I go to the location in Camby. It has been a great experience so far. It's a very comfortable setting but honestly you feel like you are just handing out with friends while you are there. I personally go to Emily, who I recommend!! She is always willing to try the different designs I come to her with but also is super creative and has fun ideas. I haven't tried any of their other services but I am hoping to give them a try soon. read more

This is my nail salon. I've been going to the salon for many years and I can't say enough good things about it. It's charming and the technicians are all good. Lots of products to choose from and I've never had any problems as they are very diligent with their hygiene practices. The team there is buried in years of experience, and most of been there for their career. Has the atmosphere of spilling the tea with friends. English is the only language spoken so clients feel included in all conversations. read more

I had stopped getting pedicures because one of those other places had passed along someone's nail fungus and after the year plus long treatment to get rid of that, I swore off pedicures! Flash forward twenty years later and my feets are in need of some love and I'm in need of some pampering. Neither are well achieved when doing your own pedicures. Enter Sidney and Girlfriends, specifically the esthetician that I have come to know and love - Sabrenda. Firstly, this place is the holy Mecca of cleanliness. Let's just get that out of the way. There is continual cleaning and sanitation occurring and, if I had to guess, I would say that this was their standard even prior to COVID (when the rest of the world ramped up their cleaning). Secondly, the atmosphere is so comfortable. It is not stuffy or snooty - as so many of these places can be. Without being too casual, Sidney and Co. manages to find the perfect balance between warm and welcoming while maintaining a spa like atmosphere. Sabrenda, my esthetician is the best, but everyone working there is so kind, funny, and engaging. They also do expert work! You could book a mani/pedi with anyone here and be satisfied. I am so impressed with this place! My mom has been going here for years and bought me a gift certificate for a facial. The decor is adorable and relaxing, it's easy to find, and there is plenty of free street parking. Amy did my facial and wow is she a pro! It takes and hour and you are pampered every second. She did the standard - look at your skin with the ridiculously bright light. She saw a whitehead and asked if I wanted her to extract it or I just wanted to relax. I appreciated that she asked. Of course, I wanted that thing out of there! Sorry for the TMI, but this thing has been under my skin for MONTHS and no amount of picking, prodding, or squeezing has got it off my face. Three or four little pushes with her magical instrument and it's gone! Good riddance, my friend. It was nearly pain free and there was only a tiny dot if blood where it came out. By the next day, it was if it was never there. The facial was so relaxing. She started by giving me a wrap and telling me to undress to my comfort level. You lay on a heated massage table. She covered my face in about ten layers of stuff, gently massaging and wiping off with a warm damp towel after every one. While an exfoliate sat on my skin, she even massaged my neck, shoulders, and arms. Heaven! She made sure to ask at the beginning if I was asthmatic. I am, so she gave me the option of hot towels instead of a steam treatment. I opted for steam and Amy was great about checking often to make sure I was ok. I need to schedule again! I chose Sidney & Girlfriends based on Yelp reviews, as this platform is how I find a lot of places I try, especially being new here. I wanted to echo the other 5 star reviews.  I also wanted to make this nail salon the place I would visit every two weeks.  Sadly, both of those are not happening.   Having had the same nail tech for 15 years back home, I immediately started looking for someone/someplace I could cultivate the same relationship with when I moved to the area from out of state. I had booked my appointment about two weeks prior.  I was able to get in in the early evening of a weekday, which I had hoped would be my regular time. I arrived about 5 minutes early and waited an additional 20.  Being familiar with salon environments and knowing that it can't always be predicted what the client before me might want, I didn't have any problem with the wait. The waiting area was comfortable and the salon is very clean and decorated in a way that is interesting, if not slightly cluttered.  The clutter didn't end there.  They have the nail techs packed in there in almost a maze configuration that looks very clear that they take on more clientele than the space was designed for.   The tech I was scheduled with, JoAnn, was nice enough.  She was easy to talk to and kept the conversation going as well as anyone can when they sit across from a complete stranger for more than an hour. She was personable and polite, and seemed to like that she was there.  I got the impression that she was new, however.  Definitely to the salon, maybe to the industry.  Her work looked novice at best.   I got a new full set of acrylic nails, fairly short and almond shaped with gel polish.  The color that I wanted, which I picked from a swatch, proved to be difficult to find.  Not at all her fault, and she tried really hard to find it.  She did her best to find a color that was very similar and I appreciated the effort. At first glance, still sitting at her station, I thought my nails looked fine.  Not great, but if she was new, maybe she just needed some practice.  I made my next appointment for two weeks later.  I inspected harder when I got home and found that my nails were very lumpy and my almond shape was leaned left on every single one of my nails.   My overall experience wasn't bad. In fact, everyone I interacted with that evening was very nice. However, I paid the same price as I would have if I had been placed with a more experienced person that would have presumably produced a neater product.   Bottom Line:  If I went there for people to be friendly and the atmosphere to be mostly inviting, this review would be 5 stars.  But, I went to get nail enhancements that looked and felt good. For that, unfortunately, they missed the mark. read more

I've been serviced by Joanna both times I've went, but all the staff seems very educated and polite. I do the dip, and it's $5 cheaper than the salons I've been to before and it's much higher quality. They even have color changing dips which I did not know was even a thing! They have a complimentary cookie and coffee bar, and an adorable waiting room. They have thousands of colors, can create amazing designs, and even have these fancy arm warmer heating pads to take nails off quicker that is super soothing! read more

Not happy with my nails, very thick and unnatural looking, I told the tech to try and make them look more natural but that wasn't accompanied. Will have to go somewhere else and start over, wasted my money. I feel that I can't even complain to the spa because they will probably just have the same tech try to fix them, not having that. At first this placed seemed very nice. Friendly staff cute location. I had my nails done on the 15, fill in acrylic with gel polish. The next day I was peeling a seal off of a new spice container and my polish chipped off my thumb. No big deal maybe I had bad polish. Then on the 17th, two days later, my nail tip broke while I was at work. I didn't jam it into anything or stress it in any way. Later that day my nail would snap completely off. Then it gets worse I was trying on clothes the 24th and my ring finger nail snaps off. So I go into the store the following day and ask if it can be repaired. They tell me they only have two techs in and they are both with clients but they have someone available at 2pm. I agree to come back and go about my day. I receive a call at 1:16 saying that a client is running late and I'm going to have to be moved back to 2:30. I tell them that I will just go else where for the repair. I go to Nail Guru in green wood walk in and am immediately helped, nails repaired and out the door with an excellent manicure in 30 min. My appointment was at 1 pm my nail tech greeted me at 1:15 pm and I dried my polish for 8 minutes and was calling my husband at 1:44pm. My manicure consisted of getting my nails painted. I recently moved from a larger city in Tennessee and have been looking for a GREAT nail salon that is able to do nail art, especially for Christmas! I live in Plainfield and have tried several salons but have not been perfectly happy with any of the ones I've tried. So, I checked out Yelp and Nails by Sidney & Girlfriends came up as able to do nail art. I am SOOOOO glad I tried it! I went for my first appointment on Wed., 12/5 and had the pleasure of having Jo do my nails. She was wonderful! The nail lady was very nice. However, you have to park on the street. I went for a manicure and pedicure. It was 50 bucks. They did my manicure first then toes. They dont have a dryer!!!! I couldn't believe it. I have never been to a salon with no dryer. My polish chipped in 1 day. I have never had a pedicure chip. My mother gave me a gift card. I called to Make an appointment. They text me several times about my appointment. I got there and had to wait 20 minutes. Fine I go ask. They are getting the water ready. I wanted a pedicure. So the girl never told me her name. Not personal towards me Too busy talking to colleges. Not a good job. Did not clean my cuticles or shave my feet. My nails were not straight. The whole pedicure was 20 min. No hot towel or great job. The girl acted as if it were here very first time doing one. Barley any lotion. My feet and legs are dry. I had to go home and fix my feet. Very sad experience. She offered me 20 percent off. Which I did not want to argue over so I left with wet feet. Yes I said wet toes!! They dont have a dryer. No joke. 35 degrees out in flip flops. I gave it 2 stars simply because I did not get hurt or get any diseases. Had an appointment for a manicure, my nail technician was 15 minutes late to get started, never apologized or explained. I explained I had acrylic nails for years and I was now going back to my nails. She shaped 3 nails, used a electric file on my cuticles, had me wash my hands then painted my nails. I dried my nails for 8 minutes and I was done. Very disappointed that this was a manicure. Sydney asked me to call her via Facebook, to discuss this situation. I've called twice leaving messages and spoke to Mikala to date have never heard from Sydney. read more

To whom it may concern: As loyal & frequent Friday morning customers (every other Friday for almost a year, and every other Friday for several years) at Nails by Sidney & Girlfriends, we were very surprised to receive a text picture (from an employee's personal mobile indicating that this message was sent to all clients) informing us that children were no longer allowed to come to the nail salon unless they were "up front with a supervising adult." As a result, we have rearranged schedules, paid for sitters, etc. in order to comply with this "new policy." Interestingly enough, each time we have visited since this "new policy" came out, there were multiple other children unsupervised, walking &/or running throughout the salon. Our problem is not necessarily the rule itself, as you have that right as a business owner---our problem is that it's not enforced across the board. We are paying additional money to babysitters or for family member's gas in order to follow your rule. However, others are allowed to still bring their children in to their appointments & are left unsupervised?? The hypocrisy of this made us question that initial text. We wondered, did that text go out to everyone? Or just a select few? After asking several friends who are also customers, we discovered that it did NOT go out to all customers. It did only go out to a select few. Namely, these two Friday morning regulars! We understand that some people may not want to be around kids during their spa treatments. We understand that this might be the ONLY time some people are away from their children. However, what about the single parents, or the clients that do not have a support system? Should they not be allowed to pamper themselves? What we don't understand is how you get to pick & choose which kids are allowed & which kids aren't. A policy is a policy, across the board, otherwise that's just poor practice & shady business! We can only assume that someone must have complained about something with our boys. If there was a concern or a complaint about our kids, would it not have been much easier to just pull us aside & mention it? Rather than haphazardly claim to have a policy on no unattended children? It's actually a slap in the face, to see other people's children sitting up front by themselves or walking around by themselves, knowing that we were targeted with the anti-kid policy & knowing that we're paying even more to accommodate your "policy". We have both taken this situation very personally--especially since our children are extremely well-behaved and as previously stated, we have both been loyal customers to our nail technicians! My 4-year old probably spends 95% of my time there in my lap or someone else's. Our 10-year olds spend the entire time playing on their tablets & cell phones, up front, not bothering anyone. You yourself actually GAVE OUR CHILDREN QUARTERS FOR CANDY during their last visit there & stated that you were giving them quarters because they were so well-behaved!! Anytime we came in to the nail salon, all of the ladies who work there are excited & greet the boys, engaging with them. Anytime we came in without them, they always ask where they are & why they aren't with us (prior to your "policy"). Also, because of this "policy" another former client (who followed your "policy") was unable to have her young son sit on her lap (a moment they live to share) during her last appointment before leaving for a 9-month deployment! As a result of this deliberately rude act of targeting only certain customers, not only have you lost these two Friday morning regulars who already had appointments scheduled for the next few months, you've also lost the business of the 3 additional ladies who come with us to appointments. We will be sure to post our reviews on all sites as well as this open letter to let it be known how you conduct your business & your total disregard for anyone's clients other than your own. If our kids aren't good enough for your business, then neither are we. We'll assume that with the type of business ethic you present with, you won't be making up that lost money to your nail techs! I really waivered about posting a bad review, but as time goes on, I just feel like it's the right thing to do. I went for a pedicure. It was obvious I was assigned to a new tech. She was very young, had very long hair that was constantly being touched to throw it back behind her shoulder. A pony tail would have been appreciated. I kept wondering how many other feet had been touched, then her hair and now my feet? A neighbor, who was a hospital infection control officer, confirmed how dirty a person's hair can be as well as a source of infection transmission. Then when it came time to cut my cuticles, she wasn't comfortable doing that, considering that am a type 2 diabetic. She excused herself and requested the owner, who was with a client, come cut the cuticles. The more experienced tech next to us slid her stool over and generously offered to cut them for her. The bad part about that was, she was working on a very elderly lady, and she slid her stool over and cut my cuticles without washing her hands. Then she went back to her client's feet without washing her hands. I have no idea if the elderly lady was a nursing home resident, where MRSA and many other skin infections are spread among the residents. I'm just left with a really gross, dirty feeling after my appointment. read more
