I got one of the best nail fills I've ever had--they fixed shaping and thickness issues from a previous fill elsewhere, and my nails look amazing. Great color selection too. My pedicure was also one of the most thorough I've had in years. My feet are unbelievably soft, and unlike other places, I left without any nicks or scrapes. The atmosphere was chill and welcoming. I called thinking I'd need an appointment, and the woman simply said, "You come right now." Perfect after a long travel day. I was in town for work and needed to get my nails done. I stayed in the downtown area and was dismayed at their lack of nail salons. After reading all of the negative reviews, I did not want to go here, but the woman at the front desk at my hotel, told me to specifically ask for Tommy. If Tommy is the best tech that they have then this salon should be shut down. It was dirty and my pedicure was subpar. My toes were misshapen and he would have gone ahead and painted them as is, if I had not noticed and made him fix their shape. My no-chip mani was decent, but not enough to warrant them more than 2 stars. I can not recommend this place and the next time I am in town, I would rather just take a car service to a different part of town for much better service. read more

I was planning on going to a different salon across the street from my new apartment, but they didn't have any nail techs on staff at the time and referred me here. When I looked up the reviews, I was hesitant but was in desperate need of a fill and trim (I had hurt a finger/nail at the gym earlier in the day too since my nails had grown) and thanksgiving was coming up so I went. Now this place isn't anything fancy at all. It's really just the minimum of what they need to do business and the "decor" is non existent. Really, it looks like a hole in the wall (not dirty, just not pretty). I was greeted immediately and asked what I needed. I told her I needed an acrylic fill, shorten and color change. I showed her a photo of what I wanted (just short square tipped nails with a nude color and black French tip). She asked that I have a seat and went right to work. She was very quick, but not at all rough or careless. I picked my color and I was finished and out in no time. My nails look beautiful too. I feel like I HAD to write a review on this place because I had such a great experience. I think it gets a bad rap because it's not a fancy place. The building looks a bit run-down to be honest, but again, it's not dirty. If you're looking for a simple nail service, it's definitely the place for you. Worst experience for a pedicure ever. I was watching the TV and felt pain. Looked down and the guy was pulling a part of my nail away from my skin down the side of the nail bed. What the hell? It hurt at the time but not much, and by the time I realized what he'd done it was too late. Since then my toe has been incredibly sore, full of pus and very red. Thanks for nothing. Usually I'm very fair to businesses but this place deserves one star. I have been there twice for eyebrow waxes and manicures. The first time I got an fine brow wax but she cut my finger while cutting the cuticle. The next time I went in the wax was WAY too hot and she burnt my eye lids! I had a burn there for 4 days! Plus my nail got infected. They do not clean their utensils with barbicide and just have them sitting out. One girl there is very friendly however the other one (who I had both times) was very apathetic, EVEN WHEN SHE CUT ME! DO NOT go here. There are many other salon/spas in the area for only a few dollars more. It is not worth the cheap prices. read more

I had just moved to St. Louis and needed my nails done before my first day of work. Nail center is close to my apartment so I walked over for a quick fix. The salon was empty yet none of the technicians seemed welcoming or willing to help. The service prices are cheap but you get what you pay for. My acrylics were coming off after 4-5 days and the cheap top coat started peeling after the 3rd day. The tools did not sterilized and that should have been when I left. I almost missed going to this gem because of the Yelp reviews but I'm glad I didn't! I go here every 2-3 weeks to get my nails done and they always look gorgeous. Several of my coworkers have started going there as well. True that the owners aren't very talkative and the place is a little run down, but they owners are polite, efficient, and really good at what they do. Plus honestly at the end of a long work day the last thing I want to do is make small talk for an hour. I had been doing acrylics but today they took them off and applied a gel treatment. I get a manicure and pedicure every two weeks. I usually go to a salon in Clayton but I live downtown. So, I decided to give a neighborhood business some attention. Well, what a poor decision it was to go to Nails Center. The place seemed clean enough but the attitude of the two workers was nasty enough to shut the whole place DOWN. She rushed through the procedures and really didn't care when I asked for her to touch up some obvious errors in the treatments. They didn't communicate with me or the three other people that entered during the time I was present. A young lady was asking, the technician that was servicing me, a question and the worker never looked up or responded. I had to stop her and tell her that the lady was asking a question. She never greeted them. Come to think of it, she never greeted me. Just pointed to a chair and said, "I be right there." The entire experience was awful...just awful! read more

This place is terrible. I have visited three times (shame on me, I now know) and each experience is lack luster. First, there are inconsistencies in the services offered. It's as if the nail technician decides on a whim what she's willing to do. Even on common things, like push your cuticles back (I'm 2/3 on getting this done). Also, the polishes seem old. I have picked a different color every time and with every shade, I end up with sticky polish that chips within a day...even the indestructible gel polish. What really takes the cake is that they cut me (w/o apology) and I had an infected toe the day after my last pedicure from there. In short, convenience does not prevail. If you're a downtown dweller like me and see the flashing sign on your leisurely stroll, think of my infected toe and just keep walking. read more

It's a small business. It was clean, the pedicure chairs looked brand new. The office chairs for manicures were worn. There is a big difference to me between worn and clean. But I did not question my safety and nor was I charged a price where I could reasonably expect small business owners to spend on the latest and greatest. My pedi was done by a nice man who tapped when he wanted me to move my foot. I am not good at small talk so I appreciated that he let me veg out and follow the taps on my foot to move. With only two employees, the Nail Center was efficient & did a great job. When I walked in (without an appointment) both techs were doing manicures on other clients. I selected my color & was soaking my feet within 10 minutes. The pedicure was great and included a leg scrub & massage for $25. If I lived in St. Louis, I'd be back for sure! read more

This establishment had the worst customer service I have ever seen!!! They didn't greet any of their customers when they walked in, to include my mother and I. Also, they did not let customers know the length of their wait like all the other nail salons I've been so many of them left from waiting too long. They were obviously short handed with staff because it was only two nail techs available. To make matters worse, the male nail tech was extremely rude. I showed him what color I wanted on the sample and he made me find it myself instead of finding what number it was. After I picked a color, he proceeded to apply the wrong one and got angry with me when I said I wasn't pleased with it. His words were "did I pick the color, or did you?" So I told him to remove the polish but he ignored me and moved on to someone else. The female nail tech had me sit with her and had me pick a color but she did not help diffuse the situation and said they can't keep changing my color because they were busy, but in actuality it all could have been avoided if they would've done their jobs correctly and exercised quality customer service. I was St Louis on business and my no-chip from before was on its last leg, so I needed to get it removed. Sadly, there are very few places in downtown St. Louis for a person without a car to get his/her nails done. I ended up here. I walked in and there were only 2 techs working, both with customers. I asked for my service: no chip removal and regular manicure. I was placed at a station for my hands to soak in acetone for 40 minutes!! I kept having to take my fingers out because it was uncomfortable. Finally, I get my manicure. The process was fine, nothing great but nothing bad to report. However, it's less than 24 hours later and 4 of my 10 finger nails have significant chips. I'm not in manual labor nor do I do any heaving lifting so for my nail polish to chip after 20 hours is absurd. They have signs in the place that read something like they aren't responsible for polish that chips the "natural" way and I completely respect that when you've at least had the polish longer than 1 day. I should have just had them remove the no chip and not wasted the $14 for a manicure. I recommend the place for immediate need/day of/night of things but the quality is not there for a long lasting polish. read more

I agree the customer service is lacking (staff is a bit short with you when you try to engage in convo etc. ) but my nails were actually done very well. I was in a rush to get a manicure and a spa I found was closed so I decided to come here. By no means is this place a day spa but they got the job done and I'm satisfied with the finished product. $12 for a manicure I've paid much more for a mani and all it came with was a beverage of choice & fake smiles from the boogie technicians. Don't get me wrong , it's great to have a spa day at a fancy nail bar but if you're on the fly this place is sufficient. I didn't get my eyebrows waxed here but the supplies (tweezers, comb & some other thingy that I don't know the name of ) didn't seem to be in a sterilizing solution or storage.
