Dip Powder manicure!
Katherine M.

I was in dire need of a mani and pedi before my trip to Mexico. I made an appointment online for the spa pedicure, gel manicure and eye brow wax. When I arrived to the appointment, MiMi greeted me with a big smile and a wonderful welcome. She asked me if I had ever tried the dip powder nails, I hadn't, and she encouraged me to try it as they last longer. I agreed, and then also added a half leg wax to my long list of needs! I started at the pedicure station with May. She was very friendly! The chairs aren't massage chairs, but I actually prefer that. They were very comfortable and very very "homey". The foot bath doesn't have jets (HUGE plus, jets get very grimey). The foot bath was lined with plastic for cleanliness and there were some essential oils in the water. I was able to choose my herbal mix for the herbal scrub (I chose rosemary and eucalyptus). The pedicure was fantastic, the herbal scrub was to die for and the hot towels and hot stones were wonderful! Oh, my toes also looks great too! Then I went to the manicure station, also with May. All tools used were super clean and just opened. The dip powder was great and very simple! It looks fantastic! MiMi brought be back to the spa room for the eyebrow wax and half leg wax. She was kind, quick and professional. No complaints! She told me she has been waxing for almost 9 years and you can tell! She also looked at my nails and noticed some imperfections I NEVER would have noticed. After the wax, she kindly has May fix them for me! My experience was beyond wonderful and I am so happy to have found this new salon. The location is easy to get to and there is TONS of easy parking.

I called to make an appointment and was surprised I could get one day of. I expected a great amount of toxic nail fumes in the air upon arrival but surprisingly it was controlled and I could breathe for once . I was asked to hand sanitize before I could begin my services and check in for a regular gel manicure and pedicure. The lightbulbs and decor was very simple, clean and bright. The pedicure chairs were cute and minimal with a little pillow. Not your average massage chair but I usually do not like them on anyways because they just never really hit the right spots and they always end up making me more sore if anything. The manicure stations/booths were able to be adjusted further out or in for those with short or long arms and with a couple of more pillows for comfort. The polishing was glossy and fully coated nicely. The pressure of the massage was not too hard and I appreciate the cuticle pushing and trimming. My hands and feet felt refreshed. I was asked probably 4 times if I am satisfied with my service since I'm not much of a talker myself when I'm trying to relax before I go home to my zoo. The pricing is not too bad for the service I received. Probably average 2-3 dollar less than most salons I've been to for some of the services they offer (More or less). But hey, you do pay for what you get. The time that I came was in the late afternoon so it was pretty busy with almost every station occupied. This review is just based on my first impression. But I want to come back another time and try their other services. Pedicure: 8/10 Manicure: 9/10 Color variations: 9/10 Cleanliness: 8/10 Price: 8/10

Dip mani with extensions.

Their COVID measures are top notch--distancing, screens, Hans sanitizer, and their already great standard of cleaning. The salon is bright and welcoming with a great color selection. I love the herbal spa pedicure. I haven't gotten anything but a great dip manicure here. Everyone is so nice. Kate did my nails in this picture, and she's great!

I made an appointment here for a blow out (summer '17) while in Gloucester from out of town for a…read morewedding based on the convenient location and good Yelp reviews. The whole experience was a disaster start to finish. They didn't honor my appointment time and had me wait over 30 minutes, did a TERRIBLE job with my hair, and to top it off charged me $40 instead of the $30-35 that was listed on the website at the time. I have normal/fine shoulder-length hair, not thick or course. I've never had such a painful blow out. The stylist burned my ear with the blowdryer, and left multiple round brushes curled (tangled) in my hair (why not use rollers?) and walked away while she took the trash out and started doing the towel laundry for the salon. So bizarre and unprofessional - I've never seen anything like this at a salon. My hair looked flat and frazzled at the end, and I was stressed out because it took way longer than expected and left me with not much time to do my own makeup before the wedding I was attending. If I had had more time, I would have showered at the hotel and redone my blowout myself. Oh, and she waited until the very end of the appointment to mention they were cash only - not sure why she couldn't have mentioned that when I was forced to wait 30 min when I showed up so I could have gone to the ATM them. Maybe they treat locals better here, but if you're in town for a wedding I cannot overemphasize AVOIDING this place at all costs.

I called and left a message and she got back to me within a few hours and fit me in two days later. Rosalie listened to what I was looking for in my haircut and did a really fantastic job - I've been getting compliments ever since! I have a number of friends who go here often, and every one of them is always pleased with their haircut. I would definitely recommend Adesso, and will probably be going back soon to try out some of their other services.

Really love this salon and the stylists! Going on several recommendations, I called the Hair and…read moreColor Studio on Main St in downtown Gloucester. Making an appointment was quite easy after I'd described what I was looking for. When I arrived for my appointment, I was offered my choice of assorted coffees, teas & freshly baked goods. My jacket was hung & I was given a tour. The salon is quite lovely. Each time I've been there, the staff has always been friendly, thoughtful, patient, & helpful. They're a real team of skilled pros. After I've spoken w/Kelly or Elizabeth at length, they asked questions & made recommendations based on the shape of my head, texture of my hair, preferences, & other factors. They really took their time working w/me & /(the other clients, I noticed, many of whom I know). Then they brought me back to the soothingly dimly lit shampoo room. They played soft music & explained the products they were using before they began shampooing, thoughtfully checking my comfort level w/the water temp, etc. The bonus is that they give you a Wonderful head & neck massage while they're shampooing & conditioning! Next come the warm towels on the neck--ahhh! How luxurious! They cut & styled my hair, making light conversation w/me and the others in the salon. They gave me tips & guided me through every step of the way. I loved my hair & have gotten many compliments & inquiries. And, to boot, the prices were so reasonable. The stylist explained to me that their notes go directly into the computer, "so we can keep track of what we did step-by-step & the results. Then next time, we can either duplicate that or make adjustments." And, they all work together as a team, so if my regular stylist isn't available & I'm in a pinch, one of the others can pick up from there. They also help each other throughout the day. It's "A Paul Mitchell Focus Salon" & the owner, Catherine is also a National Educator for Paul Mitchell. All the stylists have ongoing education which translates into the latest techniques & styles! It's been quite a pleasant, satisfying experience each & every time, & they have a wide range of services that I'll be trying. I am so happy w/that I wish I'd come here sooner!! (--Would have saved me a lot of time, $$$, & aggravation). Parking is at the metered street level, so plan accordingly.

This salon is fantastic…read more I walked in there a few days before Christmas and was very happy to book an appointment with Kiley later that afternoon. I had heard a lot of wonderful things about this salon, and Kiley specifically, so I was SO happy to be able to book an appointment with her. She really listened to me when I described to her what I was looking for in a hair style and we agreed on a layered, angled bob. She did an amazing job. I LOVE it. The salon is beautiful. Kiley gave me a little tour of the place before I sat down to get my cut and I loved the design. It was very warm and comforting to be there. The staff all seem really happy to be working there and working with each other. It really instilled confidence in me as a client knowing that the stylists are happy to be working there. After Christmas I went back for color and again, Kiley did a fantastic job. I was so happy with the results. It was exactly what I wanted. I think that if you're looking for a new salon, I definitely recommend The Hair and Color Studio. They're a very busy salon, so definitely call for an appointment first. But I promise you that you'll be very happy with your hair when you leave.
