Easily the best salon in the area, my gel pedicure has lasted SO LONG and still looks good minus the growth. My tech was friendly, I was comfortable the entire time, the place is clean and well managed (we both came in as walk ins on a weekend and were seen quickly). 4 stars because my sister had to try to advocate for something she wanted, there was a slight misunderstanding, but could easily be fixed with further communications. Sadly this salon has gone downhill. Today I received the worst pedicure I have ever gotten here. The pedicure is supposed to include lower leg exfoliation followed by moisturizing. Didn't happen. Only the feet were done. Had to tell the young man three times not to grab my toe so hard because of the bunion. The resulting pedicure was uneven nail lengths and poorly applied polish. The overall energy in the salon was low with little enthusiasm being demonstrated by the personnel. Time to look for another location. read more

I've been to Nail World several times and never had a great experience. You might ask, why do you keep going back? Because every other nail salon in the Bath/Brunswick area is equally bad--as you can see from all the reviews. I don't think the salons read Yelp so this is probably falling on deaf ears. But here's how they're all consistently bad. When you call for an appointment the person is typically hurried and rude. They remove your gel with an electric file. This is extremely bad for your nails as every salong knows. You should only use a file on fake nails. I insist on soaking it off and they get irritated/angry. They have one person start, another steps in, and sometimes even a third person finishes. No explanation. They just do it without explanation, as if you're cattle. They have an earbud in and talk on the phone the whole time. Imagine any other service provider doing that! And they talk about the customers and laugh, right in front of them. I get English isn't usually their first language, but it's still incredibly rude. They're extremely aggressive about trying to upsell you to services you don't want and seem angry when they can't upsell you. I've lived all over the US and have never experienced the poor service and rudeness that seems to be a-okay here in Maine nail salons. read more

I have been going to nail world since I was a little girl but today me and my friend went in for full sets like I have many times before but this time i got somebody I never had before and I can't recall his name but he sits near the pedicure section. I asked for long nails he couldn't do that I asked for them to be thicker and said he couldn't do that or they would break... I clean for a living they will break if they are paper thin. He continued to pretty much tell me I'm wrong the whole time then cut both my thumbs while filing and acted like I was an inconvenience for saying ouch when he RE opened the cut he already made. Never again, and it's so sad because I know atleast four wonderful nail techs there. As well my friends nail tech said she couldn't do stiletto styles nails and got mad and made my friend wait for another tech....like this has to be a joke read more

I've gone to Nail World multiple times since moving to the area almost 2 years ago. They've always been hit or miss, but usually decent enough to keep me from looking for a new salon. Recently I started going in every two weeks to get fills and keep my acrylics on constantly. After my most recent experience (yesterday), I won't be back. I went in with a friend to get my usual fill and gel color change. The gel from my last appointment had peeled off both thumbs and was starting to come off one other finger, but I let it go as it looked great for about a week. My friend and I picked our colors and sat down. I'd never gotten my nails done by the guy who came over to do them. I asked him to make them a little shorter. He filed down one of them, asked if I liked it and then just left all the other ones the same length. He was rushing through doing my nails the whole time. Never clipped my cuticles, never evened out the surface after adding acrylic, and was putting the gel color on in a very sloppy way, and only letting my nails be under the light for approx. 15 seconds before making me switch hands to add a second coat. He was then rude to my friend about her color choice and basically told her it would look bad on her, all while laughing. She went to Lilly to have hers done and her experience was much better. To top it all off, within 24 hours, the top layer of gel has started peeling off four of my nails, revealing completely uncured gel underneath, which rubbed off and is now showing the acrylic. I had to "fix" these nails by sealing them with a top coat so it at least won't get worse before I find somewhere else to go. I have always had a good experience with Lilly and one of the other ladies, but unfortunately the fact that they are the only two who are pleasant, on top of this situation, leads me to finding somewhere else to go and not being able to recommend this place at all anymore. read more

I NEVER write reviews but I had to because I was really upset after my last visit. I've been here many times and it's awful. I went back today to see if it would be better. The guy was using the electric nail drill on my cuticles (on the skin) and proceeded to rub alcohol over it and it burned. Nails ended up looking awful and he had no idea what he was doing. He also rubbed an eyelash off my face and made me extremely uncomfortable. I'll never come back. read more

This place is rude and DIRTY!!!! I walked in and was asked "What you want?!" I told him what I wanted and a few minutes later he sat me at his seat. He proceed to look at his phone for a full 10 minutes as I was sitting in front of him waiting. Then he proceeded to finally work on my nails, but had to get up several times to go wait at the front. He came back and was so rough and hurt me. I told him that he was being unnecessarily rough. He got up in a few minutes later another man came and moved me to his chair. he proceeded to do my nails, but I noticed that he was not doing the correct thing that I asked for originally. So he soaked my nails in acetone and let me sit in there for 15 minutes at this time, I had a chance to really look around. This place is absolutely Disgusting. There is cobwebs all over the floor with nails and dust covering EVERYTHING that has not been cleaned up, and I don't know how long because the webs have grown over them the whole floor was absolutely disgusting with nails and nail dust, and as I got looking even more around all of their nail polishes were gunked up. There was no nail supplies soaking in any kind of cleaner. He pulled out his drawer, and that was just disgustingly filled with clipped nails, and even more nail dust.. if you want infection, this is the place to go read more

Wow I love this salon wish I found it sooner as I go to multiple places to get nails done. I like the way it's set up and how my feet were pampered. Also germ free foot bath very important. The actual nail service was very good. I like the way my pedicure looks and the technician was very nice. However, all of the COVID-19 signage states that they are offering gel only (NO REGULAR POLISH) and a surcharge of $5 more per service. With the gel and $5 COVID up-charge this automatically makes the service $25 more than the base option. My issue really comes when I asked specifically before the service if I HAD to get gel the answer was "Yes". After the service when I was confused about the charges they THEN informed me that I had chosen to get the gel polish and that regular polish is still offered. If my original question was answered truthfully or if the signage was more clear I would not have gotten the gel pedicure. The front staff gave me some attitude about the whole situation which was also disappointing. I hate that I received a good service from the technician but was left feeling like I had been ripped off. read more

It's a hit or miss experience. I could make an appointment 2 weeks ahead of time and still have to wait like I was a walk-in. Also, when I make an appointment I always end up getting the people that tend to do that "miss" job. The acrylics hardly last 2 weeks if that and it's dirty as all get out. DO NOT GO HERE!! If I could give zero stars, I would. I was in town for a few days and wanted to get a manicure before leaving. Thought I would give this place a try despite seeing the bad reviews. I got a full set. The guy didn't even ask if I wanted square or round tips--just did his own thing. The next day the nails were already lifting and the tips had turned a nasty brown-orange color. Went to the salon to ask if I could get a partial refund because I had a plane to catch and the people said that they could fix it. I tried explaining to them that I didn't have time because I had to catch a flight. They just kept repeating that it would be a fast easy fix and that it wouldn't turn brown again. Said that some products like hairspray can react with the polish and change the color. Uhh yeah because I was soaking my nails in hairspray overnight... I hadn't even used lotion on my hands! I ended up just walking out because they weren't listening to me and I didn't have time to argue. Very disappointed with the product quality and the horrible customer service. read more

This was my 2nd time, and to be honest I couldn't remember why I didn't want to go back- though did think the polish was thick and a bit wonky, but chalked it up to the male technician rather than the shop, also I'm not comfortable with having a gentleman give me a pedicure, can;t explain my sexism in this realm but it just is. Anyway on a friend's recommendation I gave it another shot. I checked in and I asked to have a female technician, explaining to the receptionist how I felt, went to my assigned chair and not 3 minutes later and a gentleman sat down to to my nails. I'll put it out there that I was really looking forward to an easy day, it had been a while since I 'd had a pedicure and just wanted to relax. So having to have an awkward conversation probably put me more on edge than normal. So he looked pissed off but brought over a woman to do my pedi. First thing that freaked me out (and made me remember why I never went back) was that they used a CHEESE GRATER on my callouses-- and look I spend ALOT of time on my feet, it had been awhile they were kind a wreck but a Cheese Grater??? Just gross. I'm not sure if it was because I asked to switch or not-- but this woman just did a horrible job- she didn't use a top coat, she didn't give me the little toes dividers all my toenails and she put my flip flops on after I had polish- it looks like I did my won nails. For my mani-- i don't get polish because I cook professionally, but that doesn't mean I want all my nails different shapes and lengths-- that's just ridiculous. It cost me $39 + tip and I was just pissed, I said something to the receptionist who looked at me like I was from Mars when I mentioned to her that I had asked for a female technician and she did not comply--she was baffled - she said "You asked me????-Who else would I have asked? They sat me in a chair to soak my nails and after some time, and many questions from me, I realize they overbooked their appointments and they expected me (and many other people) to simply wait. It's not the worst but not the best. There was some language barrier that I personally struggled with but the staff was nice. I barely waited 3 minutes. I got a mani-pedi. The polish was good, but the massage was a little rough during both. And the lady who did my manicure I think might have pushed my cuticles back too far. It's been hours and they're still red and hurt. There should be one specific person working desk because this poor girl trying to do someone's acrylics was dealing with this one annoying customer who was looking for a specific nail tech, but he was unavailable. So the customer just stood there dumbfounded, forcing the BUSY nail tech to get up - leave a customer, and deal with this lady's issue TWICE! THIS CUSTOMER CAME BACK! A person at the desk would have been helpful to deal with this particularly irritating customer and would have led to a more peaceful time for the customer getting her nails done currently at the time. First of all, pedis are ridiculously overpriced here in Maine. I am from California and they are cheaper ans better quality. On to this place, definitely over priced for the quality received. The guy who did my feet was very impersonable, almost rude. When he was done painting my toenails, he pretty much rushed me out of my seat and told me to go sit and wait. There was no nail dryer and after a few minutes I left. A little while later I brushed something against my toenails and they were still wet, so I ruined my freshly painted nails. I also had to ask him to clip the corners of my big nails and he seemed irritated and hastily did it in which he went a little far and actually hurt me. Whether I get regular mani/pedis or go for gel, I know my hands and feet will feel and look great after my session. For more than 10 years I had been a regular at the in-town nail salon that always seems to win "best of the Midcoast." And they used to be. This place is absolutely awful. I went in with a very basic nail design (matte red with gold accent nail) and they came out atrocious. I very politely returned and asked them to simply remove the gel so I could fix them myself but they insisted on redoing them for me. They had me go to the same person who originally did them so horribly and he was clearly irritated that I had returned. He was extremely rough with my hands and ended up gouging my hand pretty severely and leaving quite the cut on my finger. We didn't have to wait at all, everything was ready for us as we had made an appointment ahead of time. Everything was great except when the pedicurist was trimming my cuticles on my toes he went up to the sides and was pulling at the skin there and that was very painful. He was also trying to round the toenail on my big toe and was digging underneath the nail which hurt. They look great though and they gave me a great foot massage. I also got a gel manicure and that was pretty good except for when he started filing and on my pinky he went to hard and it starting bleeding.
