthy. That right there let me know that I was in good hands. And I was! My hair is very thick so it requires a lot of patience to work through. From the shampoo to conditioning, I was in heaven with having my scalp massaged without all the heavy handed pulling and tugging. Even the blow out was skillfully done without my scalp and ears being burned or small clouds of smoke rising up from the hair. This was what I was used to from before which had caused the heat damage to my already then chemically processed hair. They offer you beverages and the black/white ambience is very trendy, comfortable and welcoming. The owners who are a husband and wife team were very nice, accommodating and confident in the quality of their services. They have been in the hair game for many years and I have to say that I wish I knew about them sooner. I was so excited about the results! My hair still looked and felt healthy after the blow out. I couldn't keep my fingers out of my hair because it was still very soft. As for their rates, it didn't break the bank as their prices are very affordable and I am looking forward to pampering myself again at my new favorite salon. I met up with my best girlfriend and she asked why I had hair on my forehead... And I laughed and said, my love, those are blackheads! So I knew I had a problem, and I wanted to support a local business that would help me find the resolution for that problem. That is how I came across Chen's Skincare and Spa! I loved that I was able to book an appointment online through their website which was clean and easily navigable. They only took one person per hour in the spa which was comforting giving that we are living in times of plague and pestilence. I was texted to confirm and showed up the next day, a babe in the woods, ready for my first facial/microderm treatment! My technician was Hersy and she was very polite and very understanding! She made me feel welcomed after I revealed that this was new for me as a guy who admittedly didn't know as much about skincare as perhaps I should have known! She explained everything she was doing, what the effects were, and she even made suggestions on how I could better take care of my skin. It has been three days since my Gentleman's facial and microdermabrasion treatment and I have never seen my skin glow quite like it does now! Its wonderful and I've received so many compliments!
